Why all the hate? He was always gay as fuck

Why all the hate? He was always gay as fuck

because baby boomers remember him and thus he's easy hits on outrage articles for and by people that dont read comics but really want to pretend they're the "real fans"

Personally I'm very excited for this book. Anybody who cares about fucking snagglepuss' sexuality in 2018 is actually autistic. I'm hoping for a good story and if his sexuality is a part of that, I'm okay with it.

Who's hating? Not here.

This actually got me to finally read Tennesee Williams.

Hate? I thought people love progressiveness as today.

Anything less than 100% compliance is literally hitler you alt-right, klansman, russian hacker, christian, republican, yt, Sup Forumstard!

Sup Forumstards can't handle seeing gay stuff in anything.

...

>when you're so insecure you need to falseflag in order to contribute to a thread

Even in the lisping pink maneless (implying incredibly low testosterone in his species) lion.

You're my best friend on Sup Forums.

>falseflag
I knew I forgot something.
>contribute to a thread
I'm mocking OP, that's the best contribution anyone can make to any thread. It's settled science, sister.

What’s the name of that webcomic? I hate that we couldn’t have threads for it and I forgot to keep up with it.

So is the book just about him being gay and how gay he is, or is it going to be something actually interesting?

It's not out until next week so we don't know, but writer is the guy behind Flintstones and Prez. Two very good books that looked terrible before they came out.

I'm actually kinda okay with it. I mean, it's not like it's a permanent change to the character, it's just used as an opurtunity for a good story. I don't think it's being done for only"diversity". I has a more noble meaning about how ostracized writers were in that time period for being "Commies" or whatnot. I think it'll be good. It's diverse and "progressive" but not cancerously so. It's well written from what I've seen, so it's not like shit from Marvel. I can't really complain about this. Most of my criticisms have been met. I might actually buy this.

It's not released yet, is it?

Dreaming of Utopia

It's going to be about the fifties, McCarthyism, being a closeted gay man and playwriting.

...

yeah, faggotry wherever it makes sense is okay to me.

he's a cougar actually

>furfaggotry is ok so long as it's straight

mods on suicide watch

I'm semi-excited for it. I loved the Flintstones. The rest of the reboots were decent to trash.

>it's a progressives interpret the past through an early 21st century perspective episode
Don't give me any of that "queer-coded" business either.

Every thread there's always some closeted guy that shows up to defend other formerly closeted fictional characters.
Want ya dick sucked, bro?

Yup, basically. Sup Forums and their like can't handle massive gay stereotype as actually being gay. They're that fucking fragile.

It's called exit stage left for a reason, you know.

...

Did I mistakenly stumble into u18's /gc/ board?

snagglepus was always gay...I mean the cowardly lion was suppose to be gay wasn't he?

...

I'm only mad he's kissing a human. It's just weird to me.

I just realized he's not wearing pants.
This book is going to be a ride.

Mate the only people who are mad are filthy nonreader outragefags.
Sup Forums fucking adored Flintstones and Prez
This is no different from your usual Elseworld

Sup Forumsmblr did, yes. Other people have no reason to read agitprop.

They are afraid it's contagious and they will loose themselves.
(Like they would care post factum)

That place is no fun

This.
I can get people getting up in arms about drastically changing established characters for easy gets, but come on, it's fucking Snagglepuss.

That and everything we've seen so far looks amazing.

>Not liking Flintstones

I thought Sup Forums was gay as hell.

I hate that. Something just seems so off about the way its drawn. The mouths don't seem to line up right, Snagglepuss hands need to be more paw like and those fucking tufts of ear hair.

gay republicans exist and boy do they hate gays that aren't masc4masc

only the most muscular of rentboys will do

pretty much this.

PC culture/tumblr/SJWs/etc. have seriously traumatized people.

For a second I got scared that they would make pink panther gay but then I noticed it was actually snagglepuss so I don't give a fuck

>when you're a gay Republican who likes them femme and faggy as hell
Is it so wrong to want a lisping, mincing bottom with the fun kind of daddy issues?

