>Metal, King's Batman, and his mediocre Mister Miracle
Loving every laugh

If anything like Metal was happening in the Marvel universe, this board would be shitting all over it 24/7.

nope

Marvel isn't publishing anything better than these three books.

You forgot one, OP.

lol reddit

They're killing it along with Marvel.

not enough sales. think of a world with no intel and AMD they push each other, you DONT want a monopoly. the more sales as a whole means healthy community. man survives because the competition is absolutely FIERCE but that pushes out more content.

No. If a giant chunk of an industry goes under, buyers just disappear.

Pro wrestling's a good example of this. When WCW died, everybody who watched WCW didn't start watching WWF. A giant chunk of them just fucked off, never to watch wrestling again.

You'd get the same thing with comics. There'd be a decent chunk of Marvel fans that wouldn't jump to DC or Image or IDW or anywhere and would just find something else to do, no longer spending their money on comics.

Punisher the Platoon is infinitely better than Metal.

I can't really argue against Mister Miracle, and aside from the trashcan fire that is the War of Jokes and Riddles, I've been liking King's run.

But Metal is shit.

>DC Comics save the industry
>Following Marvel's example
Pick one

>Punisher the Platoon is infinitely better than Metal
Duh. But book for book, DC is destroying Marvel right now. Metal is an event that requires a lot of exposition and it's a million times better than Secret Butthurt, Generations and Legacy.

Anyway, I'm enjoying Metal. At least it's fun instead of Marvel's pedantic moralizing YA garbage.

why does manga remain healthy?

If by saving the industry means Metal, Tom King's Batman, more Batman, and dozens of average books then I'd rather see it crash.

Because Manga as a whole is far more accessible than most comics, the manga industry is much more diverse in content, And we have more people now that grew up as manga/anime fans through the 2000s than comic fans.

>Metal is an event that requires a lot of exposition and it's a million times better than Secret Butthurt, Generations and Legacy.

user, let's be honest, they are all shit.

>Because Manga is fresh and interesting

shonen jump tends to be repetitive so thats debatable
this seems like a better answer, its a web of different content under one name.
shit, so normies watching one piece are saving the industry? no wonder shonen is starting project to get new talent.

what stops DC and mahvel from doing more broad content? low sales and adoption? the problem might go beyond "its a bad book" maybe the average Western reader does not care much for the comics and more for the motion comics and movies.

This.

I think what DC could be is a refuge for a few years, until some mouse Suit above comes down to the Marvel editorial offices and slaps them around the back of the head and reminds them that they are there to sell comics, not soapbox. I doubt Marvel will ever go into the red, but if the suits think that they need to curb some of the personalities and refocus them, then they will.

OTOH, I think have a point: plenty of people might turn to manga instead. Given that a lot of LCS also stock major manga titles, a lot of the crowd retention might be the manga crowd. I genuinely think that all the nip porn, with the manga right-to-left format and style, introduces a lot of people to the area, and they go pick up stuff via the net, then get drawn it. Hell, anime girl have become a fairly normie meme.

>no wonder shonen is starting project to get new talent.

Well that and they no longer have The Big 3. Naturto is over, Bleach got cancelled, and One Piece volume sales are down, but it's still the most popular Jump comic. They really want new titles like My Hero Academia to pop up and rise to fill the holes.

And? Why would I care?

who makes OPM?

Because making comics is far more expensive and risky than doing a manga, especially when there is no guarantee that it'll sell.

there is a comic publisher that sells comics for like a dollar on cheap news print. i kinda doubt it.

costs and risk. Lot of Manga starts out practically as the writer/artist duo doing a passion project, or adapting a LN, basically webcomics, and get packaged into anthology releases or are cheap enough that a publisher can take a gamble.

Meanwhile if you want to turn a profit on a western comic the style and costs are straight up higher unless you do it digitally, in which case its not "serious" and stays a web comic.
I've been saying for a while, the next big thing for comics will be some computer tech than makes doing art easy, cheap and fast. Some sort of CGI assisted program that basically does pic related. I just pulled this from google and yes, its shit, but its a sign of things to come. Its going to suck for artists, but soon computers will be able to do various different styles, then all you need is a writer and a "artist" who just runs it through a program, sets up the models, and boom. Cheap comics.

it's all they've ever known how to do.

