That's THE TWIST!

Him killing gangsters & street criminals would supposedly be racist and promote vigilantes and gun culture.

just wait until it turns out that Chinese mafia hired the government goons to fake the hit to kill franks family

I don't really care who he's Franking, I just don't understand how this is supposed to fit with Daredevil.

>I thought his family was killed in a sting gone wrong?
In those silly comic books for children, maybe.

Marvel Television, though, aims at higher levels of writing.

I'm talking about the Daredevil show you worthless troll

It felt like a half assed excuse to do another origin for Frank, even though Daredevil already covered it.

This, the first season should have been him being Punisher to the Max. Boosting guns, ammo, etc. Destroying drugs, money, taking down gangs, organized crime and any other scum bucket in his war path.

Actually it should have been about him building himself up as a vigilante. Like, "Okay Frank, you've got a couple of guns, some ammo, and a police radio, but no intel, no sources, limited financial resources, transportation, and base of operations. How are you gonna make that work?"

As someone who fucking LOVES punisher comics, how much would i love or hate the show? I'm a die hard fan but don't want to see changes that don't fit his character or a completely dif character with the same name

I've been kind of disappointed with the Punisher's first season, despite finding it enjoyable. DD season 2 had a lot of great scenes with Frank, though that might've been because they were so few the ones that were shown were pretty much Frank being Frank. The Pawn Shop comes to mind: youtube.com/watch?v=8VuSLiiQMLc

I mean if you liked the Tom Jane movie you'd probably like this. Basically the same deal but with government corruption instead of the mob.

I enjoyed the movie to a slight extent, does the tv show skirt the issue of mass murder and mowing down people by not showing it or simply not having it at all?

I really dislike that scene. Why the fuck would anyone offer kiddy porn to a complete stranger?

Nah he still franks plenty of folks very violently. Gun control is addressed but the show doesn't take a side and the character who is for gun control is made out to be a cowardly hypocrite.

I guess because he figures if someone already bought one kind of illicit goods, he's probably not going to care about someone offering another kind. Too bad he guessed wrong.

I just like it because it shows what a hair trigger Frank is when dealing with criminals. There's not too much that won't set him off, and every time someone crosses that line, they pretty much instantly get brutalized.

Even hardened criminals hate kiddy diddlers.

They wanted to make his origin less relatable, also... you need a plot if you want your own series with 13 episodes, a series about a guy that kills criminals just for being criminals is boring, IMO.

Just look at the comics, the only times he kills random criminals is during a team-up where the hero tries to save the criminal, all his good stories are about conspirations and him against gangsters or corrupt police, etc

You can pass. The show tries to play Frank as a victim and has him conflicted with what he does. They didn't have the guts to make a show about Frank Castle, instead he's just some guy in a skull shirt.

Don't listen to this guy, he's a fucking liar. The show doesn't portray him as conflicted about what he doe, his purpose is to kill.

If they have frank fucking mourning over the people he is killing im out

They don't dude, he kills without remorse.

Anthology series about Frank stalking and FRANKing a new creep each episode would be pretty nice.

Alright I'll give it a shot thanks

He just gets moody over the messed up shit the covert ops had him do, but he doesnt mourn killing criminals.

He gets a little conflicted over continuing to do what he does when it catches other people in the crossfire, but he seems to pretty quickly go back to not giving a shit most of the time anyway.

I don't think he ever once had a problem with killing any criminal though. He seems more regretful that other things get in the way.

I was speechless at what he did to those stooges in the bunker

>Frank hears about a sex trafficker
>Can't have that, decides he's gonna kill said trafficker
>Goes to snipe him
>Romanian girl gets in the way, starts shooting at sex trafficker and his guards, misses, gets fucked up
>Frank saves the day
And thus Slavers. He doesn't have to be deeply involved in the plot. He can still just hate criminals and decide to deal with them himself.

Hey Sup Forums, I have a question:
Marvel Entertainment has the right to the Netflix Characters, right? So Punisher exists in the same Universe than Captain America.
Now why did they never mention the Avengers directly? Even in Jessica Jones she doesn't talk about Hulk or Captain America, she talks about "The green monster" and the "Flag swinger" and never about the Alien attack and just about "The big attack". So they are clearly in the same universe but why is it a copyright issue to name these characters?