Anyone willing to dump any comics, for arguments sake?

...

So because of the way he talks they just made him gay?

They actually address her in the preview released a few months ago. She's his beard.

I like you.

THE CRRRRRRRREST ON BIRDMAN'S HELMET

same writer as The Flintstones, so it will probably have a wide scope

Hmm, Cole/Linda Porter situation perhaps? Could be interesting.

>He was always gay as fuck

No, he wasn't, you tumblr faggot. He had manerisms that people projeted homosexuality onto long after his popularity.

Listen to his voice and tell me that is not a fag talking.
You could, but you'd be lion.

user, he is LITERALLY a pink cat. A pussy. I understand when they make straight characters gay like Bobby Drake, but this one is not even worth a fight.

He's based on the cowardly lion. I don't think when he was created in 1959 Hanna-Barbera meant for him to be a gay archetype.

The cowardly lion is gay as shit too though.
Sure they couldn't brand him as gay back then, if you were gay you could still be arrested just for faggin it up back then.
But that doesn't just mean gay people weren't there just because they weren't so openly discussed.

>Sure they couldn't brand him as gay back then,

Because they never meant for him to be one? Not evey sissy is a faggot, user.

He wasn't based on the Cowardly Lion; Daws Butler simply did a Bert Lahr impression then modified it with a lisp and melodramatic speech pattern.

ill probably check it out in the winothread

>Anybody who cares about fucking snagglepuss' sexuality in 2018 is actually autistic
And yet they cared enough to make him gay. Are you saying we shouldn't read this autistic shit?

I disagree my friend, maybe not every sissy is a fag, but this low-test pink pussy with a lisp has always been one

there is nothing purer than two anthropomorphic animals (gay) kissing.

Only outrage autists who don't even read comics in the first place hate this. Personally I'm pretty hype.

>Why all the hate?
There was hate?
I though everyone was indifferent to this shit.

Furries were mad at the 8 page backup because they couldn't jack off to Porter art

not really a furry, but it just looks so off putting when he draws animals.

Every single Looney Tunes comic has been gold and I see no reason this will be different. Plus he's literally just a furry Tennessee Williams so of course he'll be gay.

Please point me to all this hate ?

Rather, nobody can bother with yet another character defined purely by his sexuality and thus OP needs to try and drum up some attention for this comic by faking controversy.

Sup Forums is pretty stereotypical when it comes to gays.

>It’s 1953. While the United States is locked in a nuclear arms race with the Soviet Union, the gay Southern playwright known as Snagglepuss is the toast of Broadway. But success has made him a target. As he plans for his next hit play, Snagglepuss becomes the focus of the House Committee on Un-American Activities. And when powerful forces align to purge show business of its most subversive voices, no one is safe!

Sounds funnier than anything in those awful Snagglepuss cartoons

>yet another character defined purely by his sexuality
but that's not what it's about

>make him gay
are you trying to say whenever they were designing snagglepuss they were thinking 'this character is heterosexual'? Grow the fuck up, he never had a sexuality, all they did was add to his character without changing anything.

Does Snagglepuss really have a 'world' to expand on and make interesting with it's unique setting and timeframe in order to further it's characters and storyline? I mean Flintstones was a slam dunk with the established mythos, characters, and time period so unique there just couldn't be another comic book like it, anywhere. Even if you'd left out the social commentary entirely it would be entertaining simply based on the strengths of it's characters and world. Does Snagglepuss really have that?

See this shit is why people are so resistant to reinventing established properties, even people who don't fuck it up the first time will inevitably get too high off it and fuck it up.

how is that fucking it up? As you say, what is there to fuck up?

Does ANYTHING really have a 'world' to expand on?

>how is that fucking it up?

