Technically all capeshit movies gross less than the original 70s Superman when inflation is taken into account.
Also how is profits about a movie rather than the movie itself Sup Forums related?
Fuck DC
They're cancelling the DCEU.
Not in name, but in spirit.
They're going to make stand alone movies from here on out. Batman and Wonderwoman ONLY
What does 70s Superman have to do with Justice League being a colossal failure
Hiring two hack directors will do that for you.
completely absurd.
Dont get me wrong, the movie has some glaring flaws but it was far more enjoyable than either BvS or MoS. Plenty of fun moments and good characters. This is House of Mouse shilling at its finest. I firmly believe if this had come out before the Avengers had, people wouldve reacted to JL like they did Avengers and we'd be looking at a different world.
I get a degree of hate for it, The cg was wonky as fuck, the villian was weaker than gas station coffee, some of the dialouge was fucking cringe material. But even my normie blue-pilled mother enjoyed JL more than Thor, and shes been seeing nearly every marvel movie in the theaters as they come out.
Something smells fucky. I get it might not do well, but doing this bad? makes me wonder.
>Also how is profits about a movie rather than the movie itself Sup Forums related?
Because the success of the movie determines the future of the franchise, and that is Sup Forums related
Good, Hack Snyder must go, if the movie grossed like BvS there is no doubt that his wife would find a way to give Justice League and Superman trilogies to him plus he would be the producer of other movies like Wonder Woman and Batman,
>Something smells fucky. I get it might not do well, but doing this bad? makes me wonder.
Clearly it's an international Disney conspiracy where they're physically preventing people from watching the movie. Jesus Christ you people are delusional.
Is Injustice League and Marvel vs Capcom Sup Forums related? Is Batman Arkham games Sup Forums related? The next Marvel toys line is /co; related as well?
LOL
Yes, to all of these.
Injustice used to have threads all the time and still does when new things come out.
Based on Sup Forums related things, so yes.
Disney clearly pays off reviewers. Not all of them obviously, but enough.
>Fatman
Seriously stop this cheap bait faggot
>I will now continue to say this with 0 evidence
You guys should go back to saying that the WB-owned Rotten Tomatoes is run by Disney shills
>Injustice League
of course they are
It's not that difficult to understand. WB exhausted all audience patience and goodwill with MoS and BvS. When JL came around, people who'd already been disappointed once or twice by the movies that had come before it were a lot less willing to open their wallets, especially given the poor coverage it got. Better than the other two? Sure, maybe, but the other two movies' poor quality killed it just the same.
Go use the thread about this on
Lmao. You're embarrassing
Opening weekend was awful, and you can't blame reviewers for that one.
What happened was bad marketing (No Superman in promotional art for a fucking Justice League movie ffs), and awful taste left on viewers after BvS, that not even the decent if overrated WW could overcome.
Why does the Flash costume look like it's criss crossed with twine? I haven't seen the movie, do they explain?
And you're stupid enough to bite the bait.
How is that ironic?
Do you know how Rotten Tomatoes works? It's a Review Aggregate website, they take the opinions of hundreds of different nobodies and pool them together as positive and negative reviews. WB has no power over it.
>Nolan movies get good reviews
>Wonder Woman gets good reviews
>Lego Batman gets good reviews
Hmmmm it must be a Disney conspiracy! It cannot be that Zack Snyder's a total hack!
If you read the article, they talk about the fact that the whole reason they turned MoS's sequel into a primer for Justice League was because the sales weren't that great and wanted to boost them asap with a shared universe.
I'm aware of that. It didn't stop Snyderfags from constantly going on about how "RT is biased against DC"
The first movie in the DCEU will have made more than their big team up
It sure ain't looking good
I don’t understand why WB thought rushing into a cinematic universe just to compete with marvel.
Marvel spent years and several years building up to their big team up movie so it was a huge success, meanwhile DC thinks they can get a piece of it by rushing into it without planning.
Why is that surprising? MOS didn't have the weight of a bad movie streak behind it.
The problem with BvS/JL isn't that they rushed into it, it's that they were bad on their own.
There are lots of team up movies without a dedicated backstory movie.
Did Ocean's 11 need a movie for each character?
No, of course not.
>that consistent drop off that WW just blows straight through
>superman does better alone than the whole team of other people
Holy shit, that is irony.
I hope they'll learn.
they needed their exec bonuses. no time to wait and build a business like feige. that simple.
The big irony being that if they kept slow and steady after MoS, they could have been close to achieving the same success.
>it's that they were bad on their own.
Well that's the thing. Not only was the cinematic universe rushed, the individual films themselves were.
