Winter Soldier and Civil War are hands down my favorite MCU movies, so I've got a lot of faith in the Russos.

>so I've got a lot of faith in the Russos.
Same, and thanks for sharing your idea.

>> Your favorite team line ups we have gotten before?
Liked this one.

>implying there are enough Avengers fans to maintain a thread

i'm actually v scared about how No Surrender is leading to an End to the Avengers or something?? That's bad!

first issue was fine but it was set up that we already knew about from interviews and shit. issue 2 i'm more interested in bc we got the history is fucked up stuff

> Thoughts on the 1st issue of No Surrender?
It was fine, better than I expected.
> Your favorite team line ups we have gotten before?
Hard to choose, maybe original Secret Avengers.

> Your own team line up ideas?
Heavy hitter main Avengers team: Spectrum (leader), Thor (Odinson), Vision, Scarlet Witch and Pymtron

Secret Avengers: Sunspot (leader), Moon Knight, Agent Anti-Venom, Wasp (Janet), Scarlet Spider (Kaine), Quicksilver

> Hopes for Infinity War & post IW?
None

>Hard to choose, maybe original Secret Avengers.
Seconding this.

I'm glad Voyager is back, she's been gone for too long best founding Avenger by far.

>> Thoughts on the 1st issue of No Surrender?
Can't wait for Aaron & Ribic Avengers, this mini-event will be meh!

>> Your favorite team line ups we have gotten before?
Any team that has Cap, Iron Man, Thor, Hank and Jan, that's all I care, I guess the second line-up.

>> Your own team line up ideas?
My lineup would be:
-Hank
-Jan
-Tony
-Cap (leader)
-Thor
-Vision
-Wanda
-Black Panther
-Carol
-SONGBIRD!

>> Hopes for Infinity War & post IW?
I hate synergy so I have no hope.

Who should lead the post-NS Avengers and why is it Carol and Rogue?

>Can't wait for Aaron & Ribic Avengers
When was this announced?

Honestly can't believe it took them this long, very hype to see her interact with Falcon again. Always thought they had interesting chemistry.

>> Hopes for Infinity War & post IW?
1 - It's made clear Thanos is not using the Infinity Gauntlet during his fights. They said in Guardians he is the most powerful being in the universe all on his own, I want to see that shit.
2 - He has a Mos scale & style fight with Thor/Vision.
3 - He easily beats the fuck out of Hulk. Seriously do NOT have the Hulk beat him.
4 - He is not made into a joke once it's clear the battle isn't going his way like they did with Ultron.
5 - Vision doesn't die.
6 - Thanos uses his armor from Guardians (so pissed out his new outfit)

The one user that posted the screen cap from Space Ghost pegged it

So he gets punched into IHOP a bunch?

Putting Smasher on a team with Thor would defeat the point IMO. Smasher would be interesting to be *the* thor of an Avengers team, the heavy-hitter. Strength, durability, flight, energy projection, all sorts of sensory powers.

Swap Storm here in Thor's place.

I got Thor in there as (besides him being my fav character) I really like his relationship with Steve.
And Steve & Panther have a similar relationship of strong mutual respect & honor so I would like to see Thor & Panther interact, them both having been kings before & such.
Also Thor interacting with/fighting African or Wakandian gods would be interesting.

They don't have Thor interact with enough Mythologies besides Norse & Greek IMO.
Seth (Egyptian) hasn't appeared since 2008-ish and hasn't had a major arc since the early 90s.
The Myan/Aztec gods appeared in the Red Hulk book but were killed off if I recall correctly.
The Japanese gods are pretty much never used besides Mikaboshi being a Ares/Hercules villain.

Kinda perplexed as to how they will do the Skrulls without it being a rehash of Hydra hiding among Shield.

Really hope the Cap Marvel movie isn't anymore comedic then the 1st Iron Man nor slice of life oriented like the most recent runs of her.

Hope Carol's outfit is thick leather/rubber like the Dceu Superman suit instead of more cloth like Cap/Widow.
The gold pieces being actual slick glossy metal like Captain Phasma's armor would be nice.

