Anyone still remember this show? Some of the tightest scripting I've watched in any cartoon, let alone one that's entirely slice-of-life like this...
Fred's Head

I didn't really get the appeal of the show, DESU, the animation is pretty lacking and at a glance it just kinda seems like you standard teen comedy, maybe a little edgier, but the opening song is REALLY good.
>at a glance
Maybe you should actually watch a show before judging it...
>but the opening song is REALLY good
Actually the opening song is mediocre, especially compared to the show itself. (It does sound a little better in the original French.)
I definitely agree that the animation's lacking, but it's still far better than most Flash shows of that era, to say nothing of current CalArts shit.
>Fred dumped Tamara for Anette
The fool
Hey, I can't help but agree. But from a narrative perspective it's done extremely well, particularly with the dream sequences showing us just how torn Fred is on the matter.
Something that made me genuinely mad was that GG gave up the perfect girl because she wanted to have sex before marriage then goes on to be sad about it. At least this is completely fictional and the characters' choices don't really matter as if they were the real world
She only wanted to make out a little.
I feel like once GG enters his 30's all the women will be lining up to settle for him.
You're overrating this show. It's nothing we haven't seen done before.
By the way, does anyone remember Daft Planet? Fred always reminded me of this show.
Barely. The only episode plot I can remember is the one where the hat kid fell in love with some girl but their families were enemies so they run off only to quickly get bored with each other.
It's genuinely one of my favorite shows.
Yeah, Fred's Head. Seriously underappreciated. Though I think the nose thing is a little weird.
The red head was supposed to get a lesbian love interest in the next season.
Shame.
It's hard to remember a show that's mostly lost media, but why do you think it's comparable to Fred's Head at all?
I remember that show. It was aired in the same animation block as Fred's Head. Here at least. Most cartoon stations had that area of the night where they'd stick "artsy stuff and other things we don't know what to do with."
Still pisses me off whenever this is brought up. They were literally perfect for each other in every single way, and they worked out any issues they had with proper communication between them.
Instead Fred gives up a perfect relationship for his "little redhead" chick who is so fucking autistic and only claims that she's had a crush on him this whole time at the end because the show needed an ending.
AGHHSDJSDJSJDSJ
Love is not logical, user. That was kind of the point.
...
Why were these type of shows so popular back in the 00's?
Teen love at that. Fred was a bright kid but still a kid and lacking in the kind of perspective that comes with age, or at least hindsight.
What? This show is incredibly unique, unexplained claim notwithstanding.
Why don't you go watch some? There are a few episodes on youtube, and this sizzle reel:

I know they are, I'm asking your opinion.
9/11 and advances in gaming technology dealt a pretty heavy blow to action cartoons. SoL had the opportunity to fill that gap.
the fat friend ruined the show honestly
Your shit taste ruins this board, honestly.
i mean its a good show despite him
but he lowers it
I don't agree. Some of the shit he says is absolute fucking gold.
Who could hate this face?
Never been able to find a seeded torrent of it or worthwhile porn of the redhead, so I'm forced to believe it's all an elaborate ruse meant to trick me.

GG was great. It was shoehorning in the snob girls that made things strange- who cares about cheerleader arguments? Get back to the odd philosophy and the amusing animation.
Tamara is a brilliant character and Penelope is fucking hilarious most of the time. It's Jody who you're really talking about.
Penelope says it herself: You gotta have a bitchy one in the group.
Jody shook things up and cut through a lot of the bullshit. She was someone to hate and laugh at when things blew up in her face, but she was also kind of pitiable when they show how insecure she is.
>Penelope says it herself: You gotta have a bitchy one in the group.
When you're right, you're right. However:
>Jody shook things up and cut through a lot of the bullshit. She was someone to hate and laugh at when things blew up in her face, but she was also kind of pitiable when they show how insecure she is.
Sure, but there's no reason the writers couldn't have given her a few half-decent moments occasionally, especially in the later episodes. She remained a bitch through-and-through.
Fuck that Hawaiian Punch peice of shit
Yes pls

BTW there was a rumour spread here that one of the episodes wasn't done by this guy, as you can see they're all here. Don't always trust Sup Forums.
Trust is a strong word to use when talking about anything you see on the internet.
But I thought Sup Forums was love...
Mind if I post these on Myspleen?
I'd actually ask you to do it, if anything. Those files are ridiculously hard to find, another source for them would be more than welcome.
Got it, I'll do it as soon as I download them all
>canada makes a good cartoon
>never gets sent to the states
Alright, if the thread's still up by then do post once you get them up there.
why doesn't anybody have a fucking neck ?
Could've been worse, it could've got the Detentionaire treatment.
>Detentionaire
what happened with that ?
I really like this show
CN bought the US rights, but only put it on some shitty on-demand service so nobody could find it, and cut out entire episodes and portions of episodes and made dialog changes to boot.
>tfw you did that irl
Bump because I've just finished downloading them
...
If there's one thing that Freds Head taught me it's: When all else fails, amass the squirrels.
This show lacks a ton of fanart and r34. So heartbreaking.
All the man wanted to do was jerk off to a picture of his crush. Goddamn.
bump
Quebec isn't really part of Canada. The actual English-speaking country couldn't have made it.
I actually really liked Fred's pearl of wisdom moment at the end of each episode, especially the last one.
>especially the last one.
You cheeky fuck...
But yeah, I agree - they were great.
Did you put them up?
this
they have no taste
>taste
No, culture. English-speaking Canadians are just a loose grouping of Americans stranded outside the US because of a ridiculous border.
They have no common identity, and therefore cannot produce any worthwhile cultural output.
Yep
Nice! And nice trips, too.
>lanky
>ghost white skin
>baggy eyes
I want to fuck Fred Leblanc.
No, amount. Canada can't get it's act together for anything other than the favorite sports teams and local foods. The canuk buck is purposefully kept below the worth of the USA dollar for import/export reasons. They have a bunch of talent, a bunch of studios, but they don't have the insanely high product capacity of Hollywood. Canada cannot produce any worthwhile amount of cultural output.
How does that explain much smaller countries maintaining much higher/better cultural output?
Let alone countries with insanely low currencies...
Money=time=effort (+lenient watchdoggers)= Wakfu instead of Yogi Bear. Canada doesn't make the deals to apply enough of it to the animation projects. Meanwhile people in other countries are spending twice the time to make a better project, because they get paid more local-money while still being paid about the same in 1st-world money.
Cartoons need to be cheecky without being ugly- Totally Spies is better then Big Mouth, even though we'd like to see them swap age ratings.
He's got a certain juney-say-kwah.
Instead of addressing my points, you decided to post a barely-comprehensible, ranting word salad.
...
...
Get thee a better rip.
apparently the creator wanted to make another season based more on Fred's friends rather than on Fred himself
kinda like how moral orel's fifth season was supposed to be about the characters within moralton
of course this never came to be since teletoon decided to put the show on hold indefinitely
not even cancel it just put it on hold forever
Did somebody rip the French DVD?
>mfw
*ju ne se quoi
Or in other words: What's up?
Sorry, wrong phrase. Ju ne se quoi... Means "I don't know what..."
Fuuuck, I meant JE NE SAIS QUOI!!!
The TV rips on youtube look better than that.
The higher-quality rips are full of French text, though (even if you were to sync the audio). If you want the actual English version there is no better quality than at the moment.
