The Books of Magic Storytime

Inspired by the storytime of "Mystik U," this is Neil Gaiman's "The Books of Magic."

Young Tim Hunter has a special aptitude for magic, and four powerful magic users give him a tour of the magical side of the DCU. This features the art of John Bolton, Scott Hampton, Charles Vess, and Paul Johnson

Prepare for some excellent artwork

...

...

Oh sweet, the trade's ripped. I'll switch to that later

Been meaning to read this, looks gorgeous thanks OP.

There's some serious stranger danger

Emphasis on the "Stranger"

...

...

Oh hey, I was considering doing this.

...

Tim's a bit of a smartass

...

...

Do you have a pass? That would make this much faster.

The trade download has stalled, but I bet the merge is better in that version

The Beginning

...

Doing God's work, user.
Everybody should read this story.

...

See Gaiman's story "Murder Mysteries." adapted into comic form from Dark Horse for another story about Raguel

I think I should delay until the other download finishes

>Raguel
>to whom has been entrusted the Vengence of the Lord
Wouldn't that make him the Spectre?

I used to think Gaiman should've had a problem with Rowling's Harry Potter. Now that she's become such a megabitch social media avenger, I wish to God he would've.

I'm going to wait a few minutes
Yes, there's a nod to that in the second issue

He's addressed this topic before, commenting "I thought we were both just ripping off T.H. White."

I do.

...

I really thought this was a double page

...

You'd think so looking at them separate, but they're on the same sheet in my trade.

...

>Lizard Kings
Talking about Warlord, if I'm not mistaken?

If you have the trade, feel free to take over after the first issue.
I wouldn't mind

Sure thing.

...

So Atlantis and Camelot are just different aspects of the same thing?

...

Yup. And Gemworld IIRC.

...

pls mods

Speaking of Camelot...

...

...

Jason
Hey user who is taking over, you need to resize two pages

Especially in regard to the fantasy side of DC.

...

...

...

Phantom Stranger seems to have forgotten how to use his words

...

...

...

...

...

Enter Moore's Swamp Thing and CoIE

...

...

What is it with Mr. E and his willingness to kill kids?

Have a go at it other-user

Alrighty

...

...

...

This right here is the Good shit. This is where I first met John Constantine.

...

...

I knew it was you Texas
This features art by Scott Hampton, who later did the "Sandman Presents: The Lucifer Option" miniseries which later became the Lucifer miniseries

Many years ago in high school, my bff and I were talking about comics as we did a lot. Her dad was also a big fan of comics.

>Hey user, I was reading Harry Potter and my dad started ranting at me that HP was stolen from DC. Is that true?
>Hmm, I don't know of any DC characters like Harry Potter... are you sure it was DC?
>No it was like, Hunter something...
>Rip Hunter? That's not anything like Harry Potter
>That wasn't it. I'll ask him and tell you later

And that's how I discovered Books of Magick.

...

...

*Morningstar option, whoops

I love that John leaves for a few seconds, and comes back with a red cheek

...

...

...

Spectre is always great

I thought the Fate story in New Talent Showcase today was actually pretty good.

>he looked like one of them
I wonder if Gaiman was blocked from directly naming the Spectre for whatever reason

...

...

...

I doubt it in this case because every other DC cameo gets name dropped

For a second I thought she wasn't wearing pants

...

>Supercar
That was a british kids TV show that aired from 1961-1962. Reminder that John aged in real time (he would be 64 today), and would have been ~38 when this was published

God I love John so much

>this came out more than 20 years ago
What the fuck
