Opinions on big mouth? I find the show to have charm, but tries too hard to be funny

Opinions on big mouth? I find the show to have charm, but tries too hard to be funny.

It's a comedy. How does it try too hard.

Anyway I liked it. Good thing season 2 is already announced as going to happen.

I enjoyed it overall, but it was very hit or miss. Almost nothing with Jay or the gym teacher was funny, but the Hormone Monster was pure fucking gold.

I want Hormone Monstress to peg me while I squeal.

Gym teacher was far too forced and lolsorandumb.

Also I hope each season jumps ahead a year

Art style is poo poo pee pee though.

How did this get a second season

people watched it.

It's fucking ugly and not in the 90's or adult swim ugly way it's that lazy fox animated sitcom ugly

To be fair if the art style was more pleasant looking the crude body stuff wouldn't have had the same impact, plus people would only sexualize the younger characters

Wasted intros on mediocre shows general?

Wait, are the kids actually shown naked? Like, genitals and everything?

i watched it on netflix,
it was fucking terrible

Also to be fair they could've picked a more interesting style. They could've still gone with an ugly style that wasn't so fucking bland

>It's a comedy. How does it try too hard.

a comedy can try too hard user

Style was intentionally picked for maximum unattractiveness because they don't want an audience with a "thing" for the characters

Yes. At least two dicks and one vag, excluding the shit shown when they look at porn or delve into the 'Pornscape'

They didn't want the west to get assblasted about 2D.

I was surprised by the music. The queen pastiche was pretty good.

Awful beyond any chance for redemption. It's just so goddamned ugly.

Both the monsters were the stars of the series.

Got great reviews.
People actually watched it.

Tripe

A comedy trying too hard??? LOL that's what I said to your mom last night!!!!
That's how. It wants to make you laugh so bad it's almost desperate and cliche with its joke setups and punchlines. It's like adult shows where they think lots of cursing = funny.

I may have to investigate, even if they do have ugly faces.

Something about watching Black nerd girl squee into her curtains reawakened a childhood sense of empathy I haven't felt in years

It keeps popping up in my Netflix recommended section
They couldn't have chosen a worse thumbnail, turned me off it completely

>but tries too hard to be funny.
This

puberty is already awkward & comedic & they are pushing too hard.

It feels like the first series made by the generation of kids who grew up watching Family Guy thinking it was genius.

She was actually pretty cute. Ended up being my favorite character on the show.

Unfortunately animation is a visual medium, and just because it chose to look like garbage doesn't mean it's free from the criticism that it looks like garbage. They could have designed the characters in all kinds of different ways that would still look crude or simple without turning away the viewer over how bad it looks.

For example, would varying the line widths instantly make people want to fuck the characters?

Show was great.
Could have done without the gym teacher, he felt forced.

It was alright enough, makes me wonder why western animation outside of european animation seems to have the sheer goal of being ugly as sin. Do they not teach anything but how to draw ugly ass styles in schools or something?

I thought when he was happy to just be the teachers friend was perfect. I’ve met so many special guys like that who are genuinely happy to just be friends and make new ones.

I thought the hormone monsters were imaginary. That scene where Maurice hands over the porno then the kid acts like he swiped it made it look like a Calvin and Hobbes deal. But the last episode suggests they really are living in a wacky world of pornscapes, etc.

It's easier to fall back on "it's just simple looking" or "we made it ugly on purpose as commentary/for the lulz."

Appealing design also means more people than the absolute dregs of this board and places like it might find some of the characters sexy, and that goes against our puritanical beliefs. This is particularly a problem for adult comedy, which gets away with dirty situations and characters who are said to be sexy (but look just as ugly as everyone else in the show) because it looks so unappealing. Old conservatives are against sexiness in cartoons, and neo-libs are against ideas of sexiness that don't include landwhales, people with horrible skin conditions, and women who shave anywhere.

Well, they fucked up, cuz everybody wants to fuck the hormone monstress. Bitch is hawt.

The way she says "bubble bath" makes my dick diamonds.

Better a monstress than the children

The show still managed to have some high-tier MILFs. Shannon Glaser and Diane Birch could definitely use some art.

I'm pretty sure they are real - the gay mentions seeing him too and taking the gay test. Also, the ghosts.

The Hormone Monster and Monstress are probably the best designs in the show. I think it's that sort of "AAAHH!!! Real Monsters" effect in that because they're meant to look inhuman they actually complement the ugly artstyle.

So has people finally stop saying how this show is pedophilia?

It does a good job repelling the paedos, though.
There is NO Big Mouth thread on /trash/

Dont tell me you wouldn't hire DJPendejo for your bat mitzvah

Source?
Is good but not so good

It's better than Bordertown, but not anywhere near as good as F is for Family, so what I'm trying to say is: it's a polished piece of shit.

Netflix needs to step its shit up with animation.

Hormone Monstress is hot/cute and you can empathize and identify with it from your childhood. It's okay.

Degenerate and dehumanizing.

I personally loved it, but I can see why it gets on people's nerves. The character design is pretty awful, for instance.

Glad TheFuckingDevil did a pic of her.

I liked the character designs enough. For me though I liked it because a lot of it resonated. In particular, the episode where the guy gets dumped and escapes into increasingly weird porn. Only difference is I didn't escape...

I felt Castlevania was a step in the right direction, in that it wasn't an animated sitcom.

Only thing I didn't like about it was the whole thing with the dude and his pillow.

It's Family Guy as made by a different studio

>tries too hard to be funny.
God isn't real

Yea it was annoying how the Gym Teacher was in every episode no matter what. All the other side characters came and went but that guy was always around

Jew pedophilia propaganda, fuck off you disgusting shill

You would think by now people would have worked out that's to deflect accusations of pedophilia.

People watched neo yokio but it got mixed reviews. Any hance of a second season for that?
