Any guesses?

All I've heard is that it doesn't have a child protagonist and it's more of an adult film.

I'm already fapping to the potential amazing motion capture.

I heard they were going to do a traditionally 2d animated film is this going to be that one?

Its bankrupt yet?

That doesn’t sound real to me
They have always specialise in stop motion and I don’t see any reason they would change that now

We're all gonna go see it anyway. It doesn't matter what they release.

WE GO THAT NIKE MONEY SON

Travis Knight has expressed being interested in the idea but they’d have to hire a ton of new animators, it’s more wishful thinking at this point. “Maybe down the road” kind of thing

I'm hyped, but I've seen next to nothing on what it's going to be.

Recent article. The info is still a deliberate secret, but they finish filming by March (seems like it might be delayed from the May slot, but it’s definitely coming next year)
Maybe a Halloween announcement? Would be cool

So the hints we have are:
>there are no child characters
he mighta been exaggerating and just meant no child main characters, but that's what we got to go on
>it is "unlike anything the studio has done before"
I dunno about you guys, but I think he was more talking about story or genre with this and not the technical aspect, so I would guess it's not 2D or something, but again, we don't know for sure what was meant by this exactly. There's a lot of room for interpretation.

So keeping these two criteria in mind, lets throw out some ideas that they probably aren't going to do but would be interesting. I'll start with a crazy one:
>it's a biographical documentary told with stopmotion about Travis Knight's brother and his untimely death, with a lot of abstract dreamlike sequences to express the feelings of various loved ones

>adult film
How would Laika make a stop-motion sex scene?

Anybody want to copypaste it or provide a link that doesn't require signing up for the wallstreet journal?

Didn't Amamolisa or something already do one?

daddy nike finally stopped the money so it's just an animator just slamming one of the dolls into the other

I wish my dad was Bill Gates or Jeff Bezos so I could make all the freaking animated movies I wanted without having to bow down to executives ;_;

Coraline>Kubo>Norman>BoxTrolls

It's about a kid who doesn't have many friends and something extraordinary happens Wich connects them to another world

Coraline > everything else plales in comparison

They actually pretty much said it will not be that.

I'm not sure where I'd rank Kubo. The visuals and choreography were amazing, and I really loved the first stretch of the film, but I thought the pacing moved a little too fast when they actually started their journey. Paranorman's the opposite, where I think it starts slow but has a really strong pay-off.

Coraline's probably my undisputed favorite though. Good story, creative visuals, and strong atmosphere.

And I think Box Troll's main duo is underrated. I could take or leave the trolls themselves, but Egg and Winnie were charming.

I didn’t need to login to see it. No real new info other than the “finishes March 2018” though

Huh. I dunno why, but it won't let me read more than half the first paragraph.

>Any guesses?
something that will underperform at the box office

Laika's CEO says they definitely want to, but it's not something planned anytime soon.

They also said they'd never do an R-rated film and they want to keep making films suitable for the whole family to watch.
