Who are the John Romero and John Carmack of animation?

Hannah Barbera

Ellaborate

John K. is Romero.

Considered some of the greats, produced some quality content, but kinds shit in hindsight?

Ouch.

The stuff Romero and Carmak madr is still considered to be very good. DOOM (1993) is great from the techniques used to make the art from the level design and weapon design (asthetics and game play).

Hanabarbera wad cheep even for its time. Kinda different.

Uhh, well, they're genius-level computer programmers who kind of accidentally became game designers. Genuinely believed in and understood e-sports 20 years before anyone else. Started 1 game from a dnd campaign.

2 games. quake was orginally going to be an RPG based on one of the characters from their DnD campaigns

Romero actually finishes his work though.

>daikatana
>finished

As it turned out, he DID make everyone his bitch.

Just not in the way he expected.

Savino and Gennedy

A duo with an ideas man and a technical wizard?
Thats what comes to my mind when l think of these 2. I dont know any animation duo that would be like that. Maybe Hannah Barbera, if one of them was more ideas based and the other technical? IDK.

Not animation, but it's pretty interesting how perfectly Rob Liefeld and Jim Lee with Image fit the Carmack/Romero dynamic.

>mfw masters of doom is a free pdf if you Google search it

Really fun book, very inspiring too. Had a lot of real feels.

Romero wasn't just an ideas man- he was the one who made most of the tools they actually developed their games with, i.e. tile and map editors- just he's completely overshadowed by Carmack (as is everyone else).

Is that the one where Carmack kills the cat?

This
>Started career in 80s for other production
>Later decided to do his own thing
>Prospered in the 90s thanks to this
>Thanks to falling, had to separate
>Does thing independent again
>Hyped beyond belief
>Comes out
>Huge Disappointment
>Will never amount to anything ever again, yet has a cult following of edgy 90sfags
Adult Party cartoon is John K.'s Daikatana

Yup. She's going down! Down to Chinatown!

>kinda shit in hindsight?
Doom and Doom 2 are better than 95% of anything that came after them.

>Kinda shit in hindsight
Commander Keen, Wolfenstein 3D, Doom 1 and 2, and quake are still pretty damn good even today dumbass

Who is the Tommy Wiseau of animation?
