Why is Scott Kurtz such a fucking hack?

Why is Scott Kurtz such a fucking hack?

is pony tail guy going to make a point?

Screaming memories of the past. I had forgotten this existed. I don't remember it. Not enough to piece together anything. I used to read this. God I can only imagine how long ago. I don't want this. Remove this. I will not read more.

Several seconds of just staring at the characters thinking "That looks familiar somehow." Die.

That is his point.

He already did.

He coat tail rode to success. Now he's a rich fat white dude who thinks all white dudes are spoiled like him and are terrible people. His review of TLJ is pretty much YASSS QUEEN SLAAAY! and got incredibly butthurt at the backlash when he was told his opinion was retarded

is he outsourcing the art to korea now?

Luke Skywalker isn't good hero, he not even moral jedi.

Nigga can force choke someone.

Obi-Wan and Yoda endgame was to train the last hope, Luke
Meanwhile all Luke wanted was to die alone

desu TLJ reviews kind of disturbed me with this blind support of Holdo. Most sci-fi usually tells you to question authority, yet here we have people screaming out that "you should've followed orders!"

at the risk of totally derailing this thread, it was a (hamhanded) continuation of what Leia was telling him about being a hothead

Yeah, but it completely justified him being hotheaded. It undermined the whole thing of him being a firebrand who could endanger others.

>citing the prequels
Blow it out your ass. No one says those are good.

yeah, like, if your subordinate doesn't understand a crucial secret mission why not fucking tell him?

um, no. in the end he was wrong and without the whole casino bullshit and the mutiny, the resistance would have easily escaped detection to the salt planet (NotHoth)
He and Finn and Rose got everyone killed

Ponytail guy doesn't wear shades now?

If only he blindly followed orders, a core value of the Resistance/Rebellion.

Thank god the protagonists failed in every possible way and every mystery and plot hook from TFA turned out to be brilliantly subverted by being fucking nothing.

I was convinced Holdo was supposed to be a minor villain. She was a typical incompetent and insecure officer character that needs to pull rank and insult her subordinates to hide their shortcomings. The fact that she actually had a plan was a twist to me.
Her gender was irrelevant.

>If only he blindly followed orders, a core value of the Resistance/Rebellion.
but it IS a core value of the Chinese Communist Party and SJWs. Take your pick.

guys, I get that everyone is a big poe fan, but the resistance is an army. They have rank for a reason. Poe was neither General or Admiral, even before he got demoted for getting a bunch of people killed.
If you have ever served, you know the brass doesnt need to explain, they order and you do. thats it. thats an army.
Since the resistance didnt have that discipline, its just as well they got wiped out.

Poe was a moron, yes. He shouldn't have been demoted, he should have been airlocked for his retarded actions at the start of the movie. But the pinkhaired woman could have at least told him that she has a plan instead of insulting him. She did nothing to gain the crew's trust and mutiny was inevitable, Poe or no Poe.
Least she could do was say "we know they track us through hyperspace, but I already have a plan".

>She did nothing to gain the crew's trust
VICE ADMIRAL Holdo.
The rank is all that matters, she had already proven herself.

Just like our President.

Good leaders inspire trust, not fear and suspicion.

A Star Wars movie that punished every heroic action with abject failure. Good job dizzy.

It's like a comedy with no jokes.

And the director thinks he is very clever for deliberately doing a bad job.

Your president has proven what? draft dodging works?
When she was announced that she was taking over even Poe was "oh I heard of her" and then he was all "Imma not trust her". His character was written all over the friggin place.

>Referencing shot that happened off screen in the prequels as a defense.
>Dodges talking about Luke
>I am silly

Man, I don’t think I watched the same movie as everyone else.
I saw po’s conflict with holdo as an arc for him, where he learns that command can be incompetent and works to operate on his own.
I’d sympathize with her except that she had a plan and neglected to actually tell anyone about it. You can’t get mad at the crew for mutiny when you did your best to convince them you were a dolt who was going to get them all killed.

I liked the movie alright, but I’d have liked it better of it was just about rebel adventures with Finn, po, and rose.

Our president has proven how important it is that you respect rank, without considering the person.

Lets try an experiment.
Go enlist.
It wont be too long before there is a conflict for you to prove you are a hero. Do it up.
Then defy orders and question the brass. Let us know what happens.
We'll wait.

How do I enlist in the space fantasy rebellion? We're not talking about anything real here.

>Then defy orders
Wouldn't have to since the plan, in its entirety including the original commander's intent will be included in the opord without insults.

Any Army will do user.

