When does a unique artstyle stop being an excuse?

When does a unique artstyle stop being an excuse?

When you personally don't like it.

The end.

In my opinion, when it's not consistent and stretches the anatomy too far from its own "realism".

neck day is every day

There is no way in hell this is real.

>when it's not consistent
This. Ramos people are constantly shapeshifting.

When you're able to compare people to geological landmarks. In this case, a volcano.

Not even his worst drawing. The guy is the fucking worst.

Ask again whenever Americans grow out of realism.

Like having tiny t-rex arms for instance.

JESUS CHRIST someone was paid to draw this and then got it published?

Why were Ramos' inks so baller in Transmetropolitan?

Why does his expressionism work so well when coupled with someone like Robertson's eye for detail, but on their own they fall flat? I for one think his work on Spider-Man was fine.

That's Rodney Ramos, man. The OP is Humberto Ramos.

Ah. So it's that I'm racist. Dang.

Nah I did a double take myself the first time I saw the name Ramos in the credits.
Had to be sure.
I don't think his spider-man work was okay though, unlike you.

Was this a “worse than Leifeld “contest?

What do you mean, an excuse?
For what?

20 years in the future when people's taste have changed.

#NotMyWolverine

Trump?

Why do people give Ramos shit for bad anatomy but never to Chris Bachalo? They always seemed like they are cut from the same cloth.
Also, Bachalo cannot into action, his action scenes are lifeless and at times indicipherable

iknorite...headliner artist.

Transmetropolitan is awesome in general and indigo had some awesome editors and creative direction.

I've gotten around to reading his Marvel work, and can't believe that it's the same guy who did most of the art for Shade, the Changing Man

Bachalo has his moments, but Ramos is ALWAYS bad.
I agree that his action scenes are bad

Ramos gets put onto more things that casuals who expect house style read. His runs are usually longer, too.

Bachalo was in Gen X and I remember him in Messiah Complex and recently the Bendis run.

I think he is pretty good and nothing like Ramos. He is currently in Spiderman /Deadpool.

In the 90s he was particularly good IN COMPARISON to the typical Liefeld inspired stuff, and he is still good. Cassaday who was very good in Whedon's Astonishing now draws horribly, as if he had lost a hand or something.

Liefeld is not bad.

Yes, i know the Cap America cover but despite that he is way better than Ramos and a lot of other Big Two artist even though he doesnt know how to draw feet

There was a time when both Ramos and Bachalo were drawing adjectiveless x-men, and seemed to be trying to ape each other to make the run look similar. Bachalo was less exaggerated than Ramos, but both were trending towards that stretchy style.

It's mostly a underage thing. At least it was with me. Oh, and congrats on being born somewhere, good work.

Fuck, Howard Chakin is shit.

This is also Bachalo from X-men 188

You must be new.

Agreed I legitimately enjoyed my re-read of x_force. So much enthusiasm.

sexy sameface women

>Howard Chakin is shit.

He became shit, he was amazing in the 80's and early 90's.

...

Mine is close to this. Basically when it's not intended. Like the artist can't draw otherwise.

there are many worse than him in that regard.
here one is supposed to be racially british and the other japanese.
Bachalo's Jubilee at least kinda looked Asian.

I think most artists draw Japanese Psylocke as a European. Very few artists have drawn her with epicanthic fold. I think Remender's X-Force had some issues with a very Asian looking Psylocke.

Bladesteel reporting in

Fucking this. Chaykin used to be a god but a switch to sloppy, think linework and a glut of mediocre colorists have mandaged to make everything he turns out these days look like total ass.

>shattershade
could be worse?

>Overshot
>Also my porn name

Seriously. What is happening with those hands in the lower left panel?

I feel like this would look a little better if his mask wasn't so small.

>Shadeshade
Bullshit.

Is he just happy to see us

When it fails at sequential art.

Anyone got that edit?

Mount Bubmore

...

WHAT THE FUCK

>getting rid of him squinting
For what purpose?

Thanks.

I usually defend more unusual, even ridiculous artstyles if it fits the story, but Ramos is one that usually pisses me off because he goes from great to shit almost between pages.

Adamantium, not even once.

Doomblade!! I feel so powerful!

I'm guessing the person got rid of it since it doesn't read too well as squinting. Maybe if Ramos has made the eyes that thin but wider? The the person editing probably didn't realize that this is what Wolverine was most likely doing, or though that was good enough.

This. I'll with with ugly or crazy once in awhile as long as there is some sort of coonsistency I can figure out.

No, now you look like batman

Crowrazor
ow the edge

Anybody have the mountain or rotating head edits?

gunstrike
i like it

Fuck, I actually lol'd at this.

tfw like Yuasa's style

This is probably the most accurate answer. I can't stand Ramos' art because he's depicting characters and events that are supposed to have realistic physical consequences, yet it feels way too cartoonish for it to feel that way.

>Liefeld is not bad.
Just watching that one video of Stan Lee tearing him apart easily refutes that.

Bladerun
>gets sued

Go back to your Janin posershite, faggot.

That's squinting?
