>U.S. blacklists four leaders of al-Nusrah Front group
The United States on Thursday slapped sanctions on four key leaders of al-Nusrah Front, in an effort to disrupt operations of the terrorist organization in Syria.
The four leaders are Abdallah Muhammad Bin-Sulayman al-Muhaysini, Jamal Husayn Zayniyah, Abdul Jashari, and Ashraf Ahmad Fari al-Allak, according to a statement issued by the Treasury Department.
As a result of the action, all property and interests in property of the designated individuals subject to U.S. jurisdiction are blocked, and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from engaging in transactions with them.
"From recruiting fighters to raising funds, these sanctioned individuals are responsible for providing key financial and logistical support to al-Nusrah Front," said John Smith, an official of the Treasury Department. "Treasury will continue to target al-Nusrah Front's financial networks and choke off their access to the international financial system."
Also on Thursday, the State Department amended the designation of al-Nusrah Front as a terrorist group to add new aliases, most notably, Jabhat Fath al Sham.
In July 2016, Abu Muhammed al-Jawlani, the leader of al-Nusrah Front, announced his group would henceforth be known as Jabhat Fath al Sham.
"Whether it calls itself Jabhat Fath al Sham or al-Nusrah Front, the group remains al-Qa'ida's affiliate in Syria," the State Department said in a statement.
>How do you think Trump's pesidency will affect the war?
The honest answer is that we don't really know. He's never given an explicit answer for this. But if Hillary had won, her first act of being in office would have been to start bombing Assad. She said so herself. So no matter what, the worst-case scenario has already been averted.

>Syrian Kurds hope for recognition of federalism from new US president
Sinam Mohammad, the European Representative of the Rojava autonomous democratic administration, the de-facto government running Kurdish-held northern Syria, told ARA News that the Syrian Kurds hope to get more support from the newly elected US President Donald Trump.
“We congratulate the American people with the new president. We hope President Trump can play a positive role to end the war and bloodshed in Syria,” she said.
Also PYD co-head Salih Muslim on Thursday congratulated Trump.
“We congratulate the American people on the election of their new president Donald Trump. We hope for closer cooperation for a safe Syria,” he said.
In an interview with ARA News, the Rojava representative in Europe Sinam Mohammad said the Kurds want more support and recognition for federalism.
“We, as Kurds in Syria, we hope that the policy of the USA with the new president will give more positive support to the Kurds through recognizing their right to build a federal system for Rojava and northern Syria,” she said.
“To support Kurds in Rojava economically and politically as they are defeating ISIS in the region. Rojava needs support in development and construction for cities destroyed by ISIS, such as Kobane,” she added.
She also expressed hope that President Trump would help to stop Turkish interference in Syria and to support the self-administration system in Rojava.
“To support the democratic system that depends on co-existence and peace in living together among all the components in the region. And as for Syria , we hope that he can play a better role to put an end to the war and blood shed in all Syria and to help seriously to get rid of terrorist groups and to stop Turkey from threatening and interfering in Syria and Rojava,” she concluded.

>MoD: Russia to keep staging ‘humanitarian pauses’ in Aleppo but won’t let terrorists take advantage
The Russian military will continue staging ‘humanitarian pauses’ in the Syrian city of Aleppo, but their length won’t be increased. Otherwise terrorists would use them to restore their own battle capabilities, Russia’s defense ministry said.
“The ‘humanitarian pauses’ aren’t being introduced overnight. The UN representatives are being informed in advance of their date and time, the placement of humanitarian corridors to be used by civilians and withdrawing militants, the security measures, the number of available buses, ER vehicles, hot food stalls,” he said.
The UN defines a ‘humanitarian pause’ as “a cessation of hostilities negotiated purely for humanitarian purposes.”
Russia halted its air strikes in Aleppo, which remains split between the Syrian government forces and the terrorists, on October 18, and has been regularly organizing 10-hour “humanitarian pauses” in the city.
>Obama directs Pentagon to target al-Qaeda affiliate in Syria, one of the most formidable forces fighting Assad
>The move underlines the extent to which Obama has come to prioritize the counterterrorism mission in Syria over efforts to pressure President Bashar al-Assad to step aside, as al-Nusra is among the most effective forces battling the Syrian government.

