What was early rule 34 like...

What was early rule 34 like? I heard that in the 90s the most you could find was poorly drawn stuff from julius zimmerman. When didnit get more prevalent?

Mostly anime stuff - I recall Sailor Moon and Final Fantasy 7 shit being the most prevalent, and a lot of that was simple, less-than-256-colors pixelized stuff which could be saved in .gif form.

DragonMoon X

My first exposure was rouge the bat.
It was right there in the GIS, I never stood a chance.

>I heard that in the 90s the most you could find was poorly drawn stuff from julius zimmerman
You heard correct and it was at some point around that time I turned to poorly scanlated doujins which later led to finding decent stuff around the early 2000's and discovering gold by finding Karate Akabon RIP.

It was pretty shit. Lot of crappy Disney drawings. Mostly just traced screencaps with horrible anatomy.

without internet access, it was that one friend that could draw decently well and would draw porn for friend's approval or a quick buck.
You could tell him what characters you wanted to see but he never kept it on the down low. Once he knew, everyone knew.

the earliest I can think of are the early 1900's tijuana bibles

>blatent pornography
>doesnt use gods name in vain
Atleast they have their priorities straight

Hey Sup Forums what was the name of the drawn cartoon/anime porn community you were in before Sup Forums? Hentaigeeks was mine.

Simpsons R34 was some of the earliest and most pervasive. It was usually low-res GIFs and JPGs on Web 1.0 Angelfire and Geocities sites. After dedicated R34 sites like Paheal came along, those hole-in-the-wall Geocities cartoon smut sites disappeared.

>What was early rule 34 like?

Either scans of pencil art on notebook paper with the contrast so poor you could barely make the lines out, or MS Paint monstrosities. Sometimes you'd get a flat digital coloring of one of those faded line drawings via a primitive precursor to photoshop, or someone a jagged outline drawing with flat digital colors done on a prehistoric ancestor of a tablet, but those were rare.

Basically, you had to search real hard to find 1 or 2 GOOD pieces of Rule 34 for a character you liked. Then you held onto those for dear life, because they were all you had.

It wasn't easy back then, I tells ya.

I recall scouring newsgroups for cartoon porn back in the day. I remember being annoyed with Julius Zimmerman because his stuff would get spammed in the newsgroups, hundreds of images at a time.

Team Artail. But none of you are old enough to know what that is.

Aerisdies my dog

IDK, from what I remember, the quality of R34 back then was generally better than it is today. The images were low-resolution but it seemed that they were drawn better and didn't deviate from the show's art style so grotesquely.

I blame it on the much larger Internet population now, it increases the amount of low-quality R34.

>the most you could find was poorly drawn stuff

So, nothing has changed then.

>IDK, from what I remember, the quality of R34 back then was generally better than it is today.

You are on serious drugs or not following the 34 scene properly. The only thing the modern 34 scene is missing that we used to have is Zone cranking out high-quality minisodes on a regular basis. He's a lazy pussy now.

>the quality of R34 back then was generally better than it is today
Really? From what ive seen old rule 34 looked ugly as fuck

Sauce?

ah, downloading edited comic panels on a 56k.
stuff like Gen13 and Witchblade had just started, inspiring many future comics to cater to horny teen boys

My n-word. I’ll still pop over there from time to time if I want to read Kamehastura

Holy shit member that terribly made porn cartoon they made? Sailorballs I think?

not really a community but I remember browsing...what was it, hentai.sexis? a lot

I think time and distance might be making you remember some of that late 90s/early 00s R34 as being better than it actually was. Go back and look at some of it again, man. Our standards were just a lot lower at the time because the amount of R34 was scarcer and the trickle of new material was so slow you could wait over a year for a character you liked to get some new art and even then it might just be "adequately fappable".

We used to think Doug Winger was good. It was a different time.

maybe he is mixing up r34 with hentai and doujinshi.

One thing I'll never get over is how there's nothing preserved of early 2000s WWOEC on the Wayback Archive because they had an anti-bot script.

Sad. All the history lost to time because of some faggy webmaster who was a little too paranoid about spambots.

There's a lot of early 2000s fanart (some hentai, some lewds, some clean) that I saved at the time, but lost a decade ago after a computer crash. And try as I might, I can recover none of it online, especially after this many years. Much of that era's internet history is wiped from the face of the Earth for eternity.

you must be looking in the wrong places
with todays art tools there are some amazing artists doing top quality R34 all over the place

but I can tell by your comment that if the R34 doesn't look exactly like the source style, then it's "ugly"

...