Oh yes, DC is so much better in comparison.

Plus you have to realize that manga and comic artists have a fundamentally different worth ethos, each tied to their culture. Mangakas routinely work ridiculously long hours in order to complete each chapter. I think the Detective Conan creator works 20 hours a day, five days a week, to the point where he's almost dying of exhaustion at the end of every month. Comic artists are comparatively lax, generally only working roughly 8-10 hours a week, and delays are not uncommon.

I'm not saying that comic artist are lazy, but we're comparing them with people who work in a culture where working yourself to death is not only common, it's basically expected of you.

like, how do these idiots get jobs?

fair enough but DC and mahvel could start a slice of life or talent search competition and publish it on cheap news print. the ones that succeed can be pushed to being fully supported. alternative comics is doing it so why cant the big guys?

youtube.com/watch?v=fdnJDA8o4YA&t=822s

so basically DC/Marvel end up dissapearing over time, or they adapt and make comics way cheaper, with cheaper processes. I wouldnt be surprised if during the next decade the inkers job ends up dissapearing, with the artist drawing and a computer program shading and doing the rest.

ONE

yeah DC NEVER does that

no i mean the publisher. in other words who are the biggest manga publishers, it cant just be jump?

No. We need two major companies to keep stires afloat.

Sure, but Marvel doesn't have to be one of them.

What other company do you suggest then? The others aren't any better.

Well too bad, Image is the next biggest at 10% on a good month

user, you are saying that you like vomit when any rational person believes both vomit and diarrhea are bad?

That particular issue of Batman, along with King's Mister Miracle, is very good.
Agreed with all of this.

Jump isn't a publisher. It's a magazine, Shueisha is the publisher.

There's so much ignorance in here it hurts. Just lurk Sup Forums a bit. Manga is much much more shonen shit guys.

>Just lurk Sup Forums a bit.
What a terrible idea. Just tell him to get cancer and die next time.

DC and Valiant are the new king and queen of the comics industry.

>Valiant
Christ user. Have some self respect.

What's wrong with Valiant? I bet you're a filthy Marvel reader.

She hasn't written anything for DC though, she probably bombed out of the program specifically because of shit like the former post

T. Youtuber

If the best you can do is one off lines in single panels compared to marvel's multiple books filled to the brim with that shit, you probably should just take your shit and shove it back to where it belongs.

>I bet you're a filthy Marvel reader.
Just a reader with decent tasts. Good on you for jumping to conclusions though and for trying to incite more companywars bullshit; you fit in amazingly well.

Not him but believing it will pick up market share as Marvel slips is laughable

DC will not "save" the industry; they're just going to keep publishing the same stories with the same characters forever. Sure, sometime the Joker will be violent and edgy, while other times he'll be more fun, but in the end it's the same vapid trash for pathetic nerds.
Comics in the west are a failed medium, both commercially and artistically.

The only hope we have is that the Diamond Distributors monopoly is broken up and the Comics Code Authority is retroactively wiped from history.

One, DC is doing worse than Marvel in sales across the board except for literally just Batman (which is why the recent event is Batman: the Event)

Two, mods really need to fucking ban this channel from being posted here

>DC is doing worse than Marvel in sales across the board except for literally just Batman

Isnt that the sole purpose of Young Animal?

>Muh sales
Keep pushing that bullshit, shill

Problem

with

sales

Marvel?

The market doesn't need two megaliths to have competition and balance. The smaller publishers together can balance out DC.

I don't believe this myth about Marvel being the health of the industry or the industry requiring Marvel to survive. The industry will adapt to changing circumstances.

You also can't predict new companies that will attempt to fill in the gap left by Marvel. Demand would still be there, so supply will be there too.

The main issue with Marvel is the staff. They're lazy bastard that needs to get fired. The company needs new blood and they know it but won't do a damn thing because they're Jews so they trick the costumes by offering changes in the form of events/new status quo.

nah. they have brought young blood and the only thing they do is write about their political agenda. what marvel needs is a strong editorial that is unwilling to bend its ass over to the writers and artists.

shit sucked

>I'm illiterate

Sad.

WHAT EVEN IS THE POINT OF MENTIONING HIM! WTF!
