yes

Leafland here, fucking loved the show.

Irish here, it's one of the funniest shows I've ever seen.

I get that they're good people, but they're way to cringeworthy for me to watch a whole episode.

I'm Canadian and loved it
All my friends hated it though

My hometown in Canada might as well be called "Cold Arlen" and I love it. Some people I grew up with found it way too real to laugh at.

With the diferences names put in early seasons of Latino dubbed King of the Hill like:
> Dale = Diego
> Hank = Héctor
> Bauer = Benavídes.
I'm still good
ERES UN IMBÉCIL

We're talking about non-English speakers, I would think, for some things that would get lost in translation. Why the fuck wouldn't a Canadian get the show?

You mean non European (Romano/Germanic) languages. Usually nothing gets lost in translation.

Is Peggy a substitute english teacher?

Finfag here, I didn't like the show that much when I was younger and it's sometimes not easy to relate to American southerners. Now that I'm older though it's easier to understand the satire and I'd like to say I 'get' it.

That's a good question, how to they handle her bad Spanish bit?

There's a lot of mexicans in it. I thought it was funny that they actually celebrate cinco de mayo, when here it's just a day-off

>Did we get the show?

Well yes, it's not like american comedy is known for it's peak abstractness. KotH was fantastic for the most part.

Not really sure why you guys keep making Owen Wilson comedies, especially with Josh from Drake and Josh going on psychopathic rampage. Put that shit in Friday the 13th film or a horror comedy, and stop wasting your time.

t. Bongland, North West

americans are literally the only ones who don't "get" good shows from other countries

That's not even remotely true retard, look at how Germans and Brits don't get each other's comedies.

youtu.be/2GSMGl9P1D8
Thoughts on the japanese dub? Hank sojnds like a shonen protagonist and I love that.

We had this discussion last week. Were you not listening?

>keep making Owen Wilson comedies
We tried to stop it, he hadn't had a starring role in forever until last year. He won't stay dead, we're not sure what it is about him.

unfortunately they probably see every american being each of these characters on the show.

Considering it was cancelled, most Americans didn't get it either.

It ran its course. I'm glad it died in peace.

>cancelled
It ran its full course, and its course was somewhere around ten seasons. It had more than enough time on air, it even wrapped up, something some shows don't get to do.

Gibberish english

Non-Americans think that King of the Hill is an accurate description of Texas lol.
Well, it kinda is, actually.

Germans get British comedy, it is just that Brits don't get the british comedy germans like.

Boomhauer-san sounds terrible.

Italian here
there is literally nothing to not get about this show, it's much more accessible than Family Guy which is full of references us Mario sometimes don't get

Link? Can't seem to find it on Youtube.

sounds pretty bad

I'm English and I love it. I don't know, I kind of like the American South a lot more than other people around here do, so I probably get a little more stock out of the show than others.

I do think a lot of the show is pretty universally appealing though.

>Hans? What are you watching in here?
>Oh, hallo roommate, Stephen. I am vatching a most hilarious documentary! Come see!
>What are you...? This is footage of the Blitz, Hans.

Scandi here, it's great. Very, very few people know about it, it was never shown on tv. It's not really something I can relate too, but it's charming in the all-american-ness of it. And it's nice to see some "non-liberal" comedy, which is rare even in the US.

>they didn't leave Boomhauer as mushmouthed rapid English
Wasted opportunity, TVTokyo.

>Hans, look, he walks in a silly way
>Stephen, zat seems very inefficient. Won't he get tired?
>Look, they have a whole ministry for people like that. Isn't that funny old chap?
>Stephen, the ministry should outlaw such walks
>Hans, this isn't real. It's a joke Hans
>Hans get off the tank

Yes, it's funny. Plus we're steeped in so much US media anyway. The only thing I don't understand is what the devil aluminium siding is.

as a 7PM series that was so consistently bumped for NFL, MLB, and NASCAR stuff that an entire season was made from previously unaired episodes they did the best they could

Britbong and I love it. Wish they had it on Netflix.

