GET THE FUCK BACK IN, WE'RE NOT DONE YET. WE'RE MAKING A NEW REC CHART
I MADE A PASTEBIN EDITION.
Thanks to popular request, I spent the past few hours creating a pastebin with a full list of what is on there currently, and links to all the websites. Fucking kill me. pastebin.com/EstdYp0D
If you don't see your recommendation on the chart, remind me. I have lost my fucking mind. ALSO RECOMMEND COMICS ON THE CHART THAT ARE SO GOOD THEY NEED A GOLD BORDER. Gold border requirements: >Must be finished. >Must have stayed good the entire run. >Majority agrees this comic is really good.
My current picks for special attention is Problem Sleuth, Dr. McNinja, Graveyard Quest, and It Hurts!! If you disagree that any of those deserve a gold border, please object now.
Otherwise, send me all your recommendations for comics that haven't made the chart, objections to comics on the chart, and suggested changes to the chart in general.
Today's chart is brought to you by the full NFL Films orchestra score by Sam Spence, The Autumn Thunder.
Just cut the antirecs in half, delete the extra rows at the bottom, slap a fresh by date on it and be done.
David Brown
>no Awful Hospital MODS
Kayden Rogers
Yeah you're right. I'll probably sign off on it once this thread dies and make it ready to be shareable. Fuck, knew I forgot something.
Jack Adams
Where is End town?
Samuel Russell
>No 1/0, Darths & Droids, Fortuna, Nature of Nature's Art, or Awful Hospital
Jackson Evans
No Will Draw for Food?
I'd say it'd be good for depression or gag a day
Mason Ramirez
I dunno what you guys think of SMBC but I quite like it.
Aiden Jackson
Fuck it was on the list nevermind
David Richardson
Every man has a place, in his heart there's a space, And the world can't erase his fantasies
This is the last edition before I certify it tomorrow morning. Any objections will have to be in this thread.
I added Darth and Droids at the last second along with Awful Hospital. I skimmed over the other suggestions and thought they were too furry. If I'm wrong call me a faggot and convince me otherwise.
Parker Jackson
Well fuck, you got me. That's the one I forgot to add. I put it in Slice of Life because honestly it could work in that category, and that one is pretty barren desu.
Luke Perry
I could see it being Slice of Life
Carter Bennett
There are a fucking bajillion webcomics out there, what's the point of this? A popularity contest?
Asher Fisher
Yeah kinda. It's to separate the good from the bad, like the ones this board would really recommend. Like I wanted to do this because I wanted my friends to get in to webcomics and this is an easy way to do it.
Evan Lee
>1/0 How in the fuck is that furry? Literally none of the main characters is an anthro animal. >Nature of Nature's Art ...Okay, this one is very difficult, but I still enjoy it nonetheless, especially in Lycosa, where it's basically DBZ but with spiders. >Fortuna It's basically a space opera where you control alien species and talk to robots through a computer game.
Austin Fisher
Popularity isn't a signification of quality, especially in webcomics.
Luis Long
>1/0 Alright I fucked that up, my mind was gone and I confused it with another comic. I'll give it a quick read through just because of how badly I fucked up.
>Fortuna If its more game than comic it might not get in, but I think it deserves a look through because of my fuck up, and it sounds interesting.
Josiah Cook
Can we post Kiwiblitz in the chart? Pretty please? With some Horny teens on top?
Jaxon Rogers
Thats true, because while I crossed check over Reddit and Imgur, everyone thought Questionable Content was the fucking bomb. I'm not a full retard though, I checked over these comics before putting them on the chart. Do you think I fucked up on any of it?
Angel Ross
>Do you think I fucked up on any of it? No, I just think it's shitty to perpetuate this "only read big well-known comics" thing in a medium that's still fresh and growing and so full of great stuff getting completely overshadowed due to the ease of releasing comics online causing massive oversaturation.
Why not put effort into trying to promote lesser-known comics or making threads for people to share their stuff or obscure comics or something.
These "_ recommends" things work fine for a board like /m/ or Sup Forums where people are talking about big productions and games/anime/movies and shit but webcomics are a huge frontier with only a handful of shit that gets any recognition.
Landon Sanders
Speaking of comics, where do we put Bleedman's Works?
Jason Sanchez
No, no, it's an interactive webcomic about a person playing a game about a space opera, Here's a more complete version: mspfa.com/?s=3646&p=1 Here's the revamp version, which is currently attempting to catch up to the more complete version: cosmosdex.com/fortuna/p/0
Gabriel Clark
Not OP, but I dont think you're understanding how this chart has worked for the past 10 years.
Aaron Myers
This isn't a Promote Lesser Known Webcomics Chart. This is the Sup Forums Recommends these Webcomics chart, and I feel that the OP has spent three entire threads taking great care in making sure he hasn't overstepped any boundaries in the general opinion of Sup Forums
Jose Jones
>Gold border I feel like 8bit theater should make the list, and I feel like it deserves a gold border, if only for the brick jokes
Elijah Martinez
I understand what it is and how it works, I'm just saying that it's retarded to make one for webcomics compared to making them for other mediums.
Asher Brown
Why though? Why is it retarded?
Sebastian Price
In the fucking trash.
You make a good point. My only counter point would be that this chart is more of a jumping off point, a guide on where to start. I do like the idea of up and coming webcomics, the only problem ironically is getting people to find them to recommend. And what happens when a beautiful webcomic starts, then quits after two pages? There was an absolute gem called Home Beings that I wanted in, but it only had two episodes so I couldn't really recommend it. And hey, maybe I will put effort in to a chart like that, I love hanging out in /hyw/ do you have any in mind?