I really have a deep respect for the Syrian army under Assad. These brave men fight tooth and nail against savages who want to wipe them off the map, savages with funding from superpowers. And still they don't flee to Europe.
It's a shame these heroes aren't recognized.

Mimi is a sunni though, so is most of SAA, and most of the population of government held Syria who mostly support Assad. Fueling the sectarian rhetoric doesn't help matters, which is why this takfiri stokes those fires for his saudi masters.

> How Will Trump Reshape the Middle East?
Trump has said that the Iraq and Libya interventions were a mistake, and that he would prefer to leave Bashar al-Assad alone in Damascus. He has also repeatedly urged that the United States collaborate with the Russian Federation against ISIL in Syria. If he follows through on these sentiments, then he could pull CIA support for the 30 or so “vetted” rebel militias it now supports in Syria, who are trying to overthrow the Baath regime of Assad.
Many of these Syrian militias are fundamentalist in character, and some have occasionally formed battlefield alliances of convenience with the Al Qaeda affiliate in Syria, which now styles itself the Levantine Conquest Front. The LCF is a prime target of Russian president Vladimir Putin (much more so than ISIL is), and Moscow tends to view all the fundamentalist rebel groups as “terrorists.” It is possible that the Trump administration will adopt this Russian definition and will turn on the vetted groups. Since the CIA allegedly uses Saudi Arabia for pass-through purposes in funding and supplying the fundamentalist rebels, any such abandonment of them by Trump is certain to create frictions with Riyadh.
The Saudi monarchy and its allies in the Gulf Cooperation Council will view a Trump administration capitulation to Putin in Syria and a hands-off policy toward Damascus as, de facto, acquiescence in Iranian dominance of Syria and Lebanon. Turkey’s increasingly authoritarian president Recep Tayyip Erdogan, who supports the fundamentalist militias in Syria as well, will also feel left in the lurch by a Trump-Putin sweetheart deal over Syria. For the moment, however, he appears to have backed off his earlier threat to deny the Trump administration access to the Incirlik air base

it is not bad but the way words were used there seem more like praise to me (the title)
from the article
“The president doesn’t want this group to be what inherits the country if Assad ever does fall,” a senior U.S. official said. “This cannot be the viable Syrian opposition. It’s al-Qaeda.”
Officials said the administration’s hope is that more-moderate rebel factions will be able to gain ground as both Islamic State and al-Nusra come under increased military pressure.
I wonder why obongo only did this after trump won... seems like he is getting the ground for him... like the change won't be more drastic. Untill trump gets in full power, I think we will see a more usa-russia better approach over terrorists.

it depends. unfortunately. it depends on whether you as a country have signed up to the international agreements - e.g. european human rights law makes this illegal for european states who have signed up to the convention - however, this did not prevent MI6 from colluding with qadaffi and having him torture people on their behalf. I'm not sure about america, but I am assuming, given the existence of rendition and guantanamo bay ( some of the things that birthed terrorism or at least acted as midwife) I would be quite surprised if they handed over people they didn't like as opposed to just torturing them themselves.
in other cases people who are terrorists are never tortured or even arrested, but given asylum instead.

I hope every american soldier deployed in the greater arabian theater dies.
They have no bussniess beeing there and their pressence has not only caused the immigration flood and the ISIS backlash against white peopulations in europe and USA. But have a DUTY to REFUSE ILLEGAL orders to BREAK INTERNATIONAL LAW and INVADE other countries WITHOUT even declaring war on them.
You remember the little girl on the france street? Bataclan? It was these american soliders who motivated these attacks. If they had had the courrage to say "no" to their psychopathic commanders, none of that would be happening.
But for the moral failings of few. The white populations of Europe and USA have to suffer.
Death to american soldiers!
