Let's cast the Watchmen movie as if it were made in 1987. I'll start:
>Peter Weller as Rorschach
Watchmen
With the right outfit, wig or extensions or growing out hair, I think Lea Thompson would make a good Silk Spectre II
Laurie was like in her 30s
The only person who should be playing Rorschach is Robin Williams.
If this was made in 1987 like OP said, Lea would be around 26, and even still, I think she has the right look
I think Brad Dourif would be a better Rorschach.
For some reason I can see James Woods making a good Rorschach, even though he looks more like Note Owl. Ozymandias is obviously pic related.
Nite Owl, feck.
To not waste a post, Jennifer Connely as Silk Spectre, but only in the flashbacks where she’s a teenager.
>not making him the comedian.
I'd have De Niro for Comedian.
Laurie's gotta be someone just past their prime.
Though since there's gotta be flashbacks, I suppose you could cast someone younger and then use makeup (or lack thereof) to make her look a bit older for the main movie.
I always imagined Ozy looking like Hasslehoff, with a haircut and different hair color of course
OP, here. I always pictured pic related ad Ozymandias.
Jamie Lee Curtis?
Weller would be a better manhattan
HA OMG THAT IS WICKED
Michael Keaton might be a decent Nite Owl.
What would a Dr. Manhattan with early 90s effects and budget even look like?
I based this slightly off the Terry Gilliam version.
I would probably have picked Joanna Cameron
Claudia Wells
wouldn't this fit better on Sup Forums
No faggot Sup Forums doesn’t know shit about comics.
I thought that, but then I thought that the comic board would be more suitable to cast a comic movie.
I could see them rotoscoping him. Would create that “not quite human anymore” feeling, plus it could help get his dick past the censors.
Jackie Earle is the voice, i gotta give it to him, fits the character pretty good
I would want 80's era Mel Gibson as Comedian.
Rotoscoping would probably be the best bet.
>I would want 80's era Mel Gibson as Comedian.
Was about to post this.
Who would the 80s director be? my pick is Sam Raimi, Squid scene with him directing could be God tier
Sam Raimi is a good choice. Bring in Robin Bottin on make-up and effects, and you're golden.
Probably too old, but Charles Bronson as the Comedian
Comedian's an old guy, he would have fit the role well at the time.
IMAGINE
schwarzenegger would make a good dr. manhatten if he could deliver his lines without making them unintentionally hilarious
him being there would make the movie be all about him at least in the audience's mind, and that fits dr. manhatten, the inconsequential god in the room that everyone pays attention to
WHYEE DUZZ MYEE PORSEPTIONN UF TYEME DEESTRESS YU
Night Owl II
I never thought about this. That's perfect.
Ahnuld would make sense because he was the popular image of the ubermensch at the time. But his acting would ruin it, unfortunately.
Imagine schumacher directing it. Pure kino with Arnold's dick close-ups
Lundgren is the only man on Earth who could look imposing in those purple drapes, you're right
He could handle his dialogue in Terminator 1 and 2 pretty well.
I also think he's great in Conan the Barbarian but I fucking love that movie and I know I'm standing alone in that opinion
>Watchmen in the 80's
>full squid made of practical effects
damn i want to see this
for the extra irony
Christopher Reeve as Doc Manhatten
Perfect
Kurt Russel might not be a bad comedian for the time.
In that same vein:
James Hong as Moloch.
Or hell, vincent price as moloch.
Who would play the original Silk Spectre? Laurie's mom.
If it were being made in 1987, then I don't know who I'd cast.
But I'd want David Lynch to direct; I think he'd get the uncomfortable psychology of the characters pretty well and be more inventive in adapting it to film that Snyder was.
Have Dennis Hopper play the Comedian.
...
Elizabeth Taylor
Beau Starr (sheriff meeker in Halloween 4-5) as The Comedian.
John Carpenter
...
