All this year I'll be posting Punisher comics. Most of them will be from the pre-Ennis era, but some will be from the Ennis era. Expect at least 1 storytime per week.
Yesterday I posted an utterly ludicrously underrated Punisher miniseries written by Jim Starlin with art by Tom Grindberg, titled "The Ghosts of Innocents". It's about The Punisher taking on The Kingpin's organization and it features some INCREDIBLE action scenes including a rampage through The Kingpin's tower, which is among my favorite sequences ever in any Punisher comic. It is absolute 10/10 material and you should go read it right now in this thread: The day before that there was a great Bond-esque mystery-adventure story called The Prize, which you can still read here: And the day before THAT I posted Die Hard in the Big Easy, the story of The Punisher in New Orleans vs. some voodoo witch doctor gangsters. You can read that one over here: Today we're reading the story of The Punisher teaming up with a drug trafficker's son to rescue his friends from his father. It's a pretty nice story, but the most notable thing about it? It's written by the original creator of The Punisher, Gerry Conway. This is one of just (if I'm not mistaken) 3 Punisher stories that Conway ever did (1st appearance, this, and an AWFUL Punisher Annual from 2016 that is best forgotten). There would have been another -- a retelling of The Punisher's 1st appearance from the perspective of The Punisher, originally intended to be published in the mid-90s -- but it was cancelled. Plus we've also got art by the legendary Dave Cockrum! Overall a pretty old school action-adventure story with an old school creative team to match. Let's check it out!
I'm not in love with this Frank design. It's either that his face is off or he's too small.
Thanks for the storytime, btw

poll time, what is your favorite Frank origin story variant? 1) Stumbled upon a mob hit 2) Crossfire of a mob shootout 3) Targeted for revenge by the mob
Matthew Morales
I think the original/classic works best.
Ryder Perry
>All this seemingly infinite Punisher kino.
Based.
Christian Perez
Is that even a real gun? Or did they just draw "generic gun-shaped thing" on the cover?
Brayden Howard
>black male white female couple >frank is cucking the husband >"le america were the bad guys in vietnam maymay"
why even write shit like this unless you have an agenda
Matthew Clark
So he was fucking the guy's wife in Vietnam?
Jack Nelson
OH SHI-
So this is one of his earliest times out as The Punisher?
Is this the only 70s Punisher story ever published?
Easton Garcia
Well that's the end of that guy.

2. It's the most random of them all. I know Frank's being intentionally targeted has been used before, but it just never really works for me. There's something universal about losing it all when you just happen to be about your day and tragedy strikes. I'm all for reinterpretation, but the praises the changes made for the show has especially in that regard has left baffled. I've seen some comments attempt some contrivance to say it works just as well. He can still be The Punisher regardless.
Nathaniel Perez
>kills them with forks
This has to be one of the most ridiculous kills ever in a Punisher comic.
Liam Perez
>The MBA Gyrojet pistol fires a 12mm rocket projectile instead of a conventional cartridge.
That is so ridiculous.
Adam Myers
I hate how comics still think everything explodes after it crashes like in hollywood movies.
Jackson Moore

Jayden Sullivan

Jayden Torres

Jaxon Cox

Blake Adams

Adrian Turner
>jaguar growl has a question mark
I'm laughing at this and I have no idea why
Evan Brooks
hardcore ending
Nathaniel Clark
Is The Punisher the only character where the person that created them is basically irrelevant in terms of writers on that character?
Gabriel Foster
Maybe it's the gun nerd in me, but I just can't see Frank using something as impractical as an AutoMag as a primary concealed carry firearm (the unique ammunition alone would make it very easy to trace). Then again, there was a time when the AutoMag was showing up in all sorts of print and broadcast media (I remember it was the handgun of choice for DC Comics' Warlord).
Jaxson Robinson
>that cheeky wee smile

Yeah, the random act of violence by criminals leaves the window open for what the Punisher does as a vigilante. Having Frank getting targeted by the gubmint only gives him one enemy, and barely any reason at all to go out punishing criminals on the regular. Literally all he has in season two is Jigsaw, which I'm afraid will pigeonhole Frank into only killing big bads and not actually waging a war on crime, which is where he works best. I don't really have high hopes for Netflix Punisher, which is a shame because in Daredevil he was great and showed a lot of promise. Netflix in general really fucking dropped the ball after DD season one. It fucking sucks because this is literally the best format for live action capeshit and it's being squandered on lack luster shows that cater to normalfags over actual fans of the characters.
