How come there are not cartoons set in ancient Egypt? Seriously, why is the Egyptian mythology so underused? It has great lore and a lot of interesting characters.

there was that one King Tut show on Discover Kids back in the 00's, but that's all I can really think of

>DUDE THOR AND ZEUS LMAO
Fuck that shit. Give me some egyptian action youtu.be/Jzew54aVvrU

>why is the Egyptian mythology so underused?
because save for norse and greek they all are.

The furry fandom would go crazy over it though.

Why you can't be sincere and just say that you want more art of Rule 63 Anubis?

...

There are, you retard.

Because Greek mythology and Norse mythology are cooler.

Cute!

I know at least of two. One was called Papyrus and the other Princess of the Nile. I think both were about a young princess and a palace guard, but the former was more in the vein of Aladdin cartoon and the latter mure realistic.

Yeah I don't think people realize just cause Egypt isn't used as much as Greek or Norse doesn't mean it's not used tons as well, it's still in the top percent used

ancient egypt was pretty much the main/only reason i loved and still love yu-gi-oh
i wish takahashi would do some sequel or interquel stories related to the egypt shit
the card games can fuck off, i liked the idea of Egyptians just playing games

>All that empty space

...

But the card game is cool

Prince of Egypt?

there's Mummies alive

but honestly, i want a show using ALL gods during the late classical age where paganism was going through a weird transitional period in which syncretism and philosophical concepts were making the face-value appreciation of god like figures difficult.

it would be a story where the gods don't know who they are anymore and they seem to be losing grasp of the world of the mortals.

...

Jew mythology

Same.

Also I will be super nitpicky about historical accuracy in films about ancient Egypt, but in cartoons - the more ridiculous the better.

>but in cartoons - the more ridiculous the better
This youtube.com/watch?v=dGctQgTS1uo

west media owned by jew who hated egypt

Well Japanese is used alot, but japan has a large entertainment industry so its not surprising.

That would be an extra

Semi-unironically this. Ancient Egypt was heavily defamed by the Bible and all that was ingrained in the mind of American Protestants who really take the Old Testament seriously.

Black people would complain that aren't enough black people.

Egypt is tricky because its ALL Gods.

Other mythologies have a healthy blend of mortal and demigod heroes, and fantastic creatures, presided over by Gods.

Egypt just isn't as diverse.

Leni loud?

Mythology in general is pretty rare in pop culture.

Greek/Roman shit edges out the Egyptians and Norse but I wouldn't say it's exactly super prevalent.
Norse is lucky it has Marvel because that's the large bulk of its relevance.

Such a classic, that one must be over 15 years old.

Yeah, unlike in other ancient societies (looking at you Rome) Egyptian gods were bros so they didn't fuck with humans very much. Doesn't make for great stories.

There's Papyrus, which was bretty good. The comics are better though.

Gods having wacky adventures and crazy battles sound fun

Do you think that people that spam free-art bait threads are ever sincere in their greed, user?

Meant for

>Yeah, unlike in other ancient societies (looking at you Rome) Egyptian gods were bros so they didn't fuck with humans very much.

that's Greece, Romans let the priests handle the gods and were more scared of spooky ghosts, curses and bird entrails

>But the card game is cool
the card game is great, but the japanese forced the manga to be solely about card games, and everything became worse for it. the manga started out being about games in general, and I think the plot may have had a little bit more momentum had it been more than the card game.
i fucking love battle city though.
id watch this
thats exodus

>solely about card games, and everything became worse for it
Yet 5Ds was the best Yugioh

My bad.

But you know who gets even less attention? Mesopotamia. And they had a pretty great pantheon.

>it's a Sekhmet episode

bitch GX was the best Yugioh

I'll take depression causing the Card Game Instrumentality Project over card games causing a future robot invasion which causes the main villain to splice himself with the main character and than turn himself and friends into robots so they can travel back in time and stop the end of the world by causing it early

also I hate how they completely cut Carly after the Dark Signer arc

i watched neither of those because my interest was egypt and the original cast of characters?

>card games causing a future robot invasion which causes the main villain to splice himself with the main character and than turn himself and friends into robots so they can travel back in time
Being ridiculous and over the top is what made 5Ds the best. This is just cool as fuck youtu.be/5W91sacigrE

Only like 10% of Duel Monsters was about egypt and most of the duels were shit

What about the second half of Stardust Crusaders?

