Millennials, and Gen Z

>Born in 1997
>Turning 20 soon
>Have been using a computer since I was 6
>Grew up through literally everything a Gen Z grew up in
>Those that didn't have access to the internet in my generation turned out like other millennials
>Slight schism of generation from person to person
>Those that grew up with it (such as myself) are probably the oldest of Gen Z
>Had immense pressure to get into social media when I was in middle-school, but never did it and instead have been browsing Sup Forums since I was 13

What generation do people born in the late 90s/early 2000s fall into?

I can't really say with certainty that they can be classed as millennials. I've noticed in high-school my freshman year that was a clear distinction between myself and those that were 4 years older than me. They were using flip phones, and some were technologically illiterate in comparison to myself. They all looked older than most of the people I grew up around as they were constantly outside. Their skin sloughed off of their faces when they were only 18. I believe we'd grown in different environments by sheer virtue of time.

My sister is very much a millennial, and she was born in 94. She's very liberal, but I've learned so much about the world through constant internet access, so my views are different.

What does Sup Forums think?

Anybody born between 1980 and 2000 is millennial

>born in 1997
>turning 20 soon
How? I was born in 97 and am only about to turn 19

NO ITS NOT TRUE IM NOT ONE OF THEM I CANT BE IM NOT NOOOOOOOOO!

You know what is between your ears?

Is cause your gay

I'm 33 years old and sometimes I get lumped in with the "millennial" group. I don't get it. I thought I was Gen X.

Do you behave like an overstimulated retard?

January 5th is my birthday

If you don't remember 9/11 then you're a centennial. '96, I'm the first of generation Zyklon.

It's not true though.
That's a very crass generalization.

People born in 1985 had a radically different environment in comparison to those born in the late 90s.

Millennial but us outliers get the worst of both Millennials and Gen Z or whatever bullshit.
>96, I'm the first of generation Zyklon.
Please explain

I was 5 when 9/11 happened, and I remember watching it on TV and thinking "COOL"

>m-m-muh generalisations

People might have caught you acting in a manner that is associated with them.

It's completely true though. Your average person born in the 80s likely didn't have access to the internet until they were in their teens.

>the internet before eternal september
Woah duuude

>What generation do people born in the late 90s/early 2000s fall into?

Faggot generation

I don't really even know what that is.
Usenet was starting to die by the time I got on the internet.

>Usenet was starting to die by the time I got on the internet.
I never got to experience the early days of the internet
>tfw millennial that probably knows more about that shit than anyone my age anyway
;__;

>97 doesn't know what eternal september is

sounds about right

It's funny because i'm a year younger and know what its about.

>You will never be a part of Gen Z
>You're too old to even argue that you are

This "millennial" stuff is a meme. Noone's life is the same as it was in 1980.

Fuck you

Don't you have a Youtube video to comment on?

Don't you have a "I WAS BORN IN THE WRONG GENERATION" to write; you cunt?

Everything is a meme

I remember i told me mom it was "no big deal" because stuff like the holocaust and ww2 had way more casualties, its what happens when you watched too much history channel as a 5 year old

No, Millinials are the ones that had their coming of age around the new millennium.

Generation Y (Millennials)
Born: 1977-1994
Coming of Age: 1998-2006

Generation Z
Born: 1995-2012
Coming of Age: 2013-2020
Age in 2004: 0-9

KEK. I think of that everytime there is a conversation about about generations. I cringe at myself.

Generation Zombie

Nice trips, but I don't know if I can say you're far off from the truth.

I can't name more than 3 streets in the neighborhood I've grown up in.

>tfw born in 1993

why do i have to be in the shittiest generation

Can't be any worse then our fellow faggots that stare at a tiny screen all day.

The older Millennials (the ones born in late 70s or early 80s) that have parents from the Silent Generation (even early Baby boomers) are usually way more conservatives than the little faggots born during the 90s from Yuppies or Gen X parents,

As for Gen Z, they seems to be way more conservative than late Millennials, most likely because they didn't entirely passed through the social marxism indoctrination machine.

