I wish Scooby-Doo would be good again.

It has that weird sense in the more dated it becomes, the better. Maybe that's just the ultimate secret to Scooby-Doo. It ages better than it releases. It's a staple of the times.

The first live-action film is unwatchable trash because of the conflict between the creators wanting to make an adult parody and the studio wanting a marketable kids' film. The second one is much better because it at least knows what it wants to be.

Be Cool is a good show.

You're right. There's that fine line between dated and just a time period marker that some films have.

Where else could we have had Sugar Ray be the center piece of a "scare" moment.

Also true. But I think the movie hits both grooves every now and then despite the internal conflict between them. That whole bit where they're all happy after finding the first clue was so comfy.

Dat time Velma came onto Daphne

>Where else could we have had Sugar Ray be the center piece of a "scare" moment.
My dreams, at night.

The Flashbacks should have been kept in the film. The Fred one in particular was pure gold.

>...a man in a mask!

>spoiler
OUT

Linda Cardellini is a goddess.

That was actually in one of the first trailers. So somewhere out there is a fully complete and widescreen version of that scene.

Mandatory.

it had a really solid cast, like no other movie has been able to match it

I love how early 2000s the two live action Scooby-Doo movies are

The guy who acted shaggy said he watched as much shaggy material as there was available because he grew up watching scooby doo and wanted to cement his acting of shaggy.
I couldn't have asked him to do a better job

I THINK COOLSVILLE SUCKS

>this got cut from the movie
youtube.com/watch?v=QepaSw6w5bs

By the way, the Luna Ghost was supposed to be the main villain in the first script

Matthew Lillard was the most perfect choice for a live action Shaggy

Almost all of the deleted scenes should have stayed in. Especially that bit where Shaggy sees Daphne's soul get taken out.

Gotta have some spookiness in it.

2002-2005 was a nice art style, I remeber having an 8-part dvd of that style. 2010-2013 looks like it goes back to the roots while 2015 was animated by japs I think. And they butchered the style pretty badly.

Reminder that this movie only gets better with every new movie that's shittier.

Lillard was so perfect he still voices Shaggy in the cartoons

That OP is absolutely comfy. Did they use the song anywhere else, I remember it playing somewhere during the movie I think?

The guy who played Shaggy in this movie went on to do his voice since. What are the odds?

During the end credits IIRC

very high because he has become the archetypal "Shaggy" due to his perfection of the role. When you think shaggy you think of this guy saying "Scoobs"

I believe Lillard once said that the Shaggy role ruined his career, everyone only saw Shaggy when he was around

But he is also grateful he still gets to do voice work

Yeah, I suppose if Kit Harington does anything but John Snow then everyoen will be making winter jokes and king-in-the-north jokes and knowledge jokes.

Yeah, he was really sour on the movies, but after he's become the main voice that tune changed right away

Holy shit, we just decided to watch that movie a couple of days ago for literally no reason. That scene with the dated for the time "teen lingo" is actually hysterical

He's arguably gotten even better over his years voicing the character

>tfw we'll never have a third movie with 00s nostalgia and see the characters dealing with modern problems

I wonder what James Gunn thinks about the final product, since he wrote the first two

>2002-2005 was a nice art style

I actually agree to an extent. While in my opinion the character designs in that series were my favorite the color palette was a bit too bright and saturated especially compared to most series that came before or after it.

Gunn said that his script had more adult jokes

Am I the only one who HATES Scooby-Doo in live action, period? Even that poster in the OP looks SO fucking fake.

And they sound like the most sophomoric sutf

90~00s posters were really awful
Pic related, everyone's faces are photoshopped and Kurt Russell doesn't even look like this in the movie, they literaly took a random picture of him and did this

They should have left these in the movie

...

IN THE LAND OF
ONE MILLION DRUMS
THERE IS ALWAYS
SOMETHING GOING
ON, ON.

ON, ON.

I unironically want to fuck APNSD Velma

And this too
youtube.com/watch?v=uOOEwMOtvLI

I never realized that Daphne was played by Buffy

That poster still looks a million times better though

should they do a rerelease of this film with all of the deleted scenes added back into it?

