Runaways

>show is called runaways
>4 episodes in
>they still haven't run away
When do they run away?

Like with every Marvel TV show, you have to wait till the last episode and its final ten minutes,

They're still gathering information and weapons, learning their powers

They didn't really runaway from their parents until issue 6. Before that they were just going one by one to everyone's houses to get evidence and learn their individual powers.

Karolina hasn't figured out that she can focus her energy into lasers yet. Gert has only just figured out that she can control Old Lace. Nobody believes Molly has super strength. Nico has only used the staff once and by accident. And Chase is building the Fistigons himself.

>Chase is building the fistigons himself

I actually like this. It was pretty depressing that Chase's only value to the team as a superhero was shit he stole from his abusive dad (fistigons and leapfrog) and then adopting Old Lace after Gert died.

Is this part of the MCU or not?

Also, the one thing I don't get: if the girls had to come to feed the pet regularly, how come they never noticed the dinosaur before?

Like there is a fucking window to peak at it? It's like their parents wan

Does Molly straighten her hair at some point to conceal her identity?

Why was the thinking behind making live-action Gert objectively the prettiest girl on the team?

Was that some fucking Practical effect when she was petting her nose?

Haven't read the comics but am now interested. The show kinda make me think of what a "Stranger things" show would look like if set in present time.

I think it made him more relatable. There's too many smart characters in Marvel and they keep making that are even smarter. An average or below fiercely loyal guy is a good asset as a character over Yet-another-tech-character tm.

He was the Anti-Alex.

Yes. They have a full sized Old Lace.. thing? I'm not sure if it's animatronic or not. There's a pic of it somewhere but I can't find it in a timely fashion.

Do we know how old Old Lace is? They might have not noticed her because she was created pretty recently. I think Gert's parents said they were planning to move to the Yucatan because it's a better place to raise a dinosaur, so that would lead me to believe she's a pretty new addition to the house.

this is surprisingly refreshing. I guess, in the end, the story necessitating for the character to interact and regularly touch it means getting practical was still cheaper than half-convincing CGI.

I am positively surprised that work of this quality wasn't lost art already. I bet it was a wetting dream for the SFX team who had to work on it, to work on a project like that...

So, is it set in the MCU?

Still, that seems way too much negligent. They know there is a growing dinosaur, why even take the risk of the girls finding out. Put some lock on the door and remove them from feeing duty.

Part of the original appeal of Runaways was that it took place in LA which allowed the characters to exist almost entirely separately from continuity bullshit, allowing these new characters some breathing room.

This was like, one of the only times in the last 17 years I can think of where superheroes that weren't just black/women versions of white male characters.

>>Bitch with colored hair and problem glasses.

No thanks...

Best boi, best girl, just like the comics.
All is right in the world.

The color is warning you that they're poisonous.
You did the right thing user

she's not really played straight, the show is aware how silly those sjw views are.

read somewhere that they might have multiple puppets, but the main one is fullsize and has pneumatic pumps for movement

Yeah iirc I think BKV was insistent on the fact that these characters never got involved in the big events. They could refrernce them sure, but not actually get involved.

Plus like you said that was a godsend because it didn't fuck up the flow of the story.

My favorite part of the show so far was when she blows off the ugly SJWs to les out with the pretty church slut.

>Stranger Things in present time
That's actually pretty interesting to think about, and makes me want to check this show out more. Just need some Hulu.

I've been thinking about if we'll get some kind of Stranger Things for the 2000s era down the line. I know a lot of 80s kids who are adults now are floored at how authentic ST feels to the 80s, it'd be wild to feel that same feeling when I'm middle aged

>Is this part of the MCU or not?

officially it is, but the weird thing is that the only "connection" so far is that the Asian tiger mom is the same character as the guardian of the Hong Kong sanctum from Dr. Strange, except the showrunner said she was only named in the credits of that movie so it doesn't effect their show, so it's got a tie-in by accident
