JANE FOSTER Will Make 'Ultimate Heroic Sacrifice' in MIGHTY THOR #705

>Marvel is billing March's Mighty Thor #705 as the issue which Thor (a.k.a. Jane Foster) will die, as previously teased in various ways - including an on-the-nose title to the current arc.

>“The Death of the Mighty Thor” kicked off in October’s Mighty Thor #700, but now it appears that March’s Mighty Thor #705 is the actual issue in which Jane Foster will, in Marvel’s words, “make the ultimate heroic sacrifice” in the fight against the monstrous Mangog.

>“This is it, folks! The big showdown between Thor and Mangog. The penultimate chapter of ‘The Death of the Mighty Thor,’” said series editor Wil Moss in a statment. “Jason Aaron and Russell Dauterman have been building to this issue for over three years, and you absolutely do not want to miss this. You may think you know where things are going, but I promise you do not.”

>Jane Foster has been Thor since Odinson, the original hero to bear the name, became unworthy of his hammer Mjolnir in 2014’s Original Sin. In her time as Thor, Foster has battled cancer, with every moment she spends as a hero taking time off her life. A variant cover for Mighty Thor #700 featured Foster in a pose similar to the cover of the Marvel graphic novel The Death of Captain Marvel in which the Kree warrior Mar-Vell died of cancer.

>The Mighty Thor #705, which Marvel promises is “the beginning of a mind-shattering conclusion that will change the Thor story in explosive ways,” is due out on shelves March 21, 2018.

Well we'll see if it happens

Hopefully Dauterman can be put on a good book over at DC

...

...

can someone who isnt sexist tell me how this run has been?

The beginning and the WHO IS THOR stuff was awful. After that it got better. Not as good as the previous Aaron run, but it's OK.

Supporting cast has been more interesting than Jane and Aaron has a bad habit of repeating his older storylines + drawing out his mysteries for too long, making almost any reveal disappointing and unsatisfactory.

The 2014 book was terrible but it was okay after they relaunched it

It's pretty good when it's not focused on Jane. She's just a bland protagonist overall, but all the War of the Ten Realms stuff is interesting enough (if a bit dragged out) and Dautermann has been killing on art.

This pretty much, the non-Jane parts are good.

In b4 ultimate sacrifice is having to never stop being Thor or she will die.

is spoiling upcoming comics now a thing? what the fuck, why is nobody mentioning this?

Marvel is in the shit so badly that they need any kind of spin. Even spoiling the grand finale of a 3 year long comic book arc is okay if it at least gets SOME attention.

Marvel Comics is in the same boat as DC movies.... and they are up shit creek without a paddle.

For a long time. Usually not 3 months in advance, though.

BORING.

The writing has been just so dull. Art is okay.

>Usually not 3 months in advance, though.
What? It's almost always 3 months in advance. Solicits for comics get released 3 months in advance.

Also, this is hardly a spoiler. They've been saying for months that Jane would die at the end of this arc.

It is genuinely good aside from the Titana scene & the fact that Asgard suddenly inexplicably turns against Odin for no other reason then after Millions of years they all seem to come to the collective epiphany that patriarchal kingdoms are bad.

Hey why is a vet checking on this cancer patient

Art is Decent

The Main Character is boring, and sometimes gets very shilled. Marvel is wants her to catch on so hard that they fail at making a great story.

I heard Mark Waid wrote her better in his Avengers title.

Funny how when Bendis leaves and there is slumping sales they finally get rid of FemThor.

Fake-out

Marvel is going to make her the new Valkyrie, just letting you all know this ahead of time.

pretty shitty characters if they cant even cure cancer

Is that nigga doing magic? What the fuck.

>Everyone faces when Odinson is actually the one that dies while Jane takes over permanently
>The pic from a month ago with a gold hammer is actually a statue made to remember Odinson

Why are they killing Jane ?she's the only SJ character with decent sales

Press S to spit on her face

Even that tertiary Bill from Oklahoma character that died became an einherjar after death.
Jane was the Norse God of Thunder for a while, she's sticking around as a Valkyrie supporting character, you can bet on it.

It's so fucking bizarre how the big two post spoilers of their own comics months in advance. Where did that system even start?

It's mostly Marvel that posts their own. DC's get leaked when review copies go out.

Anyway it's obviously a ploy to try and goad retailers into ordering more copies of a book because of the way Diamond makes you order in advance or whatever.

I will press G to give flowers to her grave.

The point of all these SJ characters is that Robert Downey Jr. and Chris Evans are going to get old eventually, and they want to start workshopping new characters now so that they're ready in five years or so without having to reboot the MCU.