Well according to the years you had for Generation Y and Z i'm apart of Gen Z.
>As for Gen Z, they seems to be way more conservative
It couldn't seem further from reality.

They are. The ones in the USA are getting beaten up because they voted for Trump during fake school elections, they are also chanting for a wall etc.

Technically, the mid-to-late 80s people are the true millenials, but the term has been usurped by the absolute cancer that is the babbies afterwards.

t. 1986 baby

I have high hopes for you Gen Z people, you're the ones who should be burning this world down. You've seen some of the worst corruption and stupidity this world has to offer, and your most impressionable years were molded by terrorism and recession.

Take care of the slimes, we will teach you with our ancient pre-internet arcane secrets

where my 98 fags at?

I was born in the early 60's.

You're all slackers as far as we're concerned.

Young people are such faggots.

What are you doing here, gramps? It's 22:34. Aren't you supposed to be in bed? That shit's is funny, since i have elder sisters and brothers in their 50s

Go back to your looming social security, gramps

If it weren't for your generation being the prototypes for our current entitled children, things could've been different. You just had to pretend everything was yours.

I was born in 87. The internet wasn't a mainstream thing until I was about 13. I also remember a time when landline phones were the dominant forms of communication. The first system I owned was an NES.

When I was a child I would play outside with my friends almost every fucking day, because we weren't sucked in by the internet and flashy videogames etc. Most of those guys are still my bros. Nowadays you never really see kids playing outside, or if you do it's only 1 or 2, not the entire neighborhood. Anyway, what I'm trying to get at is I feel very far removed from Millenials who grew up with literally the world at their fingertips. They're a bunch of crybabies who need to be coddled at every opportunity, and can't face up to the harsh realities of life. Obviously this is a generalization and doesn't cover the entire spectrum of post 95/96 millenials, but it's what I've experienced meeting all these young retarded faggots in the workplace, at bars, etc.

tl:dr If you're born in the mid to late 90s piss off. The millenial generation should be split. Pre-technology millenials and post technology.

This is true we are witnessing millennials in the spotlight but gen z's time is to come soon.

>people who are born in 97 browse Sup Forums

holly hell I'm getting old. I was a wee lad at the age of 16 when I first browsed this board around 2005.

>gen z
>born in a family where my dad was extremely conservative and christian
>didn't buy me new video game systems instead just bought me an old gameboy and a snes instead of what was new
>no hand outs in our house you want something you needed to work for it
>probation and parole agent for 25 years

Hey, cut me some slack. It’s hard to sleep when you have to pee 20 times a night.

Don’t confuse us with our older brothers and sisters. We’re the part of the baby boom that elected Reagan.

>Calling for a split in your generation

If you need a split, how can you say they're one in the same?

Sup Forums didn't exist in this form as you know it until 2011. If you were talking about this board as in Sup Forums, I've been here since 2006, when I graduated highschool.

Exactly the point of my post.

I don’t get why its so hard to understand?
Gen Y is 1980-1999 = Y = Millennials = Sup Forums
Generations usually cover gaps of 20 years (there are outliers). Gen Y started with the phenomenon of commonplace technology in universities and jobs (ex: Compuserve in the 1980’s up till mid 1990’s) however it didn’t become a household norm until the 2000’s (every fag having a phone/computer). To put in perspective, someone born in 1980 is still a borderline millennial. Being born in 1980 means you are only 13 years of age by 1993, in time for the election of Bill Clinton. Regular 13 year olds cannot vote, don’t have a wide range of political knowledge and most certainly don’t have global knowledge outside basic schooling simply due to the amount of years they’ve been alive (there are outliers). Even with modern internet speeding up this process, most kids cannot grasp onto adult material the way adults can simply due to experience alone. When we talk in terms of “childhood”, it is divided into baby, toddler (walking), early childhood, middle childhood and adolescence childhood (puberty-post puberty). Now most of you fuckers barely remember anything before age 8 so anything before toddler is eliminated. When people refer to their childhood, they usually mean school age aka early-middle childhood (kids aged 8-13) because in high school they become edgy faggots that call everything older than a year their “childhood”. That’s where “childhood is composed”. Just because you watched a couple 90's cartoons and played with some colorful springs as a 10 year old doesn't mean you aren’t a millennial. Unless you’re in your mid 30’s, which let’s be honest, most of you fags are in your 20’s +, you cannot start using millennial like it’s a term exceptionally made for a special group of people outside of Sup Forums and irl. Every single one of you faggot dick sniffers are Millennials.