James Cameron
Dr. Manhattan
Paul Verhoeven
robocop, total recall, basic instinct, starship troopers, hollow man
Weller would probably be a better Doc Manhattan, he has a very cold sounding monotone voice
Rutger Hauer would probably have been an excellent Comedian
Comedian
1987 is before CGI, It would've been easier to cast for the flashbacks and make them look older than to cast old and make them look younger. Christopher Lloyd was only in his 40's when they made Back to the Future, 50's Doc is his real age and the "normal" Doc is a wig and makeup. Which is why in the sequels, since 80's Doc was gonna have all the screentime, there's literally a scene where they have him peel age makeup off and make up an excuse about getting plastic surgery.
Fucking l o l
I feel the opposite. Weller is pretty ugly. Manhattan is supposed to be a literal superman.
Hauer would actually be a good pick for Manhattan.
Yeah, well, the shark still looks fake.
Id actually make him Ozymandias
I did like some aspects of the movie.
Like them playing up Nite Owl and Rorschach's friendship more, so Nite Owl tries to calm Rorschach down and actually sees his death.
Shame Synder had to snyder and have Night Owl's beatdown on Ozy be slowmotion. That completely ruined the drama of the moment for me.
Reminder that HBO has ordered a pilot for a watchmen series, since I never actually saw anything for it on here
vulture.com
He looked the same to me after peeling the mask
I thought that was the joke
Counterpoint: I see Young Val Kilmer
He wouldn't even have to act
yeah this would be right up Verhoevens alley
Nicholson is the only person I could see playing the Comedian
Why not go for the original?
What is Nicholson even doing these days? I know he isn't acting much if at all
He's really old and I heard his health is fading
Only if Minutemen era Eddie is played by Christian Slater.
That actually works pretty well
Harrison Ford is the best choice for Ozymandias.
He plays some of the most iconic heroes of all time. The big twist in the final act, would have changed the way the world saw heroes.
>lindelof
Who should be the Minutemen?
I'm thinking
Kane Hodder as Hooded Justice, Paul Neuman as old Hollis, Michael Douglas as Captain Metropolis.
I submit to you Goldblum as Dan Dreiberg.
Jesus fuck the things we can't have.
100% not Rorschach. His voice is too fantastic. Either Manhattan or Ozymandias.
Not bad at all.
>Jesus fuck the things we can't have.
Blame the Sam Hamm script for turning Moore off the idea of adaptations.
5/10 passable but forgettable
3/10 too young
9/10 the original choice
6/10 got the bod, but needs to act intelligent and carry the last act
hoff/10 depends on how mature they were allowed to make the movie
4/10 too wild and strange, never pulled off a great reserved role at that age
speaks for itself
8/10
Indeed, that is a picture of Claudia Wells
8/10 Too young, but has the attitude, and make-up would help fix most issues
9 caliber/10
8/10 plays emotionless well, but would probably need a voice-over, or voice alteration
10/10 unexpected, and inevitable. Perfect.
???/10 Haven't seen his films.
???
8/10 a great choice for the time
8/10 but only for the younger comedian
Blue Beetle/10
9/10
9/10
???/10 Not sure to think of this one.
6/10 as Night Owl II, 8.5/10 as Manhattan
too hot
Made some alterations based on the thread.
fuck you for spamming up the thread
You don't know what spam is do you?
80s emma watson was fantastic
>In February 2017, it was reported that Nicholson would be starring in an English-language remake of Toni Erdmann opposite Kristen Wiig. It will be his first feature film role since 2010.[69]
Apparently he is working on a new project. Probably got bored with retirement.
Sir Sean Connery is the only major A-list actor to remain retired for over a decade, and not just quit because of scandal, or health reasons.
One post responding to comments on the thread is not spam.
In that case, Sigourney Weaver would have been ideal at that time.
You mean replying to every single post with your "ratings" that add nothing to the thread?
Christopher Lee and Ernest Borgnine never retired, though in their later years they did more voice acting which was not as physically demanding as live action.
She was actually considered for the cast, along with Williams, back in the 1980's, when they pitched the film.
Lynda Carter could have also worked.
Perhaps Carrie Fisher, she would have been just over 30 in 1987.
Shirley MacLaine
Fuck off.
That's just shitposting, not spam.
