As someone old enough to catch pretty much every cultural reference in this, it's passable but like most Chaykin pieces it's pretty clearly not going anywhere as a story.
He's entertaining but a consistently weak storyteller who's relied too long on GET IT! GET IT? DID YOU GET IT! in his work and sadly the all new, all edgy HB line is guaranteed not to challenge him here. I don't HATE this series but he's burying a story under a mountain of historical trivia as if he heard about Snagglepuss and said "WELL I *LIVED* THAT TIME, I'LL SHOW THAT KID"
It hurts to say it but he really did peak with American Flagg!, and long before the series ended.
Oh and in case I seem like a sour little shit, the art is excellent. What else has Rey done?

Shades of Bojack, but I liked it.
It's typical Chaykin, lots of anachronistic pop culture, history, & a plot hook thats lifted from the Sunshine Boys but it's comfy.
I'm curious though if 'celis' have a longer lifespan than humans?
