Who's in the mood for a Norman thread? Its festive considering he dresses like monster, and throws pumpkin bombs. Is he truly the best Spider-Foe?

She thinks so, at least.

He's really Spidey's top foe.

Even when Ock tried to claim that mantle, Norman shut him down and retroactively gave his waifu AIDS. You can't compete with him.

Since im not a big fan of spiderman except for rami, I only know him from the movies and some episodes of the cartoon i saw years ago. What makes him so hated by spiderman considering hes mostly chill concerning his villains

...

Lets see
>Killed one of his early love interests, Gwen Stacy
>A sadistic madman with billions of dollars who takes joy in the suffering of others
>Will use his own son as a pawn
>Gave a dwarf aids
>Loves human experimentation
>Walks around naked when brainstorming new ways to fuck with people
Norman truly is a beautifully sick bastard. Every day is Halloween for him, and loves his tricks

>Norman = 6
>Virgil = 6
>Osborn = 6
>666
Holy shit!

Goddamn

Ain't nobody like Stormin' Norman.

>Gave a dwarf aids
W-what?

Is Norman's costume impossible to adapt to live action?

>Is he truly the best Spider-Foe?
See these posts in a different thread

The classic style with the pirate boots and loincloth would look pretty silly, but modern incarnations wouldn't have much issue. The real difficulty is the mask and the messenger bag.

Two tone that bitch. Green and purple would have been fine.

Or alternatively it was just a military suit no mask, and he put a Halloween (goblin) costume over it.

Green Goblin shouldn't be a mask or a suit, it should be good makeup effects.

No, they had a pretty faithful one lined up for Raimi's film but the guy refused to wear it, said it looked dumb

...

...

But Norman's was originally a mask. Of course I could see Osborn standing in front of a mirror for a good hour putting on his face, like a ritual. I can kind of appreciate what Raimi was going for, but the execution wasn't great. The mutation thing in ASM2 was a decent idea, but again, not a great delivery (probably should have gone a bit further with the face). The problem is finding that right fit between Halloween costume and practical/high tech

I'm not saying it shouldn't be a mask in the canon of the movie, but it should be handled through good makeup effects, because just using a halloween mask or making it look like a mask doesn't come out as well.

as another user pointed out it should be a hightech suit with a fucking dime store halloween costume put over it because Norman thinks it's hilarious

>You know, Peter, I'm somewhat of a National Socialist myself
Jesus, Raimi, was that really necessary?

Obligatory

Another issue is colors. Its hard to make purple look good. But perhaps the best way to do it, is just revel in the absurdity of it all. Osborn does this for just shits in giggles, so why not have a scene in a movie where he just takes his flight suit, paints it purple/green, tweaks an overpriced decorative wall mask and done.
>"I'm flying through New York on an untested military glider, tossing live grenades I painted orange into a subway, and I just pissed on a cop car, I NEVER FELT SO ALIVE!"

It did look pretty dumb. It was bulbous, rounded out the features, and the ears looked really bad.

Did he actually give her AIDS?

>But perhaps the best way to do it, is just revel in the absurdity of it all.
Not a bad mantra for adapting comic books in general.

...

Who's voice do you hear when you read Norman's dialogue?

youtube.com/watch?v=0avVLnSGFZU

I hear The Monarch

Alan Rachins.

yeah, he's spidey's arch

...

A little interesting fact: Stephen King went to Marvel and asked for permission the use the Green Goblin's likeness for the Happy Toyz truck in the film Maximum Overdrive.

The voice from the 90's cartoon

Neat

Dafoe

Another interesting fact is that I think some company scooped it out from the scrapyard and restored it. I think it still tours cons or something.

He'll kill you with sparkles

I always found it odd how the green goblin was the face of the truck for no apparent reason.
Anyways, that was a fun film.

This.

Anyone have the source for this?

I think it was Dark Avengers, during Dark Reign when Osborn was director of HAMMER. I could be wrong, maybe its Thunderbolts.

I think Dafoes potrayal was aposulty perfect except for the costume,

its a very corparate green goblin

it would have been better if there was a mix of high technology and homade features in the design, mayby he could make a cape or put purple or black rags over the costume. he could have spray painted pumpkin faces on those orange bombs.

I also wish they went all out with the halloween theme, during the first encouter spiderman could say, why are you dressed like that
'everybody loves halloween, trick or treat, (throws bomb)

Either that or he retconned AIDS into generic death virus #45930.

Warren Ellis Thunderbolts rum.

Because that Power Ranger suit was the epitome of class.