Also pic related edits would be nice.
The original concept art design was just too fucking generic man.

I'm going to approve of your lineup since you included Smasher, and I really like her but I'm also with the user who pointed out how there's two tanks in the team, Thor would be useless or viceversa. I would swap him with Hercules instead just like it is in the current iteration.

My lineup would be something like:
>Quasar (Wendell or Avril revived, I don't mind)
>Spider-Man
>Blue Marvel
>Captain America
>Rogue
>Giant-Man (Maz Malhotra)

After much consideration I think this is the most Ideal team yet in terms of what they bring to the table

Iron man =Bats
Cap = Supes
Thor = Aquaman
Black P = Wonder W(black perspective)
Nova/ Carol/Quasar = GL (any of the 3 can suffice)
QuickS = Flash
ScarW = Martian ( magic can emulate his powers)

Hulk = just to fill extra space

>> Thoughts on the 1st issue of No Surrender?
Good shit. Can't wait to see what happens next.
>> Your favorite team line ups we have gotten before?
This is hard as hell. I love the Shooter era circa Nefarius Trilogy.

Have a soft spot for early Bendis, Dark Reign New Avengers, Busiek era, kooky quartet and original line up.
>> Your own team line up ideas?
All of them. Utilize the Avengers like JLU, with chairperson and avengers support civilians working side by side.
>> Hopes for Infinity War & post IW?
Hype.

My multiversal Avengers team basically the Marvel equivalent to Dc's Justice Incarnate or a more epic version of Exiles.

> Fem-Thor (earth x)
> Wanda Zatara (amalgam)
> Captain Marvel (ultimate)
> Black Widow (dustin weaver's anime tribute cover)
> Zarda / Power Princess (supreme power)

Why is Synapse the worst Avenger?
Did she exist prior to Uncanny Avengers or was she OC?

20 years from now she is going to be considered Sting Ray or Rage tier

...

What era/book is this from

OC

Onslaught

Honestly there should always be at least Cap, Voyager, or Iron Man, without the founding members it's not really the Avengers

>speed
>strength
>telepathy
wtf

It's not been officially but the idea is its the modern version of the Cavengers from Legacy AKA Ghost Rider, Starbrand, Thor (dunno which), Iron Fist, Dr Strange, Jean Grey

Oh and Black Panther

He just got Conan too. Just saying.

Does anyone have a Sentry guide image? 3 New Avengers volumes are available on Comixology but wondering where his arc goes from there? Thanks

Lets play a game Sup Forums

Pick one member from
Main Fantastic Four
OG Avengers (So all those from the very earliest issues, including Cap since he didn't show up in #1)
Guardians of the Galaxy/Cosmic characters close to them. Members that are mainline them, not like Iron Man.
X-Men
Inhumans. Royal or Nuhuman
A SHIELD person.

Try to not double up too much. So don't fill the team with say scientists, like Iron Man, Reeds, Rocket, Beast etc. Or Brawlers. Try to spread the archetypes.

I don't care

So much for the idea that after the weekly story ends, there'd just be one high-profile Avengers book, and the team would be the core Avengers characters, mostly the same ones as the movies.

They really think the Cavengers lineup will sell better?

Does it really matter if they are?

Inverted Victor is just great.

Well, there goes any semblance of hype I had in the first place.

Here's my line-up idea. Rotating leadership with no romance except between Wanda and Viz. It'd probably never sell, but I still yearn for a competent and experienced Avengers team where there isn't massive amounts of infighting and drama.

Or a SEARS. Or, you know, whoever else has money.

I like how small this team is.

What about a threesome between Marvel, Vision and Scarlet.

Well obviously, the whole team would have post-mission orgies. I'm talking about romance. Totally different, I swear.

But Wasp sews drama and discord wherever she goes.

Sue Storm
Thor
Nova
Namor
Black Bolt
I can't think of a SHIELD person, so Doctor Doom.

Sue Storm is the new leader of the Avengers AND fresh on the dating market. But she has problems finding a team, until old flame Namor and on and off friend and enemy Doom show up ready for action as Avengers. Others fill out the team. Black Bolt is cucked again by Medusa and ends up with the Avengers. and Thor and Nova aren't doing much.