Depends on how horny they are, I rejected Gorilland and Sis' Love because of that. Thanks, mate. I'll try to read over it before I finalize tomorrow.
Kevin Nguyen
it's mostly about some teens Trying to play superhero and getting kicked around for that, but dont worry no Lewds here officer only cute scenes between some dumb kids
Christian Morgan
>do you have any in mind? I don't want to list any and come off as a shill, especially after being a bit combative in this thread, but if you ever tried to do something like that and I happen to stop by Sup Forums while there's a thread going I'll definitely poke my head in to recommend things.
Hudson Collins
(OP)
You forgot Monster under the bed
Chase Cox
Well fuck me, I have lost my mind. I read that one and really enjoyed it. Only problem was that I was told it was a porn comic before I read it, and it reads more like urban fantasy. Yeah sure, Mary Cagle already has a comic on the chart so I'm going to trust it. Combative is good, its the only way ideas get spread on Sup Forums. I'll really think about doing like a bi-weekly or monthly "Upcoming webcomics" thread, although /hyw/ is already a good source of that. I mean I tripfagged myself, might as well put it to good use.
Evan Green
>Bleedman is trash Are we talking From down below or PPGD?
Cameron Smith
And we will live together, until the twelfth of never. Our voices will ring forever, as OOOONNNEEE
If (You) make me relive my webcomic youth of Bleedman, Psyguy, and literally hundreds of Sonic sprite comics, I will kill myself before I certify this fucking chart.
Once again, tell me if I fucked up, or any objections. I don't know why I feel like the need to keep saying this, people haven't really objected so far.
Gabriel Phillips
ayy, wheres girl genius?
Jacob Hall
That was one that I forgot about while I was busy losing my mind. It honestly only really seems okay, but the awards it won might sway me. I want this list to be pretty uncontroversial. I also don't want to add another row for one comic if this thread is alive when I wake, I might find a way to get it in there.
Gavin Sanchez
RPG World should be red, not orange
Cooper Campbell
Ian recently dedicated an entire episode of his show O.K. KO! To finishing the comic, and then made one last bonus comic as a final goodbye. I feel like that's wraps it up proper enough to warrant an orange. I think he holds the record for longest hiatus
Ian Howard
Neo Cosmos is the only one under the anti-recs I don't recognize. What makes it so bad?
Jacob Nelson
I wonder how one Sup Forums would go about expanding their horizons when it comes to webcomics. I almost never hear about new ones. It's almost always the same handful of big webcomics. Even the more obscure ones that are mentioned seem to always be the same few.
Kevin Carter
i remember reading dumbing of age 4 years ago back when i was in highschool and really liking it i also crushed hard on malaya for some reason getting up to date a couple weeks ago made me sad desu
John Adams
Slice of life/comedy/fetish: Rosianna Rabbit (pretty much stopped) More comedy: comics from Oywind Thorsby (ongoing, on a fifth comic) Gag-a-day: Bug Martini (ongoing)
Nicholas Hill
No giants in the playground? Is it because of the 5 wpm guy?
Nicholas Cook
...
Jeremiah Sullivan
Something is amiss in your based collections.
Charles Barnes
I feel "anything by Ryan Sohmer" deserves to be on the anti-rec list.
Nicholas Campbell
Zen Pencils for anti-rec
James Reed
>curvy I like the artstyle, but it's degenerate shit
Easton Powell
Super mega comics need to be on this
Brandon Anderson
It's trying to be Steven Universe without being SU. That alone would make half of Sup Forums mad. The plot is stale and doesn't move, the characters are unlikeable, and it's a clear cut example of characters being diverse for no reason. If you see jokes about vitiligo on the board, it's because of this. The future is bright, user. It's okay user, atleast we still have the toe dad arc. Go outside. >Complains about degeneracy >In a porn comic This one is more grandfathered in really. It got recommended in these threads along with the other rec charts.
Justin Reed
I like porn comics, but Curvy is just fucking for the sake of it.
Lucas Reyes
Different user, but I checked it out and it's also stupidly decompressed, What was accomplished in 1100 panels could have been better displayed at around 350.
Logan Bell
Do you believe, my friend, in what you claim? People of the world, all doubt the same. Bringing questions of their own, Truth is written in the stone.
I feel like Order of the Stick has grown in to such a juggernaut I'm afraid to recommend it, because it could have grown in so many ways. I'm not really getting it, desu I would love a name. I hate when that happens. Paranatural is on the chart by the skin of its teeth, because Morris only just now remembers what a plot is.
Also to the user that recommended Waterworks to me, I love you. I loved it, up until the 4-year detour where they completely forget about the plot and decide to have flashbacks. Yet another example of comics that don't have a full vision losing track. Which is a shame, because it would have been a guaranteed spot on the chart if it wasn't for that. Also if the author worked at Hussie's level of sheer output, but thats just inhuman
Anymore objections? I have gone over every comic on this thread, if that means anything.
Xavier Diaz
>I would love a name. Warbot in Accounting It only had 15 editions, from late 2009 to early 2010. They were all solid platinum kino level shit.
Jack Myers
Witches And Stitches and Doctor Fun in honorable forefathers? Witches And Stitches is the first ever webcomic, appearing on CompuServe and Doctor Fun was the first webcomic to appear on what the internet is today.
Cooper Wood
I can't find almost any information on Witches and Stitches besides who created it and when. I might include Doctor Fun, the only thing is that the "Honorable Forefathers" is more about those that inspired current comic culture.
