not exactly how it happened. Just start looking into sources that talk about dinosaurs being a hoax. They turn people off because they all have a strong christian bend but these people are dead fucking serious and I really think they are right. Literally nobody holds the field of paleontology accountable for anything because the reaction is always just to attack them for being "stupid christians". As a result 170 years of psuedoscience have stacked up so much that there is a wealth of information that takes paleontologists decades to understand. They just don't realize that their basic assumptions about it are entirely wrong.
A starting point is to start noticing how paleontologists are constantly reforming the entire concept of dinosaurs. The basic theory behind them isn't really bulit on a strong foundation so fundamental assumptions seem to change all the time. Notice how it seems like every year there is a handful of dinosaurs that are declared to "have never actually existed". Its always due to a combination of intellectual laziness, poor record keeping or blatant lying. Paleontologists that are reexamining their field constantly find that what the history of their field is literally with bad science. Meanwhile you NEVER hear about paleontologists low on the totem poll having big finds. The only times """"new species"""" are discovered its always in giant pits with hundreds or thousands of """fossils""" in places where no one was even looking then are excavated by well-funded and well-connected individuals. And even then they still never find complete (or even close to complete) skeletons. Just handfuls of random fossils that they speculate an entire animal from by comparing it to other """dinosaurs"""" that were designed from the same flawed process.
