I like looking up Disney songs in the language where they're set; this is one of my favorites:

Though the Japanese version of A Friend Like Me is impressive for how well he keeps up with Robin:
I'll make a man out of you is good in any language, or at least all the versions I've heard have been good.
Frozen in French was pretty parfait, famille.
The 50's original French dub of Cinderella.
As for the 90's French dub... it's a disaster.
I can understand Disney FR for trying to record another dub for surround/stereo purposes etc, but trying to modernize the vocals for modern/present times was a big mistake

I actually really like the guy they got to sing 'Shiny' for the Polish dub of Moana
www.youtube.com/watch?v=XbawzvtK81s
So often with these dubs you can tell the person doing the dubbing/singing is totally phoning it in, but every now and then you find one you can tell is really getting into it and giving it a solid effort.
I don't know what happened with Disney French dubbing.
Up until recently, they were fucking God-tier. i'd be hard pressed to tell you which version is the best between the French and the original version for most Disney of the renaissance era.
Here See a Jack Skellington song in French:

And then it's like they become utter incompetant. Even the 90's and 00's cartoons (including Phineas and Ferb) were great. And then gravity Fall become unbearablt to watch in french.
japanese version of 'on my way' sounds like a folk song

Friendly reminder that Walt Disney's favourite voice for Snow White was the one used in the Swedish 1938 dub.

not bad
>trying to modernize the vocals for modern/present times was a big mistake
I bought a few years ago the blu edition of Snow White and noticed there a Croatian dub present. As a neighboring Serbfag, I gave it a spin out of sheer curiosity.
And I must say, I was decently impressed with their work. There was no sign of modernizing the soundtrack, vocals etc. The sound design gives you the impression that it was actually made at that time. As in making sound to be as much authentic as possible for the time period when the film was made. From the voice actors, to the point that they put some filter over the voices so that it matched with the original soundtrack of the film. In short: they fucking nailed it, in my book.

That reminds me, there was a version of "my lullaby" from lion king 2, that was extremely metal and aggressive sounding, but I can't remember which dub it was.
It was an eastern european one methinks, anyone know what I'm talking about?
Songs about the experiences of soldiers always get to me mang.

QUE VOIS!
I really like the Japanese version of Once Upon a Dream.
Speaking of Czech versions, here's Colors of the Wind:

More poetic lyrics than in the English version, too.
Generally anything sung in French just sounds better because it's a gallo-romance language.

I wish Disney would just go back to their roots.
This song plays... with dancing skeletons on the side. Priceless.

Spanish version of Hellfire. Sang by the guy who dubs Darth Vader in Spanish.
The Italian version of Hellfire

> tfw russian translation is way darker than the original
I really don't like the japanese version of hellfire.

The Japanese dubs tend to be pretty good in general.
what is it about russia that makes their contributions to art so depressing.
I swear, their poetry makes me want to open up a vein.
I raise my glass
To ravaged home,
My bitter life,
And lonely days with you.
I drink to you,
To lying lips' betrayal,
To deathly frigid eyes;
To that the world is cruel and crude,
To that we weren't saved by God.
-Anna Akhmatova
Russia has been a depressing frozen shithole most of its years. It don't take much to be a sad bastard.
