"Sure thing young lad."

No

Yes. Doomsday clock is so great. Prequals are however homosexual.

*blocks your path*

"Sure think kiddo!" Despite what certain "comic" boards would think, I love DC!"

Moore probably wouldn't be a dick to a child, I think, but I don't think he'd sign it either.

I don't think he would either but what writer would sign something they had nothing to do with anyway?

And that kid grew up to be Grant Morrison.

What, did someone send his own written comic to him from the future?

Hyper Crisis is getting hard to follow.

he would spend half an hour explaining to the kid why he wouldn't sing it and then offer to sign something else

does he have chilis?

Get second hand embarrassment every time I remember Geoff Johns and Gary Frank and Brad Anderson all got together to create a companion piece to Watchmen that they genuinely felt was challenging the original.

The next few months are going to be rough.

Stan Lee literally signs anything marvel. Ghost Rider, Punisher, Wolverine, he doesnt give a fuck.

Stan Lee is a whore.

>next few months
You mean next year? Because it's 12 issues and being released monthly.

user he's blind

Ughh. I thought this was a regular 6 issue event.

No way they have enough material for 12 issues.

I think its funny he didn't even consult Gibbons or think to ask Moore out of fear
"I don't even think he has a phone" when Ellis, Levitz and other DC staples have regular conversation with him

I don't get why you guys are getting so angry over it. You could just ignore it and pretend it doesn't exist.

Not if we're following a cape book at DC too.

I'll ignore it but shitpost every time someone says something positive about it, Johns, or DC at all
fucking retarded faggots liking this have no standards or self-respect whatsoever

Based Stan.

what did he mean by this?

Alan Moore isn't bitter and grumpy as people think he is.

based dubs
seriously he's like the chillest guy, just doesn't grovel to corporate dollars
dude's about to save libraries in London, just writes crazy thousand page novels for funsies, raps, writes intros to crazy little indie art books and a million other things
people just hate on him cuz he doesn't want his shit adapted into a million things because he's really loves the comics he made

I don't get whats wrong with that

>he doesn't want his shit adapted into a million things because he's really loves the comics he made
I can respect that.

>I don't get whats wrong with that
>doesn't suck up to corporate cock
That's anti-American.

like his complaint with the V for Vendetta movie was that when they changed the overall themes, added dumb action and made into a thinly veiled Bush allegory, Moore asked "why couldn't they just make their own thing?"
Moore loves comics more than like anyone and people just meme hate on him

>making things independently and gaining success based on your talent
Moore is 'Murica
he doesn't like this socialist milk his art for all its worth bullshit

You need to try the rump of a sacred cow; it tastes delicious!

Didn't they also change the villain's name from Adam Susan to Adam Sutler just so they can make a Hitler joke?

I'm happy knowing that Doomsday Clock will still sell fantastically and give all the dipshits and autists who treat Watchmen like a sacred cow hernias with how ass blasted they will be.

Why would Geoff consult Moore? He knows Moore would probably refuse to reply, or yell at him.

I wonder who's accent is thicker, his or Morrison's.

Also writes out thoughtful and full responses to letters children write him.

It's not about "muh sacred cow", you retards. It's about creative bankruptcy.

We need to make a bingo card for all the viral marketing Doomsday Clock will receive

>MUH SACRED COW
>Moore is a hack
>false-flagging about Rorschach being black
>it's not just a good sequel, it's BETTER
>relax fanboys, Johns cares about the source material
>Johns' is a better writer than Moore anyway
>Doomsday Clock will outsell Watchmen
>fans of Watchmen are autists

I liked the first issue, think the idea is interesting and would never post any of that, all of that's retarded

To be fair, he's just posting shit other people have said about Doomsday Clock

>>relax fanboys, Johns cares about the source material

Johns Dislikes what Watchmen did. I think the fact he knows its good but doesn't love it means he will make sure its treated properly not like some magic sacred text.

You know, swapping out "cow" for "text" doesn't really prove wrong... just saying.

theres literally nothing wrong with Doomsday Clock amd i think Johns is aware of what hes messing with so hes not going to half ass it

I just treat it as ambitious fanfiction for the moment. We'll see if it's a worthy sequel to the original, but at least it's fun. I like Johns anyway, and the art is great.

Although I understand why people are wary because before Watchmen was fucking tragic.

ive beeb treating is the same way, in the end wether is sucks or not i still have the original story

Yeah, and in the comics "Susan" was a pansy, but they wanted a powerful leader for the film.

Same can be applied to Don Rosa

So if I hand Stan Lee a legal document, let's say a will or a check, in the guise of a comic book...

Johns's Fohns and Sohns. Formerly Alan's.

It's a sacred cow with a rabid fanbase. They hate it for existing.

Huge Watchmen fan here.
Doomsday Clock so far is great. If you re-read the original comic, it was with issue #3 when the comic really started to get layered and dense, and went from being the best comic of the decade, to the best of all time.

So far, I am hyped about how this is being handled.

What's up with this picture?

They made the symbol of the party a double cross because muh christians too. The political side of the movie is completely parodical

As i understand Moore befriended an artist named Jimmy Cauty that recently focused on riots as a theme, that's supposed to be a riot shield he made for Moore

"Watchmen is the reason I write edgy comics"
- Geoff Johns

You must have a lot of faith to think that Johns would go from writing Michael Bay tier comics to Alan Moore tier overnight.

