PUNISHER STORYTIME
All this year I'll be storytiming Punisher comics. Most of the focus will be on pre-Ennis era material, but there'll be 1 or 2 or so Ennis era storytimes as well. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
Earlier this week we read Punisher P.O.V., featuring the drop dead gorgeous artwork of Bernie Wrightson (which you can still read here: ), and the final fate of Lynn Michaels (which you can still read here: ).
That second storytime wrapped up the aftermath of the "Suicide Run" "event" that ran in all 3 Punisher comics in the early 90s. After the "event" ended The Punisher War Journal began to focus entirely on the consequences of the aforementioned "event" and followed the series' supporting cast more than it did the actual Punisher himself.
While that was all going on the main Punisher title continued to follow the adventures of Frank Castle, mostly detailed the things that happened "in between" the events of what was happening in War Journal at the time.
The first arc in the post-Suicide Run era of the book was called "Fortress: Miami", which also saw the beginning of the Chuck Dixon era on the main Punisher title (Dixon had previously only been used as a fill-in writer on the title and had mostly worked on War Journal, War Zone, and various one-shots, "special" issues, and Annuals). And in keeping with Dixon's amazingly consistent ability to get paired with utterly fucking amazing artists on Punisher comics, it was drawn by the masterful Russ Heath, who's mostly famous for drawing those "100 TOY SOLDIER" ads that were on the backs of practically every comic in the 70s. Seriously, this is some top tier stuff on both the writing and art fronts and I'd very highly recommend it to anyone on Sup Forums.
