Just finished this masterpiece, and all I gotta say is holy fucking shit. I cannot even imagine the amount of work and soul put on this shit, and I can't even imagine how much it actually delivers. I read that this is visually stunning but it leaves a lot to be desired in the story department but that cannot be more wrong. There's a solid fantasy story here that unlike most it is actually filled with wonder and adventure and bravery and sacrifice and shit. This feels like the blueprint of Jackson's LOTR trilogy desu.
Most of all, I just love the atmosphere of this, I love how it feels dark and weird but never gets too alien to be uncomfortable, there's a deep lore going on here aswell that makes the world feel alive as fuck. And fucking hell the Skeksis, I mean, the Gelflings rarely do feel "alive" because they lack some expressions, but the Skeksis never feel like puppets, how did they manage to pull that shit off in 1982? Jesus Christ.
I'm fully into the puppet meme now, how good is Labyrinth?
