Why does adult swim have to censor swearing and nudity even if the show is TV MA?

semi-funnier that way

Advertisers that don't like that kind of stuff.

Sometimes for comedic effect.

Additionally to make you buy home releases/stream.

>Advertisers that don't like that kind of stuff.
Its already TV MA
>Sometimes for comedic effect.
Its not funny
>Additionally to make you buy home releases/stream.
Ah, now that makes more sense

Alot of them are still edited on the DVD releases too though.

FCC

Doesnt stop other channels from saying fuck in TV MA shows

It might have to do with some rules from Cartoon Network just not allowing that sort of thing regardless of the rating. There's also the fact that CN has East and West coast broadcasting blocks and some TV stations show both, meaning kids on one coast can see shows outside of their usual TV-MA time block. I know I used to catch up on ATHF watching CN West every morning when I went to college.

>Its already TV MA
And movies get an R rating if they say the word Fuck 2 times

Thats exactly my point. It has the necessary rating to use such words, yet they still refuse to. doubt it, since they still play adukt swim shows while the the other coast have CN on.

MA

FCC doesn't regulate cable networks.

youtube.com/watch?v=wqnNURx3Y6Q

Yes they do, and they censor it.. This isn't the only way they regulate cable either.
fcc.gov/reports-research/guides/obscenity-indecency-profanity-faq

Please refrain from spreading false information.

that must be why HBO is censored. oh wait

>Denying objective truths cited directly to the organization in question because you saw a boobie on hbo
God this board is fucking retarded

Obscenity laws apply to HBO, too, dipshit.

Wasn't the fact that it was uncensored the whole point of cable tv though when it first came out?

would hbo being uncensored not be also count as an objective truth? quick, name 5 times the FCC has censored a cable broadcast. I'll wait (but I'll bet any amount of money the thread will die before you can do it, mainly because it hasn't happened once, much less 5 times).

other posters are right, the only reasons cable shows censor curses and tits and whatnot are for their advertisers and for stylistic purposes.

arguably funnier and it's a tradition carried over from south park.

bump

>name 5 meme
>acting as though this is a legitimate argument
>doesn't really these cases are largely private matters between companies and their legal team to avoid fines and other legal troubles
The absolute state of Sup Forums

americans are prudes

>bleeps and blurs are inherently funny
I really don't understand this mentality.

Whenever something does a "I'm gonna beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep and then beepbeepbeepbeepbeepbeep..." joke, I just sit there bored. Its not even a joke, its basically just "lol they said bad words", which is literally only something a child would find funny.

They apply to anything broadcast over public airwaves. Not private cable companies. Technically, on cable networks they can put hardcore nudity and porn on a show, but, for reasons that should be obvious, they don't.

Which is interesting, considering South Park rarely censors words outside of Fuck these days, and hasn't really done a joke that relies on censorship since like season 5 or so.

"Let's go explode some ducks."

Because of FCC regulations against swearing and nudity???

In the words of Marshal Mathers, "Because the FCC wont let me be and let me be me".

"YES. that's what we're DOING Doris..."
