JSA Storytime: Question

Good evening owls,

let's read one

I'm gettin' drunk

...

Die wanna wanga?

...

...

Hello, Storyteller.

What ever happened to Dr. Mid-Nite? There was at least three of them, but I don't think any of them have shown up in Rebirth. I had this thought the other day, because I hate the fact there's no clear infrastructure concerning superheroes and their medical needs.

Capes get fucked up all the time, but there doesn't seem to be a Mid-Nite Corp to patch them up in hidden hospitals or anything.

waitin' for JSA

Robinson had maybe promised one, but we know what fucking happened there, dont' we

It still hurts.

I started reading Marvel recently. What makes Marvel heroes more "relatable" than others? I'm still not seeing it.

Midwestern weather is famously volatile

...

why is Robinson allowed to write 4 series all poorly right now?

Someone at the Atlantic tweeted about looking into maybe writing about EVS’ twitter shit.

EVS threatened to sue. LOL

fucking really

Robinson has lost his touch, so even if he did do it, it'd probably be a hollow shell of the concept.

It's also just annoying that there aren't that many medics in cape settings. I guess if it isn't combat related, nobody's interested.

Feels like the tide is kind of rolling against EVS, now

You need to have the comparison of silver age DC where most of the heroes were boring as heck.

That's a good cover.

Let EVS do what he does.

The comics community talks big about diversity and tolerance but tries to drive away every conservative person in the industry.

I would take a book illustrated by EVS than one written by Kate Leth any day of the week.

He's been getting by with dog whistling for awhile, i've kinda been waiting for something to happen.

Yeah, there's definitely this sense of the dam straining.

oh shiiiiiiiiiiiiii-

>dat history lesson

Not only does writing a doctor character require a shitton of research, it also tends to bring up a ton of stuff that most superhero comics would rather be glossed over.

...

I still have that damn auto-downloaded album on my iPod. It's the one thing my itunes instantly just loads up.

...

>Warner Books
Is this why DC was able to break into the bookstore demographics in a strong way?

I though Hub City was further East than getting a major in 1886. huh

;____;

...

This comic is eerily close to present reality....

>me reading this issue: oh I bet it rains and hurts the election
>lol TORNADOES MOTHERFUCKER

Ah, the election the NRA wants to see.

...

Uh

...

yeah it's a liiiiiittle uncomfortable lol

god this page is good

his brother is facing heat in the indie scene for being really awkward with women

I remember one post about that, lol

>a ton of stuff that most superhero comics would rather be glossed over.
Such as? Cause if you're talking about realistic effects of long term combat roles on the body, that is something that can be fudged for the sake of the story.

I mean medics should be more common due to simple practicality. As a reader, I know full well that these injuries would be endgame in real life, but suspension of disbelief allows one to treat this more like a tabletop session. It's merely the absence of infrastructure or medical personnel that is difficult to accept.

...

Pretty much everything Dinsmore's pulling is based on real life attempts to fix elections.

...

fucking Eliot quote lol

Be more effective if he just told the voters to wear a green ballcap as Vic Sage.

Wagner's Dr. Mid-nite was sooooo good. Much better than what he ended up doing in JSA.

...

Not unless you're colorblind.

Myra has gotten considerably more hagarred over the course of the campaign.

I love that mini so much

Also love me some JKS3 and his incarnation in MAGE

Cathartic as fuck.

Remember when Max Allan Collins got told that it was unacceptable for Batman to be knocked out by a guy breaking a baseball bat on his head? That.
The moment you put any kind of focus on actual injuries on your street level characters beyond "Ugh cracked two ribs but I gotta stay focused", the more you risk breaking the universe's internal logic by adding closer to real world logic. But that's just me, tho'. It's possible to do a Night Nurse and establish a superhero medical center, but making it a whole ongoing for instance is where things could start getting muddy.

...

WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?

so much easier to just pay to stuff the ballot boxes

This has to be toy tie in, right?