Obi-Wan and Yoda did that after the Empire took power and actively hunted down the Jedi, they were hiding. Luke was moping.

I kinda took it that Luke thought the Jedi were part of the problem, and needed to be removed from the equation.
It wasnt presented well, but thats what I got.

We're not talking about a real army, user. Are you really using REALISM as you STAR WARS defense?
Hahaha

Is the leader going to not tell me the plan and just ask me to blindfold myself and walk into the battle? That bitch was terrible and hiding her plan was retarded.

>heroric fantasy adventures are about policies and procedures
What a fun person you must be.

>The rank is all that matters
>Your president has proven what? draft dodging works
Holy christ the hypocrisy.

>Since the resistance didnt have that discipline, its just as well they got wiped out.
It wasn’t Poe’s mutiny that caused further deaths. It was Holdo’s inaction and later her dumb, lore-breaking kamikaze attack that lead to most of the resistance being wiped out. Holdo did more to help the not-Empire than they could have ever done themselves.

Sometimes you need to follow your fucking orders, yes she should have told him her plan and not be a bitch about it but fuck, going full mutiny is a retarded decision in such a situation.

>yes she should have told him her plan and not be a bitch about it but fuck, going full mutiny is a retarded decision in such a situation.
Bad writing begets bad writing. The narrative was more concerned about showing a woman hold authority over men, and becoming a martyr, than it was concerned about telling a proper story about good vs evil.

There is respect for the chain of command, and commanders too up their own ass to Comand any semblance of authority or respect.

you do not blame the flock for the incompetence of the shepherd

Obi Wan and Yoda were waiting until they could help though, Luke went to Ahch-To to die
Also he seems to be missing that the Empire was actively hunting down Jedi

I liked tlj, but I won’t even try to justify Holdo. Fuck that entire sub plot could’ve been cut save the hyperspace collision.

The fuck are you talking about? Once Poe stopped trying to do reckless shit things went a lot better for the Resistance.

>It's like a comedy with no jokes.
Come on, the "we save those we love" followed by the cannon discharging was hilarious.

>going full mutiny is a retarded decision in such a situation.
It was a panic situation where they all faced both death and defeat of the Rebellion. Showing incompetence in a time of crisis is a good way to get yourself hanged by mutineers.

Poe was in no position to be uppity when he got so many people killed in like the first five minutes of the movie.

I don't understand why destroying that big ship wasn't worth it.

It is the mark of a good leader to be able to earn and maintain the trust and support of your subordinates and ensure that the chain of command is supplied with as much information as they need to efficiently carry out their orders while keeping morale high. By this metric, Holdo is a complete failure of a leader, though this should come as no surprise, considering she landed in her position due to more qualified commanders being killed off.

The fact that she existed at all when they could have done some crazy sacrificial gambit with Ackbar will never not infuriate me, especially since they killed him off screen like he was some nameless redshirt.

No one in that movie had two braincells to rub together, I thought that was an agreed upon fact.

>it completely justified him being hotheaded

By getting 90% of the army wiped out over the course of 18 hours?

>The fact that she existed at all when they could have done some crazy sacrificial gambit with Ackbar will never not infuriate me, especially since they killed him off screen like he was some nameless redshirt.

Apparently that was the original plan, but Ackbar's original actor died so they had to change it.

I think it's a "we need our numbers more than they do" kind of situation, the sacrifice was too great

But there's absolutely no reason why Holdo didn't tell Poe their plan
She know he's a hot-head who'll do anything for the Resistance, she should know he won't just sit around scratching his ass while he thinks the Resistance is on the brink of annihilation. So why not just tell him the plan before he inevitably tries something? With so few people left, why keep secrets?

Dumb dumb dumb
I knew she was going to be a retarded character right when I saw her hair

Taking out a big ship can be a good idea. When it costs you hundreds of troops, when you're already on the run and every troop counts, not a good idea.

meant for
***

Poe should be facing a fucking firing squad for what he did.

Holdo was such a poorly thought out character that for most of the movie I legitimately thought she was a secret agent for the First Order and was intentionally sabotaging the Rebels on purpose. The asspull of her being completely right and then sacrificing herself was dumb, then made Chinese tag-alongs statement of saving the things you love even stranger when every act of sacrifice done by the Rebels solved the immediate problem.

I can't say that subverting expectations just to subvert them is a good idea, because it isn't when this is the final product.

That just makes what they did to him even shittier, honestly. Could have at least given him a proper sendoff.

>all these Holdo defenders
She and Leia reduced the Resistance from a massive, Republic-supported fleet to a dozen people hiding out on the Millennium Falcon.

She deserved to die.
