I agree that it seems a bit cheap for them to 'kill' off another character, just so Jaune can develop again(and for Ruby to activate her silver eyes by accident seeing Jaune in danger, only for her to get K.O.). Pyrrha should've been enough. He could've unlocked his semblance in vol. 4 when he was fighting the Grimm monster, but this show does love it's cliffhangers and 'drama'.
