Oh shit, I didn't know this was Chuck Austen, I thought it was only infamous for the art.
This is a very special kind of shit on every level
How did Austen think that CGI models was a good idea?
it was cheap and/or cutting edge at the time?
...
what the fuck kind of shadman shit am I reading
Some very lazy artists still do this today, but they hide it a bit better.
the next page has tits, lol
Who knew Tony Stark had opinions about Richard III?
I assumed this was going to be some 1993 shit when computer animation was the dank new thing in kids TV shows but then I looked at the date and saw 2003 lmao
oh shit boi time to fap
I wish I had this in higher resolution, sorry
>punching Fury's head off
HAHAHAHAAHA
who hurt you, OP?
yes, there's U.S. War Machine volume 1, and it's b/w manga style and 12 issues long so we're not reading it even though it sets up this 'plot'
the world
here's the art style for the first volume, artist sure loves them nipples
What pornsite did you find this from?
THis was published by Marvel and somewhere I have the floppies to prove it
I unironically love this because this is the pinnacle of memorably, how the fuck did this get made, several people signed off on this being okay, bad
Well this is in fact one of the biggest Fuck Yous I can imagine so good job
thanks, I try to be the Sup Forums I want to see
>THis was published by Marvel
I don't believe you.
sassy!
...
Was this during Jemas's time there?
In hindsight, a lot of people forget how spectacularly hit-and-miss the MAX Imprint was.
I mean sure, we got Alias, Supreme Power, and all the Garth Ennis war books, but we also got a shitty Black Widow mini starring the Black Widow nobody gave a shit about, Luke Cage at his most absolute ghetto nigga, Deadpool MAX, which was just kinda nauseating to look at, and shit like this.
There's a reason why the imprint was semi-retired.
the Fantomex MAX book was a complete waste of paper too
It was cheap, Marvel was broke at the time, traditional books weren't selling, I guess he said he'd do it for a buck fifty because iirc Austen also "drew" the first volume. At some point, even a book which sells 35k/issue @ $1.50 (and craps them all out the same month, the way the first volume did) is going to make more profit than a book that costs $2.99 and sells 52k but has a full art and writing team (as was the case with Alias #1, on sale the same month).
Not least because if you say they're going to be great and people don't know how wrong you can be, you get 3x 35k orders, pay the monkey his peanuts, and spend the profit on paying off your heavily subsidized X-Men titles with their variant costs and whatever.

I think you guys are forgetting Austen's magnum opus, The Eternal
no escape from being in a Chuck Austen comic!
>What the FUCK wrong with me!!??
indeed
...
What's Austen up today? I've heard he's a producer on Steven Universe.
...
hey, some neutron bombs! all loaded on a truck, nice
...
some quality texture shading
...
god why did I decide to storytime this
fun fact
Christian Moore doesn't exist
Austen who was ALREADY using a pseudonym didn't want to be associated with all the Victoria 3/Michael 3/Poser 4 bullshit he made here.
Because you love u so much.
Why does Parnell have the Punisher skull on his mask?
...
that's fucking hilarious
to designate that he's the edgiest member
...
...
Austen's 80s art isn't that bad.
>Johnny's hat
wait what
...
this keeps giving me flashbacks to 90s 'cinematic' computer games
Batman Digital Justice has aged better.
...
To his credit nearly every asset in this is a real honest to god GG asset available at the time and he did his best to avoid dropping in or tracing pictures.
Believe it or don't this was cutting edge for what you could do on a personal computer in 2003. That being said he was pretty clearly new to Poser in terms of skill and there were much more talented renderers out there. Also he REALLY should have rendered most of this in Bryce since ray tracing wasn't a thing in Poser or DAZ Studio yet.
just lyin' here
naked and pregnant
*CGI asset
Cap's lips are terrifying on this page
Don't you do this every year?
Marvel probably made that decision. He likely just got asked to write it.
>Cap's lips
This male model was digitally scanned off the asset company president's head. We used to say it was unrealistic as hell until he posted his photograph. I later asked him how his family felt about his likeness appearing in so much CGI gay porn and he said they were old fashioned and didn't go to those sites.
>Deadpool MAX, which was just kinda nauseating to look at,
But Tucker Stone says it's a good book!
sorry, christmas phone call
I haven't done an SOP in a long time
I want to believe
it's got to be porn
Believe. After getting ousted from the company he helped found, he now runs the SLC Comic-Con.
I kind of want a good drawfag to take up the project of drawing this well. See if the change in artstyle could salvage it.
oh my god
that's amazing
2D>D
To be fair I love nipples too.
>mfw it turns out Bru got the Bucky!Cap idea from this comic
everyone has them!
Yeah and SDCC is suing him for using the name Comic-Con but oddly not suing NYCC
Ironically this head model has the highest polygon count of all the Michaels since 2000. The current Michael 8's total polygon count is less than the head this model uses, it's just that it was poorly rigged and Dan Farr's actual head is simply too exaggerated in proportion as a simple base.
...
...
How can you sue someone for using the name Comic Con?

How has he not gotten the Mormon Mafia to put out a hit on the faggots in San Diego
not going to suck itself.jpg
I wonder. Are there any legitimately good CG comics? Like CG comics of any kind that legitimately seemed lovingly sculpted on a reputable CG program?
Did anyone ever make Max Headroom comics?
Digital Justice has early 90s charm.
Every time I see this comic I all ways think of those Porn comics in the misc. tab on sad panda.
Also you can watch Liquid Television in full-on VHS level quality on the Internet Archive now
As fucking awesome as that idea is I'm thinking more along the lines of detailed CG sculptures applied to a comic. It would take time, sure, but I can see the potential.
...
that is quite the ass
...
>they hide it a bit better
They just draw over the cheap models, but some of them are so lazy you can easily tell like Janin
...
