???

Reportedly the MOTU movie wont have skeletor in it

>no skeletor

What the fuck is the point?

That is like sending he-man to earth for a fish out of wat- oh oh........

Sony is fucking stupid, thats why. Just look at homecoming and ghostbusters. Its a damn shame the only good movie theyve made in years tanked, blade runner 2049 was really good

I understand why they are probably doing that from a studio executive perspective - Skeletor is largely seen as a total joke of a villain within popular culture. Couple that with the fact that the entire franchise is viewed as a campy crypto-homosexual piece of nostalgia bait by the majority of people.

They're probably already biting their nails over greenlighting this in the first place. Or not, Sony is fucking beyond incompetent so who knows what the thought process is there.

>Skeletor is largely seen as a total joke of a villain within popular culture.
Hes literally the most beloved character in the franchise. People love him as a villain, if anyones a joke its he man because of prince adam. Either way fuck sony, theyve already ruined the movie two years before it even comes out.

Um, can we get some sauce on this news?

Also, I can see it working, but only if the main villain is Hordak.

I said to myself Phil Lord & Chris Miller are pretty much the only people in Hollywood who could pull off the MOTU movie, and they’d have to have the characters just like they did in those commercials OP posted.

Of course that was never going to happen ;_;

>Hes literally the most beloved character in the franchise. People love him as a villain, if anyones a joke its he man because of prince adam

He might be well loved but he's still a clown of a villain. At least within the context of the original cartoon which is what most people associate with when they think about the franchise (apart from the toys, of course).

Not saying Skeletor doesn't have potential to be a great screen villain, just that most people wouldn't take it seriously. See what I'm getting at?

They're saving Skeletor for movie 2 because the Joker skipped Batman Begins to appear in The Dark Knight. This has been a trend with major villains since TDK came out.

FUCK, it’s going to be EXACTLY like the GI Joe movies where it’s just 2 hours of generic shit peppered with lampshading and shame, then a paltry setup for Skeletor being in the second one, isn’t it?

Why is Hollywood just literally incapable of creating movies for kids?

>just that most people wouldn't take it seriously
You were never supposed to take He-Man seriously, this is completely missing the point.

Hes literally the most competant person from that series, almost everyone else was a joke. Their is no point in this and only cementes how fucking retarded sony is
Hordak shouldve been the big bad with build up, not skeletor

Well David Goyer is behind this so, yes, you will have to be taking this seriously (or try to, Goyer is obviously a hack). I'd prefer something like discussed but that's obviously not what we are going to get.

You can't tell me they're going to try to turn He-Man into Game of Thrones.

So adam's gonna be full gay while also doing She-ra and hiding his conflicted feelings for the new villain?

Have you read the original mini comics? They were pretty serious back then

Why do people keep allowing them to make movies they've been pretty crap all year.

I can't tell if you're baiting me. Why the fuck wouldn't they? This is from the guy who wrote Batman v Superman and produced by the most clueless studio in Hollywood. What exactly are you expecting?

Skeletor did work as a more sinister villain the Master of the Universe movie.

I won't believe it up until I see a source for this shit of news.

This make no fucking sense.

these fake muscle suits look pretty good now. should make one for PowerGirl and just hire a tall actress to play her

>They're saving Skeletor for movie 2 because the Joker skipped Batman Begins to appear in The Dark Knight
>movie 2
Man they're really confident

It was announced a few months ago, im trying to find the article

>I understand why they are probably doing that from a studio executive perspective - Skeletor is largely seen as a total joke of a villain within popular culture.

Hordak should only appear in the third or 4th movie, after She-rah got her own move.

This article says evil lyn is the main villain
google.com/amp/amp.denofgeek.com/us/movies/masters-of-the-universe/242423/masters-of-the-universe-movie-news

God, fucking, dammit. Look, I know He-Man is a stupid concept on paper. But that doesn't mean it can't be a fucking blast, and it doesn't give producers an excuse to half ass it. Transformers? GI Joe? Jem? All fucking shit because they don't even try, just cranked out appealing to the lowest common denominator. He-Man should be the embodiment of 80s heavy metal album nonsense, Mad Max meets LOTR meets (stick with me) GOTG. Fucking SONY is incompetent.

