Could a Mortal Kombat/DCEU crossover movie work?
Could a Mortal Kombat/DCEU crossover movie work?
Mortal Kombat doesn't deserve that indignity.
How about an MKEU? Could that potentially work?
Why did they stop making MK comics?
Wait for the next game.
Apparently they didn't sell very well so DC pulled the plug
It was just promotional material for MKX, wait for MK11 to roll around to get more comics to be completely ignored and contradicted by the game.
Yeah it could, MK's story shouldn't be that difficult to adapt. It's just too bad Hollywood doesn't have anyone who gives a damn about video games to actually make it work though.
Zack Snyder's take on all of MK's kooky revenge plots.
They would have to throw everything they had at it, because the public isn't too fond of video game movies.
The first movie was good. The second was trash. The TV show was okay. Haven't watched the youtube ones except for the "realistic" trailer
The only appeal of a reboot would be actual blood and gore since the first movie pretty much covered it.
>How about an MKEU?
MK's universe and story is jsut a gumbo of all the movies and comic books Boon/Tobias liked as a teenager.
That doesn't make it bad or not fun, but there's not a lot there and the franchise was always at its worst when it crawled all the way up its own ass about its lore. The reason the first MK movie worked was because it was just a ripoff of the things that Boon/Tobias also ripped off to make MK and kept it simple.
>Haven't watched the youtube ones except for the "realistic" trailer
They vary pretty wildly in quality.
>MK11 will have a comic tie in
I wish
I would legitimately have Sub-Zero make a cameo in in the DCEU. He is the only character that I think would fit in the DCU
He fits seamlessly into Injustice 2 at least
>The only appeal of a reboot would be actual blood and gore since the first movie pretty much covered it.
What about making it actually accurate to the game? (other than the blood obviously)
For what it was worth I actually like the first movie, and normies wouldn't know/care for it, but shit like Scorpion shooting a snake out of his hand or Scorpion/Sub being controlled by Shang and the heroes taking them down really pissed me off.
Can't wait for the Sub-Zero, Scorpion and Raiden solo movies
>no movie for the mvp
That'll be Phase 2 along with Kano and Goro
Honestly? Yes!
Setting aside the straight-up adaptations of the main games, Mortal Kombat has enough characters like Scorpion and The Great Kung Lao to base stand-alone origin films upon
And there's always the possibility of making in-universe films of Johnny Cage's filmography
Surprisingly yes, there's a shitton of lore in MK universe and many of the fighters carry an interesting history to them.
>Shirai Ryu vs. Lin Kuei feat. Quan-Chi
>Special Forces vs. the Black Dragon
>Johnny Cage discovering his powers
>Shaolin Monks
>Shinnok getting imprisoned by the Elder Gods
>literally everything in Outworld
No joke, you can actually construct a cinematic universe out of Mortal Kombat if you were to start with an MK movie and spin-off into standalones.
Every time they talk about a modern MK movie now, whatever hipster asshole they've got wanting to direct talks about modernizing it into basically Saw with martial artists instead of properly recapturing the Enter the Dragon/Big Trouble in Little China feel it's supposed to be all about.
MK isn't dark and gritty just because it has gore, dammit. Look at the color palette, those games look like Guardians or Ragnarok.
For me, it's the Kintaro and Goro team up movie.
Yeah, a Mortal Kombat movie should reflect the media that inspired it instead going for an uber dark and grim take. Even recent games that have gone in a more serious tone still have a ton of goofy shit in it
The worst parts of MKX and the Injustice games are all tied to the desaturated color palette and attempts to focus on more "down-to-earth" characters. You can kind of tell they knew it even as they were doing it too with X because they had this grand idea to make Scorpion human again and then remembered "oh yeah, all his special moves are undead powers, he didn't have abilities before" so he got to keep his fucking specter abilities despite it not making story sense.
The best scenes of MKX was Kotal and his Outworld crew just discussing things. Why is it the coolest characters (Erron Black, Reptile, Ermac) are relegated to jobbing henchmen while the fucking Kombat Kids are the main focus?
I wish they would make a TV show based on MK for HBO
Scott Adkins as Johnny Cage
Michael Jai white as Jax
Chow Yun Fat as Raiden
Manu Bennett as Kano
Katrina Law as Kitana
Brian Tee as Kung Pao (he sucked as edgy Liu Kang)
Can't really think of who could play Liu Or Sonya