>that entire episode where she kidnaps a kid from mexico and smuggles her across the border
I have so many questions, I dont know where to start

Texas isn't the south, it's Texas.
.t Southerner
>inb5 ginny isn't the south, I'm not in NoVa and I grew up in Falwell central. Everyone outside the cult thought he was an ass.

Poland here, I marathoned this whole series once.
I could understand and love the "hard-working american spirit against all oddities"

Some parts of Texas have stronger Southern influences because they were settled by Alabamans. The part of Texas KotH is set in is mostly Tennessean. The easternmost part of the state along the Gulf Coast is basically an extension of Louisiana.

It's definitely a unique thing and not "the South" proper, but it has strong enough cultural similarities to the South that outsiders could be forgiven for conflating the two.

>I get that they're good people

You're watching the wrong show.

Sheets of aluminum done up to look like wood slats. Used to clad the exterior of buildings. Do you not have those?

I'm Swedish.

The answer is yes, mostly, but there are certain things I have a trouble wrapping my head around. I still don't know if we're meant to think Hank is smart or just smart compared to the rednecks around him. Another example is that I'm not sure if John Redcorn's talk about the land of his ancestors is meant to help us sympathise with the douchebag, or just see him as an even more unlikable character.

>what the devil aluminium siding is.
Siding made of aluminum

> I still don't know if we're meant to think Hank is smart or just smart compared to the rednecks around him
He's wise and smart when it comes to common sense. He's never fiddled with book smarts. He's the type of guy you go to when you've got a problem with your car, or your lawn. So yes he is smart, just not in the typical math/science way.

>John Redcorn's talk about the land of his ancestors is meant to help us sympathise with the douchebag
It's to point out his hypocriticism. He goes around banging people's wives and girlfriends but somehow expects people to feel pity for the fact that he has little land. He is also a racist who believes all white people must pay for what their ancestors have done.

Everyone in the show is made dumber than their hypothetical real life counterparts would be for comedic effect, even the smart Asian character. This makes it hard to gauge Hank, but as a Texan who has known several Hanks irl I'd say he's slightly above average. It's more his grounded moral compass that keeps him from acting as stupid as the rest of them rather than his IQ.

Redcorn is meant to be a kind of pathetic character. You are meant to very slightly sympathize with him while still thinking he's a douchebag. He lives a laid back, pussy-chasing lifestyle until he gets too old to find it fulfilling anymore, then he has an existential crisis when he realizes how meaningless his life has been and starts chasing silly causes in the hope of finding meaning and/or blaming White people for his problems. The fact that he still considers whities like Hank & co. friends despite going hard for Native American victim posturing implies that he is working through emotional issues rather than really believing that shit.

This is bs. Even simple puns get los in similar languages.

>it's a Sup Forums projects on to John Redcorn episode again
Early season is a plot device with little actual character, the only real example of hypocrisy is in the porno episode when him and Nancy give Hank a disapproving look when they think he's renting a porno
Later on when he starts getting episodes he's some guy that kind of hates his life because nothing turned out the way he wanted and none of his plans are as good as he thinks until he stumbles into kids music
Late season John is back to being a plot device
He's a fairly shallow side character like Dooley, you're reading to much into it

Card carrying red man here, I can confirm that the stereotype is there for a reason. I call them half my family.

No.

>all white people must pay for what their ancestors have done
Unfriendly reminder that this is a Sup Forums myth and that most of John Redcorn's race-related problems are caused by living people

New Zealand reporting in: All my friends enjoy it and quote it regularly. That being said I was very surprised to hear from my American friends that it wasn't an over the top exaggeration of Texas life like I had always assumed.

You can never exaggerate Texas because Texas is already an exaggeration.

I mean Alberta is basically just America so I don't think it really counts, but yeah, I loved this shit.
