Catching up on Gotham

>catching up on Gotham
>Azrael getting his weapon and armor
>badass Midevil-style character based on a crusader knight wields this pussy-ass shortsword
I get it, TV budget and shit, but couldnt they have given hime something resembling a proper longsword?

I best you think the Buster Sword is cool too you fag.

I don't know OP, seeing him in full costume with the sword blew me away.

>logical extremes

Post the badass design I wanna have a laugh

practicality over style (harder to sneak around with a long sword)?

Seems like they really wasted the character either way.

here you go, honey. laugh away.

If you're gonna have a fight in a hallway, a short sword or gladius is the way to go. Otherwise you'll be pulling your sword out of the walls, ceiling and doorways for most of your fight.

>introduce Azrael
>he gets blown up by a rocket launcher by the man who would be Soloman Grundy
Gotham is a batman show on acid.

That's always been a poor excuse.

we will never see grundy beat azrael to death with his own arm

It's probably an heirloom passed down by the very first knights and Christians of Rome.

Nah, they say in the episode, that the sword was made literally days ago. They still call it "a replica", so you might be partially right.

That's lewd.

This happened a few seasons ago. It was a cheep replica made by Hugo Strange.

That's literally your typical legionary sword.

>He thinks sword fighting is just swinging randomly.

Spears are better in close quarters then swords

Nooo the guy from tv

>knights
>rome

Also, the first Christians wouldn't have passed down swords, rather fish markings on the wall.

Ah... i used to be like you until i Discovered the unlimited badassery of the Gladius. Shortsword is cool too tho.

Pole arms > swords

but that doesnt fit the Catholic Christian Crusader Knight theme

Looks like that's the problem of all Azraels.

Crusaders used lances man. Knights where cavallery that used to Flank the enemies. Their most common weapon for the case of losing their mount was a shortsword.
For fighting in close range they used sword and board.
The longsword was more a mix between these two situations mainly used in duels, also hammers and maces were also heavily used.

A gladius is no good without a shield

...

Didn't stop him from slapping Kharn's khornehole.

Yes it does? There were very few knights who were so willing to die that they would abandon a standard sword and shield and move on to two-handed long swords or, Heaven forbid you were a warrior willing to die for God that came from the North, a zweihander.

...

Why the fuck would you bring actual historical facts into a comic-book based TV show? It's what is in the commonly accepted cultural stereotype that counts for that kind of things.

>hammers and maces were also heavily used.

hammer-mace

Leave live-action Batman kino to me.

>Spears are better in close quarters then swords

Yes. Spears. Plural. Multiple. In a formation.

Shit's great

I want Oswald and Jim to go back to being friends.

Why was he just standing there?

got hit by a car (bruce) and shot multiple times (gordon).

ok im impressed