Even if Jane-as-Thor is selling (is it?), it hasn't made a Jane-Foster-As-Thor that can be a movie in 2025. Ms. Marvel and Miles Morales can be movies, maybe even America Chavez and Riri Williams. Fem!Thor? No, ship's sailed.

Once Jane Foster was written out of the Thor movies, Fem!Thor was doomed in the comics. The actual sales of the comic are almost completely irrelevant, here. The comics are research and development for the movies now, because if they get twenty Hellcats and America Chavezes for every Ms Marvel, it's more than worth it to them.

how the fuck the cure for cancer doesn't exists in the 616 universe

Wakanda didn't want to share

Didn't Osborn create a cure for cancer to try and kill Deadpool?

>Want to continue the franchise
>Want to keep earning the big bucks from international releases
>Keep pushing niggers even though nobody except Americans and Western Europeans (who are basically just liberal Americans at this point) gives a shit

Hmmm

What skin color do you think Jane Foster is?

The beginning was terrible but it got better. It hovers between mediocre and good but jane foster is by far the least interesting character. All the villains have been bretty gud though. So it's worth pirating it for the antagonist porn.

It's Strange

But who are we to judge?

Where is that ashole Frigga? The self-appointed ruler of Asgard? The asshole that renamed Asgard to Asgardia?

She is just a token Asgardian musclehead in that. Talks like an Asgardian with manners of an Asgardian. Claims to have fought beings that she never fought before. Claimed some of Thor's feats as her own. Basically a femThor but without any of the charm.

Osborn have the cure for cancer but used it as a weapon against Deadpool. Wakanda have the cure for cancer but won't share it because they are massive cunts. Asgardians have the cure for cancer and actually offered it to Jane. But Jane being a massive anti-magic cunt, refused. Doctor Strange found an elixir for all diseases and illnesses but used it on a critically injured Wong before he had the chances to mass produce it. The Kree have the cure for cancer but doesn't care about the traitor Mar-Vel and thus refused to share it.

Let me guess, instead of trusting others to handle their shit she once again runs away from her cancer treatment to at least die feeling an adrenaline rush. How selfless.

Jane "dont use no magic for my cancer" Foster is using magic to cure her cancer is my point.

what a bunch of a-holes

the entire time she's been Thor has been building to a heroic sacrifice

that said i think Aaron will find a workaround bc she's been so popular

>bc she's been so popular
>killed off in the movies
>was never even mentioned
>comics are a niche market

Jane died in the movies?

She was dropped in the movies after two of them, and it was mentioned in the third. She was never "killed off".
Disney realized that women were interested in heroic female characters like Harley and Diana, not hapless girlfriends like Lois.

You're retarded. Sure the comics want that but Feige doesn't give a shit what the comics are doing right now, Marvel Studios and Comics are completely seperate entities. He's got over 50 years worth of comics to adapt, why do you think they'd want to adapt unfinished stories that only Marvel claim will be "significant". Writers are doing this stuff in the hope they'll get adapted but there's nothing to say they will. Look at how Bendis fucked that up with his GotG.

Also it's pretty obvious Thor won't die but Jane will give up her human life to live as an Asgardian

The MCU isn't adapting anything, they are telling their own stories that use broad strokes from the old comics. No one wants to sit through a verbatim retelling of Secret Wars.

>Death of Whor becomes her most popular appearance
>marvel takes this as a sign that she's finally caught on
>immediately resurrected
>another 300 issues of Whor that nobody wants

>nobody wants
She sells better than regular Thor

GOODBYE

JOJO0

Thor/Odinson offered her the cure for cancer before she was even revealed to be the one with the hammer. Because using magic to cure cancer is bad, so she's using other magic to not-cure her cancer and die from it.

She did but I don’t think she does anymore.

Jane isn't dying, she's just going to stop being Thor.

They don't have the balls to kill Foster off.

Doctor Strange is currently a Vet. Lost to some sort of magic tournament to Loki “off screen”. Loki won and took the Sorcerer Supreme title, Sanctum, and turned Stranges apprentice into his girlfriend

Hasn't she already done the "Ultimate Heroic Sacrifice" years ago? im getting major deja-vu from this topic title.

That is such a missleading fact.
Her first few issues sold better then she tanked

From a non-biased perspective, you have to accept a few things to look at Jane's Mighty Thor.

-You have to disregard old canon.
If you're a Thor fan, you know the hammer was recently broken, and was rebuilt using a portion of the Odinforce and his- Thor's soul locked inside to reforge it.It was a part of him.You also had to forget all previous established lore and canon on Mjolnir itself, whose enchantment had been made by Odin himself. He's wielded it many times himself, prominently on Fear Itself recently.

If you could get over this, there's also the annoying fact there was a satisfying resolution as to why Thor's magically not worthy. Anyone who's long running into Thor canon, Thor's done TONS of horrible shit, including killing his friends and allowing Tony to be subjected to torture in one in canon timeline- and he still was eventually worthy of wielding it.