Read a single goddamn line of any of that and tell me for one second that fits in any way shape or form with anything at all "Snagglepuss". Literally anything. Of course not, even the most basic of elements like him fighting with the hunter or trying to leave his cavern aren't mentioned. Why? There's nothing to expand on, the writer isn't even using the most basic of elements to expand on what little world there was and create something different. Shit, if he'd incorporated the laugh-a-lypics it would flesh out the world more. Lots of Hannah Barbara cartoons have really fucking weird worlds they inhabit. There's a lot to make an interesting story that couldn't be told with any other properties. This? This is literally just slapping an unrelated name onto a typical story in the vein of Milk or whatever and hoping for it to gain traction that way, it's everything wrong with reinventions that people are right to criticize. If there is no real 'character' you're carrying over, with the lisp speaking goobly mouthed little monster, if his setup and at least somewhat different cast aren't really worth carrying in, if nothing else has anything to do with snagglepuss, then why the fuck are you making a comic book about a pink furry Tennessee Williams?

Everything Flintstones did right with reinvention, this does wrong.

Besides Flintstones? Jetsons? Shit, Funky Phantom's world is goddamn insane. Jabberjaw would make as much sense here.

>Snagglepuss is just Tennessee Williams

I mean yeah.

Ok.

>the hunter
Joe McCarthy
>trying to leave his cavern
he's in the closet

you just didn't ~*get it*~

Snagglepuss was always a gay stereotype anyways.

fucking this

He was a friend of Dorothy's, after all.

>Joe McCarthy

The fucker's name was Major Minor. At least tell me they call the JM standin by that name.

>he's in the closet
That is stretching so far the international space station can see it's dick.

do you not understand metaphor? Must everything be literal with you?

I wouldn't be surprised if Major Minor is on Snagglepuss's panel or whatever.

>do you not understand metaphor?
Oh well since you said 'no no this thing is a representation of this other thing that could easily apply to innumerable other events stretching from depression to being stuck with your finger in a door' I guess that means this really did need Snagglepuss, who else could this metaphor have fit, really?

>I wouldn't be surprised if Major Minor is on Snagglepuss's panel or whatever.
That's not what I asked for, tell me he's not actually fighting Joe McCarthy and instead a standin, anyone from his goofy ass 'rogues' with at least the name slapped on.

look, user, the comic isn't out yet. All we know is that Snagglepuss is closeted gay, a playwright, has a bear, and he's going to get brought before the Un-American Activities Committee

also he kisses a human at some point

Getting antsy about it not apparently following your exacting standards in the pre-release stage is pointless, since you know exactly as much as we do. But since Mark Russell has always delivered a good product, there is no reason to think Exit Stage Left won't also be good.

OP has yet to point out any source of 'all the hate', just another shitty attempt at raising awareness of something that had generated zero interest.

I really need to get into Flintstones. Heard it was better than it had a right to be.

What about the rest of that shared universe that people were talking about, did it ever take off? I was considering getting into Johnny Quest when it dropped.

It's not a shared universe, just a bunch of Hanna-Barbera adaptations. Some worked, some didn't. Future Quest was decent, but so far the real stars have been Flintstones and Dastardly and Muttley.

I always thought he was more of a flamboyant sissy not full on gay but people always parody him as gay.

Yes, they did.
>While gay-pride and gay-rights activists and folklorists will like to use Snagglepuss as a gay icon because of his lavender fur colour, his lisping speech and his fondness for the theatrical, Joseph Barbera was once quoted as denying the likelihood, insisting that the character (and voice) were modelled on Bert Lahr (adding that Lahr "once beat up on his wife!").

>there were at least two episodes involving a would-be girlfriend, Lila, who rejected Snagglepuss as too boorish.

Is that Sterling?

Sterling, is that you? Oh I always knew there was something wrong with you. Oh, not that you're gay, that's fine, but a furry? Christ, where did it all go so wrong?

Looks too hispanic

Porn when?

What the hell was the preview issue about? I was as confused as Augie was at the end of it.

Its too easy.

Like making Batman and Robin canon-gay
