Hell boy?

Is Del Toro making this?

Yes he is

I'm intrigued... WTF is this?

del toro kino

Del Taco movie about a mute woman falling in love with Not!Abe Sapien in a government lab

>It's fine to have Sup Forums on the board they said
>It's just comic adaptations they said
Kill yourself

It's really a spin off of Hellboy?

youtube.com/watch?v=caj2OoFUXsQ

>It's really a spin off of Hellboy?
No, Del Toro is just throwing in some easter eggs.

from what I can tell its either abe or blatently offbrand abe, considering its the same actor and same directer

I prefer twinky Abe more

can't wait to see this on Saturday

Dollar general Abe

i'm actually interested in this movie but how the fuck is this Sup Forums related in any way besides the main character looking vaguely like a comic character

I'm really bummed about how bad the Mignolaverse titles have gotten since Allie and Roberson took over. Arcudi is still spitting out aces on Lobster Johnson and Mignola always writes gems but they write so few books collectively.

people looking to shitpost over how the fishman character looks similar to Abe

abe a cute

when will it be Johann's turn

...

Man.... now I want a fem-Abe

Johann had a hard life

I hope it’s better than Crimson Peaks. That and Don’t be afraid of the Dark we’re kind of meh

is there a Mignola-verse rec list? I love those damn movies and the Sup Forumsmrades who read the books are all huge fanboys, but the sheer depth the backlog is massive and honestly overwhelming

just pick up Hellboy library edition volume 1 and go in order, you can read Hellboy by itself. if you like that, pick up BPRD Plague of Frogs vol 1 and continue in order. they're written so that they can be read as solo series.

Del Toro's Hellboy fanfic

Abe's design is better than this ripoff's in general, which is a shame, I'm sure the movie is wonderful.

The Amazing Screw-On Head youtube.com/watch?v=XbsDvGtTRWU

>ripoff's
>Hellboy did fishmen first

containment board when

Please do not make me think of cute fishgirls, I'm already spent

> Don’t be afraid of the Dark

He didn't direct that one despite his name being all over the trailers.

>Crimson Peaks

I enjoyed it once I realised it was meant for bookish 15 year old girls who read too much Charlotte Bronte and Daphne du Maurier instead of nerd guys who wanted more Hellboy and Crimson Peak.

Not a value judgement, it just literally wasn't made for me. Which was fine once I figured that out.

I took one of those types on a date to that movie and she loved it, so Del Toro is a bro as far as I'm concerned

Don't be afraid of the Dark is why I sleep with a Hammer under my pillow.

also it's brutal as fuck

>I took one of those types on a date to that movie and she loved it

Of course she did, the main character is basically a blatant self-insert who gets to swan in, share charmingly barbed back-and-forths with all the men in the story, save the male damsel from his evil cunt sister, lay everything out right and still get with the handsome, adventurous doctor who's waiting in the wings the entire story.

It's Gothic romance fanfiction, it just happens to be GOOD Gothic romance fanfiction in a time where the only other writer trying to appeal to that market is Stephanie Meyer. It's kind of charming how much Del Toro made that movie for such a specific sliver of the mainstream audience market.

Del Toro's still gonna Del Toro.

I'm convinced Del Toro is the greatest pitch man in the Hollywood to get a $55 million budget for that

I've always felt that despite his expressionless face Johann has been the one single most emotional person in the whole party.

I'm actively sad about this. Like, I'd felt something just sit like a fist into my stomach with the last issues of Hell on Earth, where Johann and Iosif died, even then admittedly the quality wasn't as good as the first BPRD run with Guy Davis, I felt as if Arcudi was somewhat rushing things along to finish his run. Yet still it was miles better than Allie and Roberson. Allie's plain emotionless I feel and is trying to actively not focus on Arcudi's legacy, whereas Roberson's just inexcusably bad as a writer in my opinion. He even fucked up Witchfinder, dear god.

>tfw the golden age of the mignolaverse is over

I suppose I can live with Hell on Earth as the end of "my" BPRD, but it is a bummer that Allie's just gonna plod along until the end.

at least Arcudi is still killing it on LoJo, I hope that gets a solid ending - and of course anything Mignola writes is still good. Roberson seems destined to waste good ideas - the Occult Spies War, Bruttenholm's early years, Hellboy's early adventures - all gold as concepts.

Universal on suicide watch for not letting Del Toro make a Creature from the Black Lagoon reboot and save the Dark Universe.

they offered him the reins in 2007 but he said no

Well technically speaking we know how Lobster Johnson ends, I'd just want a clarification to *what* he actually is Conqueror Worm and the stuff in his series makes me think he gets killed and resurrects from dead bodies at the end of his story. And yeah, Mignola's killing it as usual when he writes, and he's actually writing a miniseries of Koschei the Deathless, about which I'm excited as all hell.

BPRD kind of is done, admittedly, this arc's more like 'yeah this is how the world ends and the rest of the cast dies', as Allie himself admitted in an interview, nobody's gonna make it (maybe except Abe in a way), although I still don't like how they just reintroduced an OC character they kept alive for Cameron Stewart as the most badass element in the story now because everyone else's dead and added in a silly romance plot between Howards and Liz of all people.

Meanwhile Roberson's fucking up all the potential that future writers could explore by taking it all for himself and turning all he touches into shit. Seriously, I'd always wanted to see some Cold War Occult shenanigans with BPRD and SSS agents fighting, and now he's turned it into his enkeladite-verse where everyone's acting like they're in a badly written theater play.

>wanting Del Taco anywhere near that trash fire after The Mummy came out

That thing was barely a movie.

