Jurassic Park comes out

>Jurassic Park comes out
>Some people wanna produce a cartoon of it.
>Steven Spielberg was having a bad day and hated it.

It would have made a good chunk of money for the series.
>Kenner making toys
Kids get the toys
>Cartoon with Dinosaurs?
How wouldn't kids love it?
>it came out in the 90s
A lot of cartoons based on films from the 80s and 90s were doing well
Extreme Ghosbuters? Godzilla the Animated Series? Men in Black? The Mask? Ace Ventura?

So why didn't they try for a second time?

My guess is Crichton objected, he seemed like the kind of guy who would do that, but I'm not sure how he would've convinced them not to do it.

I don't know, a JP cartoon would have watered down into something like TMNT or that Mortal Kombat cartoon. What would a JP cartoon even be about?

Most likely about dinosaurs.

It would probably be about Grant trying to protect the dinosaurs from poachers every episode.
It would have become very boring very fast.

It would have been shit user. Really, really shit.

If the quality of the comics was any indication, be glad a cartoon never happened.

>Grant stops poachers episode
>Grant stops dinosaurs leaving the island
>Raptors constantly causing shit
>Ingen and Biotech being at war
>Dinosaurs leave the island

Yeah, it'd get boring fast.

>doesn't want a raptor hijacking a cargo plane.

There is zero reason to milk the franchise aside from the standard “money” excuse.

So they shouldn't have made the toys either. Or the Sequels?

But what if the main villain was a hyper-intelligent talking velociraptor?

>comic relief raptor pet with dog mannerisms

Toys and other merch are a given. That’s to be expected. I’m talking about the sequels past #2. They should have stopped there.

Even World?

Dinosaurs suck.

It sounds like it would've been fucking amazing.

You'd run out of ideas *really* fast. Adaptations like Ghostbusters, Godzilla, and MIB all have a major advantage that JP doesn't - the threats faced by the main characters are bigger and less confined, you can send the Ghostbusters or the MIB to other neighborhoods, other cities, other countries, facing new and different threats. In JP everything is confined to the island(s), and therefore all of your plots have to be built around bringing your characters to the threats rather than bringing the threats to your characters, which is a LOT trickier to do as evidenced by the quality of the JP franchise's plots over the years.
>A group of scientists are hired to inspect a theme park with dinosaurs, but then some shit goes wrong
>There was a second island all along and the characters have to go there to stop poachers, also the main character's ex-girlfriend is there for some reason
>A kid gets lost on the second island of dinosaurs and the parents trick a paleontologist into coming to the island to help find him
>A new park full of dinosaurs was rebuilt on the first island, but then some shit goes wrong
A Jurassic Park show would suffer from the same problems as the franchise suffers from - there's only so many plots you can do when you're stuck in one place with one group of people and the only way to bring in new threats is to constantly come up with excuses to bring people from somewhere else.

>ghost busters
>had multiple seasons
>got a reboot/spinoff

And?

What reboot?

Also, anyone remember JP: Chaos Effect?

What are ya, fuckin stupid?

See
And
Chaos Effect was gonna be a thing too.

I found the story outline here: jurassicoutpost.com/entire-first-season-cancelled-jurassic-park-television-series-revealed-exclusive/

There's a PDF in the article.

Toffee, is that you?

Jurassic World is the prime example of “should never have happened” in the series. What is the internal logic happening with the public at large after 3 deadly incidents with dinosaur attacks where everyone just goes “oh cool let’s do this again.” And there’s STILL more movies on the way after the 4th disaster with human casualties.

You can be generous and say Jurassic Park 3 doesn’t count, but it STILL doesn’t excuse the other 2 canon fuckups.

Masrani did it for the same reason that anyone else would've: big, big munnies.

Speaking of Jurassic 3, the marketing website gave closure to the three pterosaurs that flew off at the films' end; they were captured in Canada by the team headed by Hoskins.

A fluff piece that doesn't go into any details about plots or characters, and a toy line does not, a successful, serialized animated series, make.

The bottom line is that eventually (probably inside of a season) they would have run out of ideas. There's only so many times you can have poachers come to the island or dinosaurs break out of confinement before it gets old

there's never really been a good cartoon involving dinosaurs, so a jurassic park one could work as long as it was good

unrelated, but the girl from jp1 was hot as hell to kid me

Chaos Effect almost got a cel-shaded CG toon.

And people are wondering how it would last? Thats easy: let 'em loose all over the world.

Read The plan was Hammond trying to start the park up again with the intent of making it more of a scientific research outpost and bringing the characters from the original film back to help him. However, BioSyn manages to succeed in retrieving the canister and fasttracks their own dinosaur park in Brazil that goes about as well as you'd expect. Feeling the pressure, Hammond changes his mind and decides to go back to opening the park to the public, which just ends up pissing off the rest of the cast. The Season One finale ends at the park dedication with Hammond's words of "Welcome to Jurassic Park"

Season 3 could be the Ingen dinos fighting the BioSyn ones.
