thoughts?

>half expected an animated feature
>it's live action
Half my expectations just flew out of the window.

Looks shit.

>comic's best aspect is the art
>jt's fairly simplistic, could be easy to translate into animation
>film is live action

EVERY TIME

Looks like typical 6/10 Sundance movie.

Well... this is going to fall into obscurity rather fast.

Haha "poots"

>all the non comic readers who are going in blind
>all the people thinking that this is going to be about a girl fighting monster

Worth seeing in theaters.I'm going to bring packets of tissues to pass out.

>not animated

Well what a wasted idea

I just wanted to ask whether the giants are real because judging from the trailer, it doesn't look like it. to me, it looks much more like that liam neeson movie (a monster calls)

Is this like Bridge to Terrabithia?

>I just wanted to ask whether the giants are real

Kinda. But the true giant, is cancer.

had the exact same thought. the girl won't probably die but it looks a lot like the typical imaginary world movie

>Sup Forums says it's good
>add it to my cart on a whim while buying better comics
>it arrives, read it, it's not good
Pretty disappointed, but oh well, more filler to the shelf.

I'll story time this later if anyone is interested. Too busy right now, so maybe in a couple of hours.

Pretty much.

great, another generic fantasy film. This comic deserves better

Absolute shit taste
I got it

Have to resize some of this

I love how it spoils all the story in a few minutes lol

...

Not even

...

...

...

...

so it's false premise. thanks for letting me know to not waste my time with this

...

Nah, just horribly marketed. It'll get people in the seats though

Good lord that looked like shit. That girl cannot act and that did not translate well into live action at all. The big goofy hammer looked retarded.

I really don't know how I would market this

...

Could they at least have gotten a lead that didn't deliver her lines in dull monotone?

...

>live action

Why even bother

...

Not sure they should have kepts the rabbit ears.

...

Oh, so it's pretty much exactly like A Monster Calls.

...

...

...

... Where the kaiju at?

Yeah really. They look cute on paper, but live action; they look like absolute shit.

...

Yeah, that movie ripped off the comic hard. Fuck that movie.

...

The comic wasn't that great but it's neat it's being adapted. It can reach a whole new audience.

...

...

I remember thinking it was decent as best. Bought it on a whim.
Does it get better with repeated readings? Not sure if knowing the tweest would make it better or worse.

...

I think it makes it better

i didn't like the art that much

They should've gone with those bunny hats with long floppy ears that weaboos wear.

...

...

...

Doesn't look awful, but it really should have been stop motion made by Laika.

...

...

...

Second reading is better, because then you get all the little clues you didn't see before.

Looking at it my first thought was "The producers must have wanted to make her a black girl soooo badly". Like people must have been in a frenzy.

The magical realism of the original book is much easier to buy in comic form. The simplified character designs and slightly cartoonish world make it easier to buy. A cartoon would be a much better choice for adaptation.

You COULD make it into live-action, but that would require extraordinary talent, and this movie doesn't look like it cuts the mustard.

Also the actor for Barbara sounds too sincere and serious. I always imagined her speaking very sardonically, like she really believes she's surrounded by fools.

Overall, unless this gets rave reviews, I will not be seeing it.

...

...

What why? What are you talking about?

...

...

...

Im too lazy to read the comic. Can someone spoil the twist? There's no mosnters; its just her fighting back some sort of mental illness or some shit?