Get Shout Factory on it

These movies were nostalgic guilty pleasures of mine. Seriously dont have a problem with these because how can you take a show about a talking dog and teenage retards seriously.

Fuck you, you just made me check if Terrordrome got any new updates.

CHISPAS

2006 Daph is the only acceptable design in that era.

Velma's design is pretty ok

So has Linda Cardellini.

Holy shit what the fuck is 2006 - 2008? I have never seen that garbage before

Get a Clue.
Shaggy was Scott Menville, and they fought Venture Bros villains.

Even after he starred in the Descendents?

Linda and Matt cameos in GotG 3 plox.
Wait, shit, I just remember Linda is already MCU Mrs. Hawkeye and probably will be killed by death by then.

And both were basically not on the show, because it was all Shaggy and Scooby and their robot butler.

We need a fan edit that puts all the deleted scenes back in

Does the blu-ray have the deleted scenes in hi-def?

>remember that Shaggy once sounded like casey Kasem when he left from the role
>find out it’s some guy named Scott Innes
Whatever happened to him? Why did he leave?

The last one makes me irrationally angry to look at

Velma’s actress voiced Velma’s rival/girlfriend in Scooby Doo: Mystery Incorporated

He killed it in Twin Peaks this year. The dude deserves more work.

Beacuse it looks like Family Guy.

I always thought he'd be great as The Riddler

I want to do dirty things to Linda Cardellini in this movie.

That bland Voltaire looking mother fucker she gets with us a lucky guy.

I can totally see this

I'm still waiting for the third part

>girlfriend

You wish.

Say what you will about his work, but Gunn really is a class act. I admire how appreciative he is of his coworkers.

...

Same, it's a shame that they went for a Brickleberry look. So many people missed out on a pretty alright show

>tfw we'll never see the directors cut
>with unedited cleavage
>and lesbian scene
it's not fair.

>and lesbian scene

Nah. Bland Voltaire looking guy forever!

I don't suppose anyone has ever made an edit with all of the cut scenes put back in?

The trick is getting those scenes in good enough quality.

They're on the blu-ray as bonus features aren't they?

I have no clue. But if they are they might also be full screen and I think the Daphne Soul scene you can find online switches between the two formats.

Bland Voltaire or Seth Green?

>Seth Green anything

>Additional Scenes (480p, Dolby Digital 2.0, 13:32 min)

480p doesn't sound promising

bump

user, I have some bad news...

Lies.
The second movie showed that they had their own version of Pup Named Scooby Doo going on

youtu.be/f_1g3rVBmos

What did James Gunn mean by this?

That's exactly how I felt.

"How is this a prequel when Monsters Unleashed said A Pup Named Scooby Doo is canon?"

"Also why isn't Fred blond?"

This is so cringy. She's acting exactly like how me and my bff used to act when we were like 9 years old and doing lewd things together.

>The second movie showed that they had their own version of Pup Named Scooby Doo going on
Huh, I don't remember that

She looks just like Dendy from OK KO

06-08 was even a thing? I don't remember ever seeing even a commercial or something.
the new series is just garbage and i'm fucking angry that they cancelled Mystery INC for that shit.

This is the best Scooby-Doo OP and you can't prove me wrong

youtube.com/watch?v=FpjsMnI3htA

They go back to their old clubhouse and the Chickenstein costume shows up

Totally agree. WNSD has the best soundtrack of all the series.
I mean, not that it has much competition, but it's amazing anyways.

>I was gonna solve the mystery all by myself for the first time ever
>And how were you gonna save yourself when you got caught?

Eh. It wasn't the worst thing, but it was too self aware for its own good. It came out when all the remakes and reboots were simply parodies of the things they were based on. I liked the second one better, which felt a lot more like Scooby Doo.

youtube.com/watch?v=EThBJ6IiP9w

>Shaggy doesn't like Lillard

I didn't know the racy material got far enough into production for an R-rated cut to actually exist.
For the 20th anniversary can they release that shit?? Please??

2015 and 2006-2008 are so fucking horrible to look at.

The porno helped.