Stomach cancer

He's right though. Those of us who became adults at or just after the turn of the millennium have a significantly different disposition and outlook than people even 5 years our younger. And the divide grows wider as the age difference increases.

I'm essentially saying you really can't call them millennials at all at that point. I'd say they're the next generation after millennials.

If you were born in '96 or later, you're part of Generation Z, the iGen, whatever it eventually gets called. You became adults in a post 9/11 world, and the internet has always been a big presence in your lives.

I was born in '85, making me one of the earlier Millennials. Growing up, VHS was common and CDs were new and expensive. I remember dial-up internet, DOS, Netscape web browser, and internet porn being postage stamp sized and only moving at a few frames a second.

You come from a very different world than I.

>Not being able to remember much before 8 years old

Maybe if you're some coddled and sheltered asshole. I'll only be 30 next year and I feel far removed from people 25 under.

Yet you can't say that someone born in 1997 has lived through the same world as someone born in 1980. At the year 2000, (the cut-off for Gen Z) they're 3 years old, and they likely won't remember a single thing prior to that year.

How can you label them the same as those before them when they're living through an entirely different habitat?

Who are they getting beat up by again? Oh right. The 30 people on the other side for every one of them. You're fuckin clueless man. Fiscal conservatism is one thing, but they're nowhere near conservative on social issues.

ofc 4chinz on general, I found this place due to habboraid, Witch regards to Sup Forums I remember it when it was /news/ or was it /new/? The old thread simulator/bleeding nose comic strip was my favorite. I wish people still created them instead of frogs&wojaks dominating this place.

And it is also very interesting how the political allignment change. I blame it due to demographics. New blood comes and old blood goes out after 1-2 years, only few autist like me stay.

I remember for example, when libertarianism was really "hip" and statist was used as if its a real insult. Never thought libertarians would be mocked here.

How fast the times change.

>I remember dial-up internet, DOS, Netscape web browser, and internet porn being postage stamp sized and only moving at a few frames a second.
>implying we don't aswell

That's what I was getting at when I said the generation should be split. Technology made a huge impact in a short amount of time. Pre-tech and post-tech millenials. Maybe there's a better way to convey this though.

If you were born in 97, the earliest you could feasibly start beating it is around 2007-2008. If you still had dial-up then I feel bad for you son.

They are getting beaten up by niggers and spics your cities are infested with.

I only remember dial-up because my family was dirt poor due to the recession.

Generations are a Jewish construct to create division amongst the goyim

>Pre-tech and post-tech millenials

They're not the same thing at all anymore though. Technology has made a huge impact.
The post-tech are in all actuality the start of Gen Z.

Who gives a fuck? We're talking about whether or not the majority is a conservative in the regular sense and no, they're not. They're closer to libertarians than conservative. If only Ron Paul had been born 10-15 years later he might have a real shot with this generation.

I remember...

... when the home computer revolution started. How the TRS-80 was the only computer you could buy retail

... when Microsoft was just another booth at the computer fair.

... before cable TV, before VCRs, before pagers and cell phones.

... When BBS's were the closest thing you could find to the internet.

