I don't hate the guy, honestly he's done some good stuff here and there, but he is not the right voice for happy. I always imagined it sounding like an upbeat goofy or a parody of mlp. Something more whimsical. I can't imagine a little girl giving her imaginary friend Patrick Oswalt's voice.