Daily reminder MOS was greenlit with a script the execs knew they needed to redo, but out of fear of a lawsuit, rushed it into production and only put Snyder in the director's chair because he didn't need to do a ton of preproduction, aka thinking things through before filming.
Then they took what was originally MoS2, which we have confirmation was in preproduction, and smashed it into Snyder's wet dream of making DKR despite the fact that he didn't understand that story at all. Not to mention Ayer was only given 6 weeks to write Suicide Squad.
The DCEU has been just one endless dumpster fire.
>Did Ocean's 11 need a movie for each character?
Because Ocean's focused on Clooney, Damon and Pitt, with a side-dose of Roberts. The others were comic relief. Hell, Pitt barely has an arc, he's mostly just there to look cool.
Justice League needed to give each character a full arc in 2 hours, and introduce three of them as people. It's too much.
>Justice League needed to give each character a full arc in 2 hours
Why?
Not really irony. MoS was the first Snyderverse movie so we had to see it first to realize that the whole DCEU was gonna be shit.
I don't know, man. But that was clearly the intent of the movie.
I'm not saying it's a good idea.
>This is House of Mouse shilling at its finest.
>people not wanting to watch a boring ass movie is the mouse shilling
This is Snyderpajeets logic.
...
Because shit like Aquaman randomly being mad about Atlantis and talking to Amber Heard for one minute sticks out like a goddamn sore thumb.
Source: I went with three other people and they were constantly asking me why stuff like that was going on.
Then why do movies like Oceans 11 not have the same problem?
Or the Magnificent 7?
Lots of movies have many characters and just introduce them in a way that makes sense
SIX FOR SIX
What happened to Unite the Seven?
The viewer was supposed to be the seventh member but he never showed up.
I'm at a wedding holding a baby sweating my tits off. Fucking Justice League
Because justice league is crossover, all characters are protagonists, that's NOT like star wars, lord of the rings or harry potter where one character backstory is the only relevant thing about it.
How can you have a crossover if you have nothing to cross over?
Ryan Reynolds refused to sell WB his face rights during his time as Green Lantern.
Source: ssssssssssssssssssss
Here's the thing: don't think of it as performing relative to how a Justice League movie should, think of it as performing relative to how a "Batman v. Superman 2" should. Because that's what it is to general audiences; we've already HAD the "unite the trinity" movie that sets the tone for the DCEU and this is just the followup to it.
This doesn't look like DC's "Avengers" to the public; if anything, it's its "Age of Ultron."
Its not a conspiracy but the critics who gave it incredibly low scores, like one star, are absolute cunts
>crossover
>it's the first appearance of half the characters on it
Also in Avengers movie it's clear the story focuses in Tony and Cap with the shitty Thor sub-plot nobody cares about. Hawkeye, Hulk and Widow were only there to fill space.
Did Avengers 1 even have a Thor subplot?
Loki was the main antagonist, yeah, but it's not like Thor fucked off for a bit to shoot the shit in Asgard.
Unless you're talking about AoU, which is shit for reasons that include that one
Because
1. You're dealing with a story where literally everyone is a thief specializing in something, so its hardly as jarring as a fat guy in a rubber suit, a superhuman skeleton demigod, a hobo fishman, a human computer and autistic twink runner joining together to revive an alien to fight another grey alien. Not to mention webm related REALLY takes you out of a movie.
2. Danny Ocean is objectively the main character
3. There is actual focus in Ocean's Eleven.
If Disney were going to pay off critics it would be for their own films. Namely pirates which was Disney's most expensive film this year and was savaged harder than Justice league
JESUS FUCKING CHRIST
>it's clear the story focuses in Tony and Cap
I know I'll be shit on for this, but Whedon knows how to write an ensemble. Everyone got nice little focus points in Avengers while having clear leads with defined arcs.
Zack can barely write for one character, much less a whole team.
>reshoot nearly all of superman's scenes
>clumsily cgi out the goatee instead of putting it on on the one scene they left untouched
Literally why?
Thor is literally dropped into the story. He has no arc in the film itself
No, Thor didn't have individual scenes where he was the main focus in Avengers, mainly because he didn't need them.
His whole motivation was arresting Loki so he could take him back to Asgard.
>This level of drop off already
>Fucking Star Wars coming in two weeks
The League is dead.
Bury it.
This is what they get for just jumping right into the Avengers-esque team up movie without the Avengers-esque build up
The guys who did the CGI job on Superman knew it was shit and needed more time. I hope that slanty eyed cunt enjoys his bonus. Supes was right the first time, its OK to slap a jap
Once you think about it no one really had an arc besides the "learned to work as a team" stuff.