... President Nixon

Yeah Sup Forums is the result of the /new/ disbandment as a board. I found out about this board from some autistic dude in my senior year in highschool. Times indeed change pretty quickly, I remember when Sup Forums was considered pretty based by almost every single other board, and when cockmongler and THE GAME were big memes. My favorite part of Sup Forums's saga was Project Chanology which was hilarious and cringey.

>before pagers and cell phones.
Mobile phones were a mistake.

Sup Forums was always shit. That's actually one of the oldest memes there is here.

>australian internet

Yeah, but people used it as a mantra of pride unlike now.

If you remember how shit the internet used to be you're a millennial.

Pagers were worse.

It used to be... you got off work and you were off work.

Your boss would never think of calling you during your off time because there was a clear separation between work time and off time.

And even if he did, you would just not answer the phone or someone would say you weren't home.

Then pagers came along, giving them a guaranteed way of letting you know they wanted you to call.

This morphed into the idea that they had a right to bother you outside of work with work problems.

It all went downhill from there.

There's also millennials who remember a time when the internet didn't even exist (as we know it today), and then there's millenials who never grew up without the internet. That's quite a divide for a single generation.

I think generations are just a meme after the Babby Boomers.

>Have been using a computer since I was 6

How is this an argument or relevant? Anybody born since the fucking 80s could have done this.

I have a sense that the very young generation (2000-2016) will grow to be hardcore fascist authoritarians in response to the cuckoldry of garbage Millennials.

Stop fucking asking.

You know you're old when you remember alt.binaries, and wish you could have archived it.

He's wearing a spoon around his wrist.

Unfortunately that will most likely never happen. If you think otherwise you are living in a fantasy world.

>t. butthurt '97 born fag

>generalizing entire decades of births based on generation

What makes people think that those born in 1983 have the same interests as those born in 1989

>born in 90
>been on Sup Forums since 04

AHHHHHHHH
AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

There's a reason for that pleb.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Strauss–Howe_generational_theory

It's funny, I was born in '96, but I wasn't allowed to use a computer until I was 13, so I literally JUST missed all of the good stuff on the internet like 2002-2008 (I don't even know when stuff on the internet was actually cool because I missed it.)

Am I millennial or gen z?

Born '88

I didn't have internet until my teens, I didn't have a cellphone til 24.

Never used social media.

Rather resent all this "millennial" bullshit honestly. Don't feel I have anything in common with a 20 year old.

>millennial
>born 1987
>witnessed 9/11 as a HS freshman
>am white, married white
>have two white kids
>associate degree, no debt
>50k/year job
>own my house
>own multiple guns

I have hope that conservatism grows through Gen Z because my generation is fucked. I chose to go to work out of HS, go to community college at night, land a job with decent benefits to raise a white conservative household.

Pic related. I still have a "don't talk about Sup Forums" rule IRL

>inb4 Chris Hansen, shoop da whoop, IMMA FIRIN MUH LAZER, pools closed, party van, over 9000

I was a last minute baby, born in 94. I grew up during the Bush era 2000s and came of age in the middle of the Obama years.

I can't fathom being a millennial, while my sister, born in 1980, is also considered a millennial. Can I join gen Z?

Doesn't really matter. All of us born in that decade are faggots anyway.

Gen z, sorry

87 here, and I didn't have internet until I was like 16, and only had a shitty not smart phone until I was about 24 or 25. I feel the exact same as you.

The real question is how do we stop the hispanics

'83 here. Share nearly all the same interests as my bro who's '88.

what the fuck. millennials can bend spoons

How about someone who was born in 95?

Why have generational differences at all if they're going to be primarily decided by seemingly arbitrary dates?

That's a very idiotic way of classifying generations.

I was born in '85 and I have nothing in common with millennials at all, I'm closer to gen x but still in limbo

So people born post-85 think they're Prophets and Heroes when they're really Artists.