Working together against threats across the globe, Sue starts to have feelings for all of them. But who shall take the hand of the Avengers most eligible Bachelorette?
If I didn't have the restriction, I would swap out Thor or Nova for Rightclops, to give a bit of rivalry between him and Black Bolt. And maybe swap out the other for a lady to compete for her as well, as a wildcard. or Black Panther, because lol.

When I said the rest of the team was experienced, that included experience dealing with Janet's bullshit. Besides, doesn't she usually cut that out when she's in a leadership position?

Nice crotch shot

Sex
I mean cool, but fuck off with black widow.
Props for Geheneris

he's better than avenger, he should be power ranger

I also had an idea for an exiles style Avengers team that travels the multiverse/time stream righting wrongs and showing cool twists on classic characters.

Leader - Iron Lad. I wanted to introduce the idea that you could travel to an alternate universe by going back in time before their timeline split with yours, and then traveling forward on that timeline instead of your original one.
Field Leader - Cyclops. He'd be from a universe where the X-men and Avengers worked together to end mutant prejudice. This Cyclops has taken on the mantle of Captain America after the original stepped down.
Speedster - Blur. From the new Universe. I liked him in the recent Squadron Supreme series, wanted a speedster, and he already has universe switching in his background.
Tech genius - Vision. Female Vision from a gender-swapped universe where her husband, the Scarlet Wizard, died heroically stopping Cthon.
Magic wielder - Scarlet Witch. From an earth similar to 616, only her husband the vision died heroically stopping Ultron. I'm sure you all see where this is going.
Wild card - Sabretooth. Inverted Creed from 616. Needed someone from the main universe, and he fills the wolverine-shaped hole that every team book has. Also I just think he's cool.

So that's the basic idea. I realize it's pretty fanfic-y, but to be fair, that's exactly what it is.

Creative, I like it. Was thinking Scott myself but this is an interesting dynamic.

Thanks! I started thinking about the idea after realizing that the multiverse post-secret wars hasn't really been explored. Hopefully the new Exiles series provides.

Synapse isn't the worst but she's up there.

Also she only exists because of Ike's Inhuman push.

They need to tell Brevoort to go fuck himself and bring back West Coast Avengers.

Main Avengers book is the big guns (Cap, Thor, Black Widow, two obscure characters and two "name brand characters not part of the classic Avengers)

West Coast Avengers is the pure nostalgia classic Avengers book.

Hawkeye, Wanda, Vision, Hank Pym, Iron Man and four classic WCA types (Julia Carpenter Spider-Woman, USAgent, Tigra) and a couple of new faces (Americop, Force, OG Beetle, who's back in the armor after Nick Spencer's girl Beetle turns up dead).

Base the team upon the fact that Tony knows he's a piece of shit, not worthy of Avengers membership, so he's surrounding himself with old friends he has shunned over the years, because deep down they would beat the shit out of Tony the moment he started acting like a shit and betraying his teammates for "the greater good".

Force is on the team, because Tony's training him to be his replacement next time Tony dies, Americop is there because he got turned into an Inhuman and now has Lobo/Multiple Man duplicate powers (explaining away the multiple Americops from the Spencer Cap run) and along with Abe Jenkins, are part of the WCA as part of Tony trying to "rehab" villains, with the running gag that Abe is pissed off that Tony doesn't consider him reformed given what a piece of shit Beetle was before Busiek whitewashed him.

Meanwhile you have Mockingbird as a villain (and the Great Lake Avengers as her slave/henchmen) doing black ops shit and the Avengers finding out that she lied about being raped and the fall out from it and her role in killing Vision. You have Tigra and Hank raising their son (and it leading to Nadia going evil again, out of jealousy towards her half-brother and the return of her mom MODAM), love triangle shit with Clint being pissed that his ex Julia is dating USAgent, and Wanda getting knocked up with Vision after a one night stand/retcon the various Vivs as Ultron spawn who exist solely to re-rebuild him.

Original Nick Fury!