This is the same company that replaced the long awaited ghostbuster sequal with the pitch perfect equivalent full of “im fat and my pussy farted LOL XD” humor, written by paul fag, what did you expect from them?
>He-Man should be the embodiment of 80s heavy metal album nonsense
Exactly right, my friend

uh, no.
The article directly say it is in:
>He also confirmed that in addition to He-Man and Skeletor we'll see characters like Battle Cat and Evil-Lyn in the movie
>pic related

Fuck you for making me link to reddit
google.com/amp/s/amp.reddit.com/r/movies/comments/6bw5i5/skeletor_will_not_be_the_villain_of_the_new_heman/

In my mind, a good He-Man movie would have shots framed like Thor Ragnarok. Thor fleeing the dragon, the Valkyries fighting Hela, that kind of image porn.

>See what I'm getting at?

Oh I do. Shame the same applies to He-Man as well so if they're ashamed of Skeletor there's absolutely no way they will do He-Man justice.

And the 2002 series and the comics

Exactly, with the same type of music but with all the wacky characters skeletor had instead. Imagine a fight between he man and gygor on the big screen

So it's a reddit link, liking itself to a youtube video who is just reporting rumors.

It's still quite weak.

Ive seen an article a few months ago, i cant understand where the fuck it went

Skeletor is as much of a joke as Cobra Commander or Megatron

Megatron wasn't the joke. starscream was.

Whenever I see people say Skeletor was great in the movie, I always think it missed the character because he DIDN'T have any of the cackling / LACK of seriousness from the original cartoon.
I'd have thought in the age of the MCU having a not-deadly-serious Skeletor would be something the studio KNOWS the audience won't have a problem with. And I only mean not 100% serious as in how Loki isn't, or how Ultron was much less sinister than in comics.

>another victim of the "chinese skeleton ban" meme
o Jesus fucking Christ.

dude it's a heman movie that's the point. Nobody want a pseudo intellectual gritty reboots for toys franchises.

>David Goyer

holy shit thor ragnarok was totally an 80s he man movie

Well hopefully they embrace the humor and camp instead of trying to make it serious

I'd kek if the after credit scene are the characters talking about the lesson in the story

>I'd kek if the after credit scene are the characters talking about the lesson in the story
It would be perfect.

Goyer only wrote the preliminary script for bvs, most of the final product was rewritten by chris terrio.
Goyer co wrote batman begins and dark knight, and those are quality films.
I really dont get the hate for goyer. Hes not great, fine but blade and the first 2 nolan bat films are great. And goyer helped write those.

No, Hordak should come with She-Ra

Hordak was a MOTU villain, user

And She-Ra is an MOTU hero.

>I really don't get the hate for goyer
Brand loyalty. And permavirgins.

he's busy making money, bitch

youtube.com/watch?v=-PgTjhx1VLw

Who ever did costumes for that did phenomenal.

Blade is not great and his tone for those three films does not work for all comic/cartoon properties, but Goyer can only write one tone. He takes himself way too seriously and openly dislikes the source material he'w working with. His bitchfit about Martian Manhunter also alienated a lot of comics fans.

They should have just made a skelator movie. No one gives a shit about he man.

I think there's a fine line that they would need to walk. The He-Man/Thundercats crossover did a good job of handling a serious story while embracing the inherent goofyness of the franchise.

>Sony movie
>character who is a skeleton will be missing from the movie
We have to stop the Chinese. Their meme of a country has been ruining movies for too long

It's because of the cinematic universe shit. Hyping future movies is more important than the movies themselves. They leave the big villain out of this one so they can't hype him to sell the sequel.

There only 2 ways to do a Heman movie proper.

>full on ham, that doesnt take itself seriously. Takes the ridiculousness of the old cartoon and runs with it. Everyones ripped as fuck and riding around on big green tigers and looks like they came right out of the cartoon.

>full on 80s fantasy/scifi adventure movie. Everything looks like a heavy metal album cover, and ripped men and women ride around on tigers and crazy hotrods with monster faces on the front, fighting a skeleton man with magic powers. Like giving the Fury Road treatment to movies like Conan the Barbarian and Red Sonja.

Make skeletor the main character.

>homecoming
That was 100% marvel + Disney with sony collecting royalties.

