Why do black people, generally, like terrible music? From a scientific perspective, I can see some trends and data: black people tend to have a lower IQ than their non-black counterparts and the structure of rap, hip hop, and r&b is, on the whole, much simpler to perceive and repetitive than other genres. I can see the draw but it'd fascinating when you listen to the hyper repetitive synthetic drum "beats," the mindless (or often violent and dangerous) lyrics, and unsubstantiated racism, it is incredible that they still sell records.
There's really no sense to it except the possibility that blacks are selling almost exclusively to blacks now. The 1950s-70s saw black musicians rise quite high in popularity. The type and quality of the music is much different too.