Is not a copyright issue. They could just say "Hulk" and "Thor" if they wanted to.

I guess they just think that mentioning them would crash with the "realistik" grittiness of the Netflix Shows.

Never happens once in the show, he never mourns over people he kills ever.

But they have in DD S2 literal Ninjas and magic stuff happening, not to mention fucking Iron Fist and invincible Luke Cage.

Punisher on Netflix only brought me to finally watch the eighties version, and you know what? It's a damn fun movie. Dolph killing people looking all worn out and desperate is awesome.

Yeah i figured it was we want this to be serious so we just make vague references.

Don't. The Frank characterization is so off. It's not funny. A good 50% of the show is dedicated to Micro and his family too.
From one Punisher fan to another. Don't.

This. It was perfectly fine already.

If they really wanted to make the BIG BAD EBUL MILITAREE the enemy, they could have done it WITHOUT shitting all over the origin story that had already been established in fucking Daredevil

>Castle is killing bad dudes as a means of dealing with his psychological trauma
>Eventually doing so, he stumbles into a bunch of Bad Dudes™ who he notices he has a much harder time killing than usual, he even gets injured pretty bad for the obligatory Night Nurse cameo which wasn't in this season for a change which was actually kinda nice
>Enter: CONSPIRACY TIEM
>Ebil Militaree are using Bad Dudes™ to increase street crime for [vague and unrealistic reason] and profit!
>Castle kills more dudes
>Castle kills more dudes
>Castle kills more dudes
>Castle kills more dudes
>Castle kills more dudes
>Castle kills the leader of the dudes
>end Season 1 of The Punisher

They could have even done Micro's story the exact same way, just scrap the connection to Kandahar for some other government conspiracy.

>Dude, I see you want to shoot someone. I bet you jerk off to kids
Flawless logic.

The way he dispatched Lewis was pretty fucking Frank too

"That's it kid, do it. You can do it."

They fit his origin to the GWOT and its issues about being a profit war and an intel mess. Its a decent veteran tv show but punisher it aint.

Exactly. They could have told THIS EXACT SAME FUCKING STORY without the need to retcon the origin story established in DD2.
Best of all, we would've gotten more SKULL

to be fair they already foreshadowed the whole thing when Schoonover taunted Frank right before he died

the sting operation just seemed to be incidental to the whole thing as everything went south because schoonover decided not to meet with the three gangs regardless (while setting up the meeting where Frank would take his family)

>calls himself a punisher fan
>doesn't know half of punisher stories are dedicated to supporting characters

He noticed Bernthal is jewish.

>and has him conflicted with what he does
No it fucking doesn't. He specifically states SEVERAL TIMES that it's what he does and has no remorse whatsoever.

If anything, he's conflicted that he can't kill people twice.

Ike is a cunt. That's why.

On a scale to Daredevil Hallway Fight Scene in Season 1 to Any Iron Fist Season 1 fight scene, how awesome was Frank vs Russo's fight scene?

Fucking choreography was kickass. I even cringed watching him break his arm and then smashing his face over and over into that mirror.

Criminals are not known for their brilliance.

>Grinding his face along the shattered mirror

All I'll say is Ben Barnes can scream

It was by far the most fun and far more believable movie on the whole.

Punisher is to be on the run from the authorities while doling out vigilante justice.

The 2004 version was ok but they played some of it a bit too safe. It could have been renamed 'Vigilante' and have no iconography of Punisher without anyone change needed.

Punisher Warzone is decent, and is a fun romp of being over the top action flick.

Vigilante is already taken

>Marvel Entertainment has the right to the Netflix Characters, right
Because Marvel Entertainment and Marvel Studios are separate corporations. They are not the same universe. The movies will never respond to the tv or netflix universe.

Or 'Guy who kills Bad Dudes'

In general calling the 2004 movie 'Punisher' wasn't really warranted. Change the title to near anything at all and people wouldn't have noticed anything different.
