Everything they show is face value.
Nothing about their cartoons have anything more meaningful that what they blatantly show in front of you.

Yeah remember how deep Dexter's Lab and Johnny Bravo were?

Kids today. They don't know.

They tried to reboot everything. Samurai Jack was fine because it was a continuation, not a reboot.

Not enough Marceline feet

Sugar left.

It's literally drawn the same way as her hands.

Oh Marceline...

>Reboot everything
>TTG isn't a reboot
>All Ben 10s are canon and take place in alternate dimensions

Used to be great for a while. The first problem was when they started showing less of AT, even though the show was getting worse around that time it wasnt an excuse. It got intolerable around 2016 when they flat out stopped showing other shows besides TTG and gumball. Even though TTG is ending all the new shows they announced look like uninspired shit so i dont know what the fuck the execs are thinking and im hoping the rumors of adult swim splitting off are true

I'm not much of a fan of older CN and most of those cartoons from that era have their fair share of problems as well, but they are not exactly the same issues for the most part.
Look at SU and AT, both of those are modern cartoons that try to build a world, but both of them are struggling to do so. Look at Finn's arm and the Gem Cluster, both of those fell flat into being nothing more than a failed footnote in the long run.
And I'm not even talking about wanting cartoons needing to be deep. Cartoons show off a bunch of things that look cool and that it might actually lead to something changing, but it never actually does change a thing and if it does, you get things like Flame Princess or Peridot. People tell me that comics never lead to anything, but cartoons do the exact same thing as they do, and honestly, cartoons are hell of a lot more guilty of abusing status quo than comics or any other medium of entertainment for that matter.

>Nothing about their cartoons have anything more meaningful that what they blatantly show in front of you.
Are you serious?

Not saying they do a good job, but SU and AT clearly have stuff going on under the surface. It's true that they've put those elements more into focus as the show has gone on, but there's still lots of stuff that's implied rather than explicitly stated or shown, even in individual episodes.
These shows don't lack in depth, they lack in doing that depth well.

Went down the same road as Nickelodeon when it came to banking everything on one show but with a massively flawed show that was never remotely near as popular as Spongebob.

Cartoon Network put massive amounts of time and advertising into pushing a show that only gets about 10% better ratings than the shows they don't devote those resources to and wind up turning off a bigger portion of their fanbase while also denying other shows the marketing they need to become successful.

Of course this is just the crowning achievement of pretty much a decade and a half of just awful network decisions.

It comes in circles.
You people bitch now, I remember circa 2009 people here were flippin their collective shit over CN Real, Out of Jimmy's Head and that awards show...think it was called Hall of Games?

AT, RS came and a few other shows and it got better. That was 7 fuckin years ago, encase you forgot. Times change.

>he says with a Relationship Show avatar
irony

It's shit but I remember it being much worse. The days after canceling toonami and their push for live action shows was worse than this.

The same as what happened with Nick before. Execs focusing on one show and forgetting everything else. The difference is that Nick produced mostly shit during its bad period, while CN is still making good stuff AND ignoring it

CalArts

You are BAITMAN.

The desperate struggle to promote the App by forcing anything that isn't TTG or Gumball to basically not exist when it's not airing a new episode.

This isnt facenook

It's children's cartoons, that's normal.

Children's cartoons aren't for children.

Trying to make AT the next Spongebob and failing, then trying to do the same with Teen Titans Go

Upper management changed a lot in the mid 2000s. They started trying to chase trends instead of letting their creatives dictate the direction of the channel.

These days, since cable in general is dying off with younger generations, cartoon stations and similar channels are having to try to adjust faster than others. That's why the stupid bomb release shit has been happening across all cartoons.

dumb millionals

>> dumb millionals

CN lived on the renaissance of the early to mid 2010s, which was fantastic.

But as those shows come to an end, CN mainly abandons what made that ere special. But instead focus more on making money and being more corporal (the problem with the late 2000s)

Capitalism may be the best system we have today, but this is very predictable outcome that was destined to happen as they become bigger and more corporal; profits above all else.