>(and it leading to Nadia going evil again, out of jealousy towards her half-brother and the return of her mom MODAM),

What the hell? Hank Pym was married to a gender bent MODOK?

Yes and no.

Steve Englehart brought Nadia's mom/Hank's first wife back with the reveal that she was an AIM agent spying on Hank and that when she refused to betray Hank, they faked her death and turned her into a prototype MODOK named SODAM.

Englehart quit the book shortly after the storyline ended and Tom DeFalco resolved it by saying that SODAM was not Hank's wife after all; she was pretending to be his first wife in order to lure Hank from the Avengers so that AIM could steal Pym Particle tech from him. SODAM got outed by Hawkeye and Black Widow and fled with AIM when they tried to raid Hank's lab.

SODAM was later rebranded MODAM and in the pages of Iron Man, revealed to be a Red Room honeypot spy ala Black Widow. She notably seduced Omega Red so he could captured by the Russian government and turned into Omega Red against his will.

Disagree; the team in is much better in that it's more or less the proper nostalgia porn that any WCA revival should be.

Yeah.

The only reason to bring WCA back is to bring back as much of the original roster as possible and continue the themes/plots from the original series. If you don't do that, you might as well not even bother using the name and just call it Secret Avengers or Mighty/New Avengers.

WCA should be the Marvel version of JLI. IE you need a large combination of the following (Iron Man, Hawkeye, Hank Pym, Scarlet Witch, Wonder Man, Tigra, USAgent) or it's not really West Coast Avengers.

I just wish Firestar was an Avenger again

Does the West Coast Avengers even have that level of nostalgia porn value to it? As a 90s kid, I wasn't around when West Coast Avengers was around. Is it really a big thing nostalgia-wise that it has to be done in a certain way/has to have certain characters written a certain way (ala Justice League International) to work?

Let's put it this way: it was one of the flagship books of the Marvel Premier Classic HC line and has three fucking omnibuses and multiple TPBs, while the Avengers of the same period when WCA was being published, has only a couple of TPBs.

The only reason Marvel hasn't bit the bullet and brought the team back is that Tom Brevoort has a huge fucking hate boner for the title. Partly because Shooter let Englehart/Byrne/Thomas steal all of the A-List Avengers for West Coast Avengers, leaving the main Avengers book swimming in D-List/C-List losers for the bulk of the time West Coast Avengers was running.

The reason why WCA endures to this day whereas Secret Avengers is a huge fucking failure/old shame and New/US Avengers a complete failure on every level, is simple.

WCA had popular A-List Avengers combined with great writing and storylines, along with contributing greatly to the overall narrative of the franchise.

New/US Avengers is largely full of C-List/F-List morts no one gives a shit about, with Songbird and Sunspot the only ones people give a crap about. Nothing important or major happens, it has ZERO impact in terms of steering the direction of the franchise, and as we ultimately saw, disappeared without anyone giving a shit.

How was Secret Avengers a failure?
How was it's sells figures?

West Coast Avengers was never really good. Englehart had freaking Al Milgrom's chicken scratch artwork and the Byrne run, while beautifully drawn, was unreadable and did unspeakable damage to the Avengers franchise.

Roy Thomas's run was blah and had equally bad artwork. And the less said about Force Work the better.

The only reason people give a shit about WCA is the Byrne artwork and the fact that the main Avengers book was ten times worse, due to WCA hogging all the cool characters. It was the More Than Meets The Eye/Lost Light of it's day.

>WCA had A Listers
>Hawkeye, Mockingbird, Wonder Man, Tigra, pre-08 Iron Man
>A Listers

man I wish but that ain't reality.

very strange that Stern's Avengers hasn't gotten an omnibus though since WCA has one

The book sold well for it's first arc but the first arc was dogshit (Nova basically being a huge fucking bitch boy who got jobbed out and leaving the team after the first arc) the rest of the run by Brubaker (which involved an LMD and heavily retconning of Fu Manchu so Shang Chi could be useable again) drove off fans that sales crashed and burnt.