...

That is pretty damn cool.

Didn't know those came round shaped too

Geoff "I blame an old man for my own inadequacies and creative bankruptcy" Johns

Geoff "I've been told to use Watchmen because WB wants something promoting their TV show so i might as well pretend it's about hope or some shit" Johns

For me it's more that Geoff Johns unironically thinks his book is just as good as Watchmen or he was capable of writing a book just as good as Watchmen, really.

>We'll see if it's a worthy sequel to the original
It's not. The first issue tells you it's not.

You're judging a comic on its first issue? Have you read Watchemen's first issue?

Hey, remember when people were allowed to like any kind of comic book?

lol

Yes and yes. Just go read both first issues and put them against each other now, back to back or simultaneously.

Doomsday Clock is not going to be a fucking Watchmen, my man.

They still are. People are also allowed to not like one.

Alan Moore is actually really nice to kid fans from what I've seen.

The use of the Horace Smith poem boggles my goddamn mind. Johns might be intending to say this will be a lesser retread, but his relationship to Moore on the topic is miles from what Shelley and Smith wrote in game-like competition.

Or perhaps he means it as a direct challenge, but no-one on his book is capable of that. His attempts to copy the voice of the characters as Moore wrote them had me cringing. Visually it's not even a tenth as well put together or distinctive, and I actually like Gary Frank.

Alan has moore thickness to his accent.

iF HE IS SO SMART WHY DOES HE HAVE CANCER?

>Doomsday Clock is not going to be a fucking Watchmen, my man.

No one is expecting it to be. But not everyone is going to hate it irrationally after only one issue.

Explain how I hate it irrationally.

Dude, I'm not going to argue with you over this. If you want to base your whole opinion of a comic on one issue, good for you. Just don't shit on people who are willing to give it a chance.

Goddamn I hate neo/co/.

>neo/co/
Nigga, what? I didn't even say I hated DC, I said it wasn't going to be a worthy successor to Watchmen and that was clear from the first issue

>neo/co/
It's likely I've been here longer than you.

>morrison liking doomsday clock

The guy created an entire universe to explore watchmen themes and ideas without the need of doing what johns is doing.

pax americana has way more artistic merits in one page than in the entire first issue of doomsday clock. Morrison isnt happy with modern DC and there's a reason he won't work in continuity anymore. He likes johns, but he clearly doesnt like what johns is doing

>created a universe
>all Charlston heroes

Yes, that genius imagineer Morrison who created every Charlston hero ever.

He doesnt, he knows watchmen didnt change the industry, all that talk is bait for casuals (like you).

Watchman didnt change anything, the whole "this is about ideas" is just a publicity stunt, johns may be an idiot but he knows the truth, only the dumbest casual would believe that, and that's the public that will like this event, that's the public that loves johns

>Goddamn I hate neo/co/.
Fuck off.

People like you were defending Darkseid War and saying it would get good. You are just a dirty fanboy to a mediocre writer.

>image made to hype up the new multiverse
>shows several people from series that didn't get Earths in the new multiverse
Supergirl from Elseworld's Finest
Joker from JLA: The Nail
Robin from Robin 3000
Rorschach from Watchmen
Superman from The Dark Side
GL from Secret Society of Super-Heroes
What did DC mean by this?

Guess we can add >Watchmen is for casuals to

>I need to autistically compile every recurring post in these threads because I'm a no-life bitch who wasted his 20s harping on children's picture books

Mcfucking choke to death

you failed to understand that post, no wonder you like doomsday clock.

This has interesting connotations regarding how Zack Snyder's life has gone since Watchmen...

It's like Moore is a wizard or something.

Johns is a whole asshole
every single franchise he's touched has been ruined so bad no other writer can even fix it
JSA
Teen Titans
Flash
GL
Justice League
all complete and utter shit because of him

Moore didnt care about the watchman movie and didnt watched it.

But Moore has compared Johns to a racoon playing on his garbage in the past.

This
Superman's been building to this shit since rebirth began.

But GL was good.

he literately ruined the franchise reducing DC's cosmic into retarded color wars since, even though half the colors are just cannon folder

It hasnt aged well, and was a fine comic, but it was never as good as his JSA, GL is not longer a cosmic comic, know it's all about bullshit colors, a stupud fanfic johns came with when he was 11 years old, he has been using his influence to keep it that way,

Could someone recommend Alan Moore stuff please? I've read What Happened to The Man of Tomorrow but I want to know more of Moore's work. Maybe there's a Sup Forums recommended chart?

based Moore

Saga of The Swamp Thing

readcomiconline.to/Comic/Top-10

There you go.

Lost Girls.

>he has been using his influence to keep it that way,

I don't agree with that, he should let others develop their own vision. But I still think his run is very good for what it is.

>tells people not to read Doomsday Clock
>angrily "dissects" why Doomsday Clock is terrible in every way compared to original

Avoid Neonomicon and Lost Girls, everything else is fair game. You can read those later.

And?

That's a good thing, that means someone won't read doomsday clock out of curiosity.

This is what every critic does. I actually like Horrock's criticism, it feels like there's an actual voice there compared to 99% of critics and "reviews" on comics, but the Doomsday Clock stuff is dumb as fuck.

It feels like a lot of people haven't lined up what they're supposedly against in Doomsday Clock with what actions they therefore take.