...

why didn't vic vote! did i miss it

Does Vic's gas count as a Henshin sequence?

...

No, you fucking smelly weeaboo

I love how even the weatherman goes crazy. In Hub City, anyone who tries to do their job well goes nuts or goes dead reaaal quick.

Too busy with the investigation, then worrying about Tot.

...

Eh, I don't really mind that kind of thing if it serves the story.

Also, not necessarily asking for an ongoing about a superhero medical center(though I'd read the fuck out of that), it really only needs to be a background element. Again, I can accept that a cape universe has plenty of bullshit medical tech that lets people spend maybe a day laid up and then they're fine(Purple Ray, for example), but it's the fact that hero injuries are never addressed at all is what gets on my tits.

about time to go fight some werewolves

this is gonna suck

>gets on my tits
Who the fuck talks like this?

hey, things often get on my tits

>it's the fact that hero injuries are never addressed at all is what gets on my tits.
100% with you there.

Ugh, this sequence is so good. Tight and tense as shit.

WELP

...

Back in the day, Times Square was ungentrified wall to wall porn shops, lemme tell you

yes, kids, there was a time you needed to buy porn in a store instead of streaming it on the internet

random observation, but I think I've seen more letters from Quebec than the rest of Canada in these last few issues.
It's probably just observation bias though.

1965!!!!!!

thanks for reading more tomorrow whenever I get home so aiming for 7:30ish?

Quebec is cool

Have a good one, OP!

Thanks for posting as always, Storyteller.

This election storyline is tense as fuck, and way less cringeworthy than real life elections.

This just continues my desire to write a comic about political machines.

awwwww shit, someone's keeping it real

Wonder Woman vs Trigon in No Justice?

Is Raven his new waifu? Has he moved on from Donna?
It is pretty weird that Wolfman is writing Cyborg and Raven in 2018.

he's clearly not working for DC right now lol

Justin you based madman.

Damn. Fucking savage.

Seriously, can we please get a different fucking plot going for Raven? Fucking enough with Trigon shit already.

>12 issues

It is excessive.

Starting to hope all the Wolfman stuff is filler and they convinced Bendis he could be the guy that does Titans "right" for the first time since Wolfman/Perez. He's got kids, I bet that like the cartoon. Dick and Wally, good luck and godspeed

God, how of these mostly forgotten insane minis did DC do?

Oh come on, Dave. I'm sure that each issue will be eventful and interesting in its own right, and won't be decompres-... Ahahahaha! Sorry, I couldn't finish that sentence.

Oh now we're off manga? Make up your mind, thread user.

Voting's for chumps.
Advance polling? He was going to be working all day.

Carl's Jr. toppings don't count.

I really wonder if he would be taking over Green Arrow and some form of Titans. GA seems like something he could write, and Percy is off it.
I wonder if he'll somehow bring in Connor (even though this Ollie is still pretty young).
That Priest thread has someone claiming (no evidence) that Priest is writing The New Mutants, which means that Rosenberg is writing a filler thing yet again (that was announced as a mini at least)

Bendis on Conner might work, or might be Luthor Angst ratcheted up a few notches.

So yeah, looks like the annuals have happened by now.

ummm, we'll get around to them when I have three days in a row, I guess

I feel like Montreal was probably an early hub for comic book shops- Universities and all.

Not as early as Toronto or Kitchener, mind. But still early.

>Priest is writing The New Mutants

hmmmmmmm. that's random. as always i'm hoping for ewing.

i think bendis is probably due for another A list besides Superman.

lmao

But seriously can Raven get another plot that isn't Trigon related? Empath powers aren't too common so surely something that hasn't been done over and over is there?

Wolfman Cyborg is definitely filler but Wolfman Raven isn't. Her mini just probably sold better than expected and Wolfman doesn't want anybody else writing her books so DC gave him another.

Donna is his ultimate waifu but Wolfman has gone on the record saying Raven is his favorite Titan character that he actually created.