The retools didn't help nor did stunt casting (putting Nick Fury in charge, Agent Venom or Erin Grady joining, or Mockingbird) or gimmicks (full on black ops murder porn with the built in plot point of Fury wiping everyone's memories after each mission so canon fags could sleep soundly.

Disagree. Joining the Avengers was the worst possible thing that could have happened to Firestar and Justice. All their character growth from New Warriors was erased the second Busiek got his hands on them and worse, he made them incompetent as well in terms of turning Vance into a fumbling rookie who couldn't do anything right.

>Nova basically being a huge fucking bitch boy who got jobbed out and leaving the team after the first arc

oh man i was gonna make a joke about Sup Forums getting autisticly angry that Nova got Serpent Crown'd and you went and beat me to it.

I never really liked the way Lee wrote Voyager. All the “will they, won’t they” with Steve was too corny. I did like her showing Steve what he missed though.
Bendis gutted her in Avengers Disassembled though. One of the reasons I hate him.

WCA basically WAS the real Avengers in the 80s/90s whereas the main book was a bizarro proto-Bendis type state with C-Listers galore and Thor/Cap (and later Vision) as the only notable A-List members of the team.

Also, all of Stern's shit has been collected. Both in regular TPBs and halfway collected in the Epic line.

The only reason I can think of for the lack of an omnibus, is the fact that Stern's run started midway through the twenty part Trial of Yellowjacket storyline and that would make things super hard to collect in omnibus format, unless you collect the Shooter run too.

WCA has three omnibuses though the third one was branded "Avengers by Byrne" and collects #305-318 of the Avengers main book (Byrne wrote those issues but didn't draw them) along with the Byrne WCA run.

Stern's run is collected but haphazardly (so you can't mix and match trades) and sadly NONE of them have Secret Wars II #9 collected in them. Also Trial of Yellowjacket is OOP and goes for big bucks, due to the way that the Epic line has been mapped out, will most likely be split across two epic TPBs if and when they eventually reprint it.

i'm so mad Trial of Yellowjacket is out of print and all anyone ever cares about is the fucking slap.

that's maybe my favorite Avengers story.

Worse is that Marvel killed the Essential TPB line just as the Avengers line was about the collect the story (Essential Avengers ended around #205/206).

I purposely held off buying ToYJ because I wanted to buy it in the Essential format and they killed the line and let the Trial TPB fall out of print.

we need voodoo in future fight

fuck off pleb

I like her..has awesome powers and isn'tan annoying inhuman character like some others

As a telepath, she contributes a power the Avengers seldom have anyone with, and she isn't as amoral or abrasive as Moondragon and Druid could be.

She's far from the worst Avenger, and there's no reason to dislike her unless you're one of those people REEEEEEEEE-ing whenever you see the word "Inhuman", but it reads like Duggan made an effort to not push his OC so hard that readers would reject her, but instead, he never did enough with her to make readers care.

Working on a Secret Avengers team...

> Free Spirit
> Domino
> Valkyrie
> Scorn

Trying to decide between...
> Aarkus The 40s Vision
> Prince of Orphans

Moondragon's a fucking villain who just happens to team up with the Avengers.

i mean i don't really hate her but she's like Professor X evil telepath

There was that time she mind-control raped Thor.

>40s Vision

Fuck yes, that guy was awesome. I was going on a wiki binge one day and looking at old marvel stuff and discovered him by chance. We don't have enough ice guys and smoke people now a days and he combines both. It led me to looking into all the old teams like the invaders and Liberty Legion and made me think of a new team involving legacies of the old team

-Leader is Aarkus
-Ms. America Chavez as the enforcer
-The Whizzer's grandson who is the speedster and a goofball who's aware of how silly he is as a concept and embraces it
-Blue Diamond is apparently still alive and in space somewhere so he can come back, and if not then a new one
-A new Red Raven who's been redesigned to be an expy of Samus Aran (Raised by bird people, has a battle suit with a bird shape design, lots of weapons)
-Human Torch

Just a mishmash of the two teams that brings back the old characters where applicable and new ones where necessary. They could be the thunderbolts equivalent to one of the main Avengers teams.
