I just finished Transmetropolitan and I can't believe how good it was and how late I arrived to the party.
I just want to discuss anything about it and recommend it to anyone who hasn't read it yet.

I felt that it was pretty weak towards the end.

i liked main story, but some issues felt a bit weak. Smiler was a cool villain through

I haven't gotten around to reading it myself, sell me on it user

I read volume 1. I typically enjoy Ellis but I wasn't wild about Transmet.

I feel that Warren Ellis is fat and short and this comic is a personal attack on POTUS. Sad. Many such cases. Beast has an eight pack.

This is the future, and the future is the same shit it's now. Stupid fuckers go around saying and doing stupid shit, making the world a bleaker place. America is a shithole and the center of it is The City.
Spider, a renowned journalist, knows it and feels it more than anyone, that's why he has been 5 years living in a mountain. Too bad he's got a contract that binds him to write two books, so he strolls back into the city in order to write a weekly column ("I Hate It Here") about The City.

It's so outdated, they don't even use the internet

I've read it but don't remember anything about the main story, only some background stuff

>personal attack on POTUS
...which one???

But they do.

Did you have a stroke while typing that?

I really enjoyed its dystopian future, for all its worth. It is fucked up beyond all recognition compared to our standards, but it is an inhabitable society, it might have more freedom than we do, regarding what you can and cannot do with your body. It really melted my brain when I realized it's just as fucked up here as it is there. It's a comfy dystopian future, that might as well be our present. It's not worse, just different.

Also, it touches on great sci-fi elements, like foglets, that I rarely see elsewhere, or not at all.

The characters are great homages to real people that lived and died in some absurd fashion.

The final pages are just perfect for the story.

Basically it's Taxi Driver in comic form. Crazy guy complains about the "filth" of the world around him, all the while contributing to it.

The only one.

Maybe if I’d had to type it instead of cutting and pasting.

>all the while contributing to it
What are you talking about?
Spider is the only thing worth a damn in the City because he's committed to the only thing that matters in it.

>We need a voice.
I think the internet has proven that theory to be false.

The internet is not a voice but a lot of voices talking with each other at the same time, most of them just saying what they want to be truth instead of the truth. What the new scum need is a voice to speak for and to them not a tool to speak trought. Someone who cares about them while not being one of them.

Wew. Eat Poop.

Apparently you missed the part where he's a massive hypocrite who does pretty much the exact same damn thing he criticizes everyone else for.

It seems I did because I can't recall him being a rapist, funding a religion, hiring child prostitutes or killing people to gain sympathy. I believe Spider can be called many things but he's no hypocrite, he's in Rorschach sociopathic levels of no compromise.
But please enlighten me.

Wrong page. I wanted to post this one.

>not compromising is sociopathic
Ah, you must be a pragmatist.
Pragmatism is the world venom that poisons the soul.

>"One percent."
Absolutely perfect. Loved that ending.

Would you?

It basically predicted Hillary vs Trump.

I'm not.
It is.
I don't see how this has anything to do with the discussion of the comic. In fact, his no compromising is one of the reasons I say he's no hypocrite.

Pragmatism and compromise are integral themes of the book. Also honesty, integrity and the balance between personal freedoms and society's protection.
All things that remain relevant today.

Yeah you're right. I was expecting for the user who called Spider a hypocrite to reply so your insult came out of nowhere for me.
Last panel related.

This, after the election it falls off

But in the real world the Beast won

That was his bid for the second term though.

>implying trump believes in shit

Hey, OP, now that you're done with Transmetropolitan, may I recommend Prez? It's like Transmet for kids. Sadly, it's only 6 issues.

Both of them are amalgamations of Beast or Smiler to different degrees, Hillary isn't quite Smiler and Trump is too pampered and isn't quite primally motivated to be Beast.

Haha upvoted fellow redditor XDDDD fuck Drumpf and fuck white people

Nigger your stupid memes won't get you very far in here. If you don't think Trump is a piece of shit I can't see what you can find in Transmetropolitan without starting to sperg out inmediately just like you did in your post.
Just the fact of wanting to be POTUS is despicable by this comic ethics.

Where is the third Absolute Edition? I have the first two and have been waiting for the third forever. I'm getting worried. Th-they're not going to forget it, right anons?

> If you don't think Trump is a piece of shit

So far he's proven out to be Bush 0.9 when it comes to all important decisions. Not quite as bad yet because he hasn't started a costly war yet. Something people tend to forget thanks to how much news keep bombarding us about how Trump opened a door the wrong way or raised his eyebrow in a misogynistic manner.

all of 'em
Basically. I expected far more depressing stories from both Transmet and Prez before I read them.

>Bush 0.9
Is that supposed to be a good thing?
So far he got elected by promising a fucking wall. I stopped caring after that, I'm not american so enjoy being in the center of the empire, I'll keep being a third wold shitter angry at your country for owning the world.

Sad you dont have a trip so I can filter you forever

>enjoy being in the center of the empire, I'll keep being a third wold shitter angry at your country for owning the world
Was this supposed to be insulting? The former unironically sounds better than the latter.

>Was this supposed to be insulting?
No, why would it be? I was just stating the reason why your words about Trump's administration fall on deaf ears.

>So far he's proven out to be Bush 0.9 when it comes to all important decisions.
So, a piece of shit?

Ellis said in an interview that since Transmetropolitan, on every election, there are people who will identify one candidate as the Smiler and the other as the Beast.
I don't remember what he said specifically about Trump vs Hillary.
media.mit.edu/events/mltalks-warren-ellis/

he did took that assistant to an orgy and didnt warn her to protect herself from the mindwashing drugs that would turn her into a pornstar

yet he did protect himself. that was really scummy of him

>Liberian flag.

But why?