Everything we know about this character borders on plagiarism, it's not because he's a fishman, it's because he's a fishman contained by government agent who likes classical music and eggs, specifically.

an Occult Cold War is genuinely one of the coolest ideas they've had, fire Roberson and get a real writer on that shit

also I don't like Ashley Strode anymore, she went to shit so fast in Exorcist and now she just feels too out of left field to join the team.

sigh, never gonna get moments like this again.

SHIT I want to see this too.

Anyone with pro photoshop skills think they can edit Abe into a fishgirl?

Does Hellboy get better after Vol. 1? Many characters felt very underdeveloped and the pacing was bad.

Good to know that Abes the only guy around allowed to like eggs and classical music

Vol.1 was written by John Byrne. Vol. 2 is somewhat transitory, where Mignola tries to get his own thing and it shows some awkwardness at times, but it's Volume 3 where he begins to shine imo, and from there on it's consistently 10/10.

The colorist also changes to Dave Stewart and that man might have almost an equal part to play in creating the Hellboy Universe visually with Mignola himself.

In an interview one of them plain admitted she was kept alive just for Cameron Stewart's sake, and reintroduced to the story solely because they realized they had nobody in the team to kill Varvara.

I hate how she went from 'rookie but promising exorcist' to 'quipping marvel-universe tier woman who can kill the Satan candidate' too. They turned her into one of the worst characters in the story quick.

we'll always have Pandemonium user

mfw

>don't be sad that it's over be happy that it happened

>each one of these things aren't Abe specific qualities
>I'm going to ignore the fact that the sum total of all of these characteristics describes Abe and no other fictional character for no other reason that to look ignorant

What is your end game here? To describe Abe in a way that would describe a handful of characters while purposefully leaving out what makes Abe unique?

Eggs and classical music make Abe unique?

eh the classical music thing is just something Del Toro likes for monsters. he did the exact same thing for Eichorst in the Strain

>A fish man hybrid being kept at a government location who likes eggs and listening to classic music
>DURRRR MUSIC AND EGG!

I don't even know what you're trying to prove. Are you actually arguing that the character in this movie doesn't resemble Abe?

For an universe based on pulpy horror the Mignolaverse sure manages to throw in a lot of feels

like no other

Op did you make this thread here to actually talk about the movie or as an excuse for a hellboy thread
Why does NY get it 21 days early

arthouse films open in LA and NY to build buzz before releasing wide

>kino

fuck off back to Sup Forums and take the rest of the slavniggers with you

user...you DO realize that Del Toro directed this AND Hellboy right?

And Hellboy didn't come up with the idea of fishmen.

>Thought it was out nation wide tomorrow
>It isn't

Fuck, I gotta find a different movie to watch then for my class

> 21 days

Pretty sure it comes out in a lot of other places in america on the 8th and 15th of December.

It's only other countries like UK and Australia that get fucked over by it releasing here in like, February, I'll probably just end up watching a camrip, if there is one.

Del Toro's insistence on making the new fish more fuckable than abe is pretty funny
I feel like he's finally gotten his chance to make his hellboy porn fanfiction, not that there's anything wrong with that

>Michael Shannon plays a cruel, religious nut
>shows whole movie in trailer

Not much of a fan of the face. Looks a little too human with that nose shape and lips.

He's apparently just got a thing for that fishman imagery. I think in one of the interviews about TSOW he said that when he watched the creature from the black lagoon or some other old timey fishman monster crap he felt bad for the monster and after getting older he wanted to do a story where that kind of movie had a happy ending for it.

it's kind of a sweet concept, in an odd way
I hope we get more actually good monster romance movies after this, with monsters that aren't tame as fuck

The religous thing isn't so much a huge focal point as it is that shannon's character is obsessed with that whole 'perfect american dream 50's style future' shit while trying to deny that he himself is kind of a weirdo freak.

>give him a sexy butt
Good ol' Del Totoro

Kind of sad that Doug Jones looks more attractive as a fish man than a normal person.

that's funny because Doug Jones mentioned in the BTS on Star Trek Discovery that he has such a weirdly flat ass that it enhances his alien look.

Pretty much everything about him is alien looking

Man, that guy can't catch a break?

He survived Breaking Bad at least.

>I mean, he shoots Theo Tonin, fakes his own death in a spectacular fashion, pushes a guy out of an airplane while he's flying it, parachutes into Harlan County with enough coke and cash to jump-start the economy of a small country, and then he has the balls to get a job in law enforcement, not once but two times! He spends a couple of days riding around with you while you're looking for him, and now he's run off with a hooker that's half his age. That's some bad-ass shit.

Someone else here is dangerously close to having good taste.

if you wanna survive in this business you best remember your ABCs - always be cool

>kino
>pol
w e w lad you retarded nigger

It was so much fun to see him basically play Boyd as a gigantic pussy on Vice Principals.

Really love the set design and general atmosphere of this movie, 120% comfy.

if there's one thing Del Toro can do it's set design

> mfw the movie has a happy ending for the main couple and neither the gay friend or the black friend die

Do they actually fuck?

yes, multiple times, they also go out of their way to explain that the fish guy does indeed a dick

*have a

del taco you absolute madman

I thought people were just memeing.

...

no memeing here

>ywn have a hot fish bf
>ywn get dicked down by that hot fish bf

I feel you, user.

>this summer

>the fish gets it wet

>got rid of the reptilian plates
>less fishlike mouth
>small waist
>heroic cleft chin
>sexy
I don't understand, it sounds like they fucked up something sexy.

They decided to aim more at people who want to fuck Sidon

>We will never get a Mignolaverse animated series

Why are we still here? Just to suffer?

Man, I've really gotta get around to watching the TV series. I really enjoyed the first two books and need to read the third.

so...is his dick bioluminescent too?

If handsome fishman movie is a Hellboy fanfic, is Crimsons peak a Reverse Pines fanfic?

I don't think so.