Damn, I'm surprised it's still alive

New grounds zone was the motha fuckin man.

yeah pretty much this. Erotic art has always existed, but explicit representations of cartoon characters started to appear as soon as cartoons characters themselves were a thing.

>OINK

I didn't have internet so I just bought Wizard. Parents thought it was a magazine about comics, how foolish they were. It was a porno mag that 12 year olds could legally buy.

Not really a porny place. But new grounds was my home

Hah, haven't thought of that place in a while. Once I found e-hentai and then later sadpanda I never went back.

Anyone know an easy way to download your collection off sadpanda? It might be blocked every where in the USA this time next week.

Wait really? Is this because of net neutrality?

DaTorrents
Aerisdies
2flashGames
Newgrounds
Pregfur
WISWRP

Yeah, there will be nothing stopping them from blocking anything they want. There's literally no reason from their perspective to allow such things, and a lot of reasons to ban them.

It was rough, desu. Needed to draw my own shit because back then, no one cared about Samus Aran.

This.
If no one else wanted to draw Judy Nails from Guitar Hero 3, I would just have to take matters into my own hands.
in more ways than one

Were you the one who drew the two-piece bathing suit Samus standing in the Windows XP water wallpaper?

Theres no way theyll block it, the ammount of backlash alone would hurt there sales

>Judy Nails
Good taste.

>For Gosh Sakes

Jesus christ, julius zimmerman sucks.

Yeah, that was me.

>implying any "backlash" would even come close to the praise from moralfags

LOL! Anything edgier than Sup Forums is going bye-bye, and probably Sup Forums itself.

IRONMOUSE, MOTHERFUCKER

Too soon user

yeah

There too pussy to do it, people would fight back against it

Not any more!

mobileobits.cleveland.com/obituaries/cleveland/obituary.aspx?n=&pid=187185733&referrer=0&preview=True

>IRONMOUSE

Bruh, haven't seen that name in many moons.

There's an argument to be made that Rule 34 refers to art created once the internet began and art that was created specifically to be put online, and that the earliest Rule 34 could not have been made before the internet. It's a crap argument, but I can see why it took so many posts before this user posted the right answer.

Did we ever find out what he looked like? Hes been doing this for well over twenty years

I mean cartoon porn in general, really

>Dudes who did R34 are dying
>Your favourite doujin artists will die in your lifetime

I had a friend who showed me a printout of a Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Catwoman orgy. Shit was cash.

"Sailor and the 7 Balls" is what I think you're talking about.
youtube.com/watch?v=ErL14VItNng

Sailor and the seven balls.
Also wasn't there a star warsparody by them, star balls or something?

Newgrounds and Ironmouse.

>tfw your family did not have internet and had to make do with the lingerie section in the Sears catalog.

Shit is pretty funny in retrospect.

>got so desperate I once masturbated to an episode of the cleveland show

>he is survived by... and many nieces and nephews

Wow he most likely never reproduced, no mention of wife or any surviving children.

>got so desperate I once masturbated to an episode of the cleveland show
You cant just say something like that without greentextint the experiance

I wonder if he died in the middle of making another titcow Jessica Rabbit.

>What was early rule 34 like
Nude edits of poor quality comic book scans
Zimmerman

Oh you sweet, sweet, summer child. They'll start slow, like boiling a frog. If you turn the heat up gradually enough they'll never even notice. But eventually even Redtube is going to be portioned off into tiered service, with the choice of paying $5.99 per month for the 'acceptable' streaming porn sites, with a big ol' Triple X and all caps PORN on your credit card statement, or you pay for the 'ultimate unlimited' Streaming Services tier...and pay as much as you would to ala cart all the stupid little ESPN Ocho stream channels and still only get access to the 'acceptable' streaming porn services that paid their own fees to be whitelisted and make sure to (overly)effectively moderate all content both for 'legality' and DMCA notices.

>ha ha look how nihilistic and foreboding i am aint i cool
You fags were the same shilling about the world ending in september. Shut the fuck up holy christ

It wasn't so bad in the years before the nipples were photoshopped out.

I noticed that too. It's like porn is bad for you or something.

Ever occur to you that Net Neutrality is what at least some of us were talking about, and here we are? Congrats. You played yourself.

I used to try to stay up until 3 am to jack it to those censored Girls Gone Wild adverts.
I was 12, so I usually ended up falling asleep before they came on.

>What was early rule 34 like?
pic related: totally accurate depiction

but to more fully answer the question, the thing that really spread R34 is the spread of the internet, and growth of online communities. It's not really a matter of more artists making more art, its just infinitely easier for artists to find audiences and vice versa