I wouldn't be shocked at all. This new trend of "Let's see x before it becomes x" has become an absolute burden on adaptations, and I hate the very idea of it if it serves zero purpose other than to compensate for lazy writing.

w-what

What if he's still Keldor and becomes skullhead in the last act?

Hordak either needs to be a sequel villain, or pop up in a She-Ra spinoff.

I dug the idea of Hordak being essentially the villain's villain, and even Skeletor acknowledging the threat he poses.

You're right, there can never be a good live action Skeletor. Totally can't happen.
m.youtube.com/watch?v=vOsHoqhbUIU

>They're probably already biting their nails over greenlighting this in the first place.
My understanding is that the film rights are expiring next year, so they HAD to make a movie NOW. Sony had been sitting on the rights and done nothing to it, and Mattel is very likely wanting to give the rights to some other film studio. Sony is basically trying to make some money in the last possible moment.

And as we learned many times, when you make a film in a rush, you get a crappy film.

Skeletor's humorous quirks match whatever the material is trying to be. What makes him Skeletor is his love for the dramatic and flamboyant approach. Langella did a great job at the most important aspect of Skeletor, which is to be larger than life.

>David Goyer

How the fuck does he still get work?

He was far from deadly serious though. Langella was packing more ham than the Netherlands in that performance, that's what made it so fun.

A deadly serious Skeletor is more like 2002's version or Christopher Lee's Dracula.

The 2002 version was not deadly serious. Also, there was so much goofiness going on with the henchmen that he had to be the straight man in a lot of scenes.

Frank Langlla legit loved playing Skeletor and considers it one of his favourite roles.

They should give him a part in the remake movie in some capacity.

Compared to the original he was, with all the glowy eyes and face melting and being legit threatening. But yeah, I have to agree with the henchman goofiness taking the edge off save the moments like when he got his face fixed.

Fuck, give him the damn role again and let it rock.

I would but he’s not getting any younger but I’m sure he could do a voice or something.

Any ideas for a new Skeletor actor.

Anyone. Get a stunt actor, give him the suit, then CGI the skull and only the skull. Get Langella to do the voice.

Yes, this is the best choice.

Is Alan Oppenheimer still alive?

>get pic related from super 7
>has a spring loaded waist
>keep annoying my dad and cat by having skeletor punch them
Best 25$ ive ever spent

>not putting Skeletor in the He-Man movie before introducing him in a proper solo movie

seems like Sony learned from WBs mistakes

I hate that shit.

What's the best MOTU/He-Man stuff to get into as a beginner? Is there any straight up great stuff?

I`d love that.

I think it was called Beastmaster 2.

the 200X series, also the He-Man/Thundercats crossover

Why not make the skull an animatronic mask? I hate the reliance on CGI when practical effects would look better

Because in this case a CGI face would most definitely be better.

How? What couldnt they do with a animatronic mask that they can do with CGI?

You are absolutely correct there.
There's also zero chance they go for either of those options.

Wider array of facial expressions. Skeletor's skull is rather expressive. As long as they don't overdo it, CGI would work better there.
For most other shit, I would definitely go practical effects. Overuse of CGI is fucking cancer.

So they're taking a page out of the Hasbro playbook.

as long as this thing appears somewhere in it and it walks just like how the toy did i'll be happy

Herman

>not caring about stinkor, scareglow, roboto, man e faces, two bad, or spikor appearing

oh i want them to appear as well hell i want the final battle to be like thos old mattel posters that advertise all the characters you could buy

My nigga you literally have not watched the original MOTU, the cartoon remake or the live action. Skeletor is a meme machine but he also unironically is cool as hell because he's just a well designed skeleton muscle wizard that takes no shit and is pretty witty for a saturday morning blowhard.

youtube.com/watch?v=mNz6eHfsESQ
youtube.com/watch?v=Tk2yuCc5c-I

And as other anons have said, Skeletor was a joke at times, but it was his henchmen who were portrayed as idiots.

youtube.com/watch?v=W4pfZzck-GQ

Remember when Geoff Johns inserted his OC into the mythos?

>creators cannot create characters and must use the exact same characters over and over again

Toyguru did that too, even worse it took over a spot in the line that couldve been a figure people actually wanted instead of their OC shit.