I would have preffered Sif to carry it. At least it would make sense- she was a warrior.

Finally- Jane wasnt a warrior. Why was she able to fucking be amazing with the Hammer? Having the power of Thor doesnt mean you know how to fight.

If you can get over these and a few more niggling bits?

It's just decent. Jane's boring.
I'm sorry, she's just boring. It isnt the cancer- We've all seen Breaking Bad and didnt mind a cancer patient lead. She's just...I dont know. Bland.

Yeah I know it's strange my main gripe is why is he using Magic on Jane who has been opposed to magic from the start.

This. Also why I hate Medusa and BB when Medusa took the throne. Black Bolt acted like the fucking attack dog on the kingdom that shunned him.

Bill, Son of Bills, was awesome and should become the new Thor

>She's just...I dont know. Bland.
Because they refuse to give her any personality or traits besides "has cancer" and "She's so brave!" because giving her a personality would mean exposing her to the potential of being wrong or disliked.

I need a loss edit

Also, giving her a personality would probably bring up the issue of her dead/abandoned family from back when she was written out of Thor in the 70s.

Dude, NOBODY remembers she had a SON named Jimmy, and a fucking husband

She's a horrible mother.
We've never ONCE heard her, talk about her fucking son. Mighty Thor is such a shitty, continuity fest, that i'm often tempted to remove the 'Decent, IF' tag, I give it, but I remind myself you cant endlessly dock points for one problem.

Are deadbeat mothers 'worthy' of the power of Thor?

I mean, are they?

It's about damn time.

>using magic
>when the entire point of the run was that she didn't want to cure it through magic

Good to know that they're not even going to pretend to let her die with any sort of dignity. She deserves nothing less.

Feige would rather CGI Beta Ray Bill than cast JaneTHor

I thought back near the start of Aaron's run Thor actually visited Jane and she had her family? Or was there a whole OTHER family?

There are no deadbeat mothers user, only victims of the patriarchy11!1

She's still doing above 30k, which is way better than most of the legacy characters, but that's not saying much.

Did the series ever explain what Jane was doing on the moon to have picked up the hammer in the first place?

Someone please tell me Darcy is all right at least. :(

He should have a teamup with Beta Ray Bill.

The beginning is flat out terrible. It gets better after the relaunch, but ironically, Thor is by far the least interesting part of the comic.

>Ultimate Heroic Sacrifice
Nothings going to happen in the long run. People don't stay dead. I fucking hate comics now.

Based Mangog

Good fucking riddance
Now bring back Cyclops and real Captian Marvel

Fuck off Bendis, no one wants movies with your pet characters.

Someone do a finger edit.

They are going to reboot the entire MCU after phase 6 anyway and restart with a new Tony Stark, new Steve Rodgers, completely recast Avengers, and if everything goes as planned completely recast FF, Spidey and X-Men. Everyone, Fresh start. They will probably do this every couple of decades from now until forever (ie until it stops making money).

What did you think, that they are going to trust the people in THIS picture to carry one of the most profitable movie franchises on earth? They are going to have fucking RIri tying to carry Iron Man movies? Or Jane making Thor movies? The most coverage alternative and diversity characters like this will get is maybe a few one shots at the tail end of phase 6 before everything is rebooted.

She was there with everyone when Thor was sobbing on the moon, apparently she didn't leave with the rest of them.

It's fucking good actually, I'm not much a fan of thor and I love it. Aaron is good, but I admit that I understand a bit who hates this run because he replaced the real thor.

I press s to have sex with her and with your mother.

Ha! I was right, Jane will sacrifice herself to defeat Mangog... you know, not even Thor and Odin together can defeat him, but she has "girl power" and once she dies I see two possible outcomes:

a) She died in battle so she will go to Valhalla, where she will continue to be an important character in Aaron's next arcs.
b) Mjolnir will be destroyed (synergy) and then the new Mjolnir will have the essence of Jane, that's why is golden... like her hair, well... her former hair.

>'Ultimate Heroic Sacrifice'
sure, aaron.

>ultimate sacrifice
Let me guess, they get their shit kicked in, Whor begs mjolnir to go back to Odinson(because its fucking sentient now), and she dies of cancer after their fight

Still in a coma after the getting stabbed with a venoms dagger that Loki had, try to read the series before complaining about them guys.

Ok, what's with Capt Marvel's package? Look at it! I don't know if his balls start at his stomach or... what exactly is going on there. Do Kree have different sexual organs then humans?

Hey what the fuck?

The muscles you'd call abs extend from up inside your tenth rib level and below into your pubic region, they're just especially hard to define.

Jane not too good for magic medicine any more?

here u go