It's strange that Avengers made so much because when you look at the Box office the fist phase films made fuck all apart from Iron Man meaning barely anyone saw them, but the team up did huge numbers. WB really fucked DC over
Still, why would you attempt to CGI multiple scenes instead of the sole one that wasn't reshoot? It makes sense for the post-credit scene to have a clean shaved Supes, but him growing a beard while in a comma would make sense.
Did bearded Superman trigger Whedon that much?
Not to mention the movie itself was pretty bland.
Avengers rode entirely on crossover hype and got away with it.
I honestly don't know why they just didn't keep the beard. Just don't even address it. Sure some people would question why he has one but it wouldn't be a deal breaker
Plus Superman looks great with a beard
Every year I understand less why WB hired Zack Snyder for this shit. His movies were never seen as good, why the fuck they hired this famous hack? They hired him after a epic faliure called sucker punch and his 2 DCEU movies were awful, yet they gave Justice League to him.
None of it makes any sense, WB is a very competent studio with a best live action record than anyone, how the hell they fucked up so badly?
It's a sequel to all those movies at the same time, so it drew in Iron Man fans, Hulk fans, Cap fans and Loki fans.
I think his wife is a major WB exec
I can't watch Avengers anymore. Thanks minion is pure cheese and it feels like I'm watching a Masters of the universe film with how cheap it looks
And then Marvel does this the following week and it explodes on popularity.
>We will never see Tower of Babel adapted
>We will never see live action Darkseid
>We will never see Green Lantern in the big screen again
With luck we'll get Shazam in between a stream of mediocre Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman solo movies until the wheel dries out.
I like the analogy, but i would go with thor 2 over AoU.
Casual audiences dont really know cyborg going into this outside of teen titans. This flash is different from the tv show. We didnt have a batman solo movie either.
All we really got before this was a WW movie, 1.5 superman movies, and half a batman movie. We had 2 ironman, 1 thor, and 1 captain america before the first avengers. We had 3 ironman 2 thor 2 captain and a bunch of other shit before AoU.
Yeah, and crossover hype was what helped out BvS. Fair's fair.
The problem is that Justice League spent that hype and didn't replace it with versions of the characters people would want to see again.
I didn't even bother watching when it came out.
Watched it on DVD some time later and thought it was nothing special. I got into the MCU because Guardians and WS were pretty damn good.
WB hired Zack Snyder to make Man of Steel (and thus head up the DCEU) for the same reasons that Fox hired Josh Trank to make Fantastic Four.
With similar results.
>Thanks minion
You don't get to put the image in my head without getting it back.
But I imagine that the vast majority of those who saw Iron Man were the audience for the other Marvel films. Avengers did well because of hype and novelty. There's no shame in that.
His wife was a producer and both MoS and BvS made more money despite terrible reviews.
No one really expected JL to flop this hard.
Damn I meant Thanos minion. This is what I get for being a phone poster
>Hey guys remember the last movie where all your favorites teamed up? We're gonna do that again! This time there's a fast guy! And a CGI robot! Those are cool too, right?
Justice League is AoU.
I think one of the biggest problems is the fact that Batman still doesn't have a solo movie.
>Yeah, and crossover hype was what helped out BvS.
The first week, then the profits dropped 80% the next weekend.
Yes, unlike AoU it definitely hasn't aged well.
>Avengers rode entirely on crossover hype
And you bet they'll do it again for Infinity War, with Avengers+Guardians crossover.
Surprisingly casuals didn't even know they're in the same universe.
>We had 2 ironman, 1 thor, and 1 captain america before the first avengers
Also a Hulk movie
True, but I think pointing at Loki as one of the reasons people watched the movie is fair since he became extremely popular, a certified draw you could say, and because one of the complaints about JL is that the Villain was terrible.
>Surprisingly casuals didn't even know they're in the same universe.
They mention the Infinity stones in both GoTG movies after Avengers 2 properly introduced the concept. How the hell did anyone think they were not the same universe?
Hence the second sentence I wrote.
That's the elephant in the room that we're not addressing. Snyder made people indifferent to Superman and Batman, the two biggest names in the genre. He probably made some audience members outright hate them.
It's pretty telling how many reviewers, professional and casual, were more hyped about 3 minutes of Wonder Woman than the 3+ hours of Superman and Batman.
That's not a good look and there's no coming back from wasting that huge a lead. Especially not when the only defense of it is to insult your audience. They're not gonna take that. And outside of communities like this, they're not even gonna arguewith you about it. They're just not gonna bother with the sequel.
That Hulk film flopped. Its why they didn't mention anything that happened in it until Civil War when they could afford to
Definitely, I'll be watching purely because of the crossover too.
Don't forget they are also marketing those movies as the "final chapter" of the MCU, so they also have the novelty of that.