>Bes getting shit on is the punchline again
Glad they actually did their fucking research, huh?

Yet egyptian gods are generally envisioned as benevolent while other gods are portrayed as jackasses.

>it's a "Set and Horus have gay incestual sexual tension again" episode
>it's an "Isis hides Ra's penis after they have an argument" episode

Pick your God

>Only like 10% of Duel Monsters was about egypt and most of the duels were shit
read the manga
egypt was the locale and nothing more

Because no creator wants to be responsible for unleashing another wave of Anubis thirst upon the world.

>>it's an "Isis hides Ra's penis after they have an argument" episode

I think you're confused there buddy.

>another wave
>another
What

Trips for truth. Poor Anubis. All he wants to do is help preserve your existence in the afterlife forever. Is that so bad?

Best: Seth
Runner up: Thoth
Underrated: Ma'at and Hathor

Maybe that wasn't the right word to use but everyone wanting to fuck Anubis is just like, a thing anyone who spends too much time online knows about. There was a huge kick of Anubis porn in the furry/DA community in the early 2000s and as far as I know he's still really popular with them.

There ARE some cartoons set in ancient Egypt, it's just that they aren't popular or are animated by Egyptians for their own country's audience.

The main character is the kid on the left. It's called "sno7y", but don't ask me why that number is there. I have no idea either.

Bastet!

>no dating sim where you die and Anubis falls for you and becomes conflicted over judging you

No, it was definitely the right word. There was a huuuge wave of porn in those days.

I can already see the "The internet has fallen for this ancient God" Buzzfeed articles.

Kill me now.

He's not the actual judge.
That's Maat

...

>tfw no cartoon about Kek, Hermes, Janus and Loki dealing with their new roles as gods of the internet

Imagine

My point is there's no dating sim where you can fall in love with an Egyptian God, and that's unacceptable.

>That traced picture of Ra from Smite
I just want to see Loki and Kek engaging in shitposting wars.
Anybody here play Smite, btw?

Tutenstein was my favorite show on Discovery Kids growing up

youtube.com/watch?v=ouVjZBrsEVc

Tutenstein was cute and the gods were hilarious

>Tut keeps calling Horus when he's relaxing in his tub

There should be a dating sim based around gods, including Egyptian gods.

Plus it'd be neat seeing other gods of different civilizations interacting with one another.

I can already see Yahweh proclaiming herself to be the only true way and the rest of the gods as low tier trash who wouldn't love you like she does.

You're giving me all kinds of crazy, horrible ideas now.

The potential is endless.

a lot of the final arc of the series was set in ancient egypt

Is this the age of mythology thread?

There was a generic 90s action cartoon called Mummies Alive about the reincarnation of a pharaoh as a modern kid who was protected by the mummies of the people who served him in his original life. It dipped into Egyptian mythology a lot more than you'd expect an action figure commercial to.

_ ____ __ ____ ____ cat

I remember that almost entirely because Scarab's staff was voiced by the same voice actress that did frieza's voice.

For the very early english dub of dbz.

>generic

I will punch you. That show was too goodly terrible for this world.

When I was but a small dumb child I read Mummies Alive! fanfiction about Anubis.

And yes, it was romance fanfiction. I have never forgotten it to this day. Something something Closed Door or something.

>Tomboy warrior gods
>Gentle sweet gods
>Wilderness + animal gods
>Profit and well-being gods
>Law and Order gods
>Lonely desperate realm of death gods
>Fertility, motherly gods
>Aberration, space tentacle madness that somehow took an interest in your mortal form gods

It's like a buffet of waifus, ready for the taking.

So are all of the death gods from different religions all frumpy girls who can't get a date? And they all live in the underworld together like it's the house from Princess Jellyfish?

>making all the gods female
Stop.

There’s a Cyoa based around this. Not as in depth, but it’d be a cool jumping off point.

youtube.com/watch?v=22gIrWLNGt4

Egyptian myth is one of the most overused sets of mythology, though. And no one ever does it right, because it's so fucking hard to touch in clean media. It's that whole "cradle of civilization" issue where we have so much trouble pulling ourselves away from Greek and Egyptian and Norse cultures. And then any other of the more unusual cultures get woefully underrepresented.

Just about everything tries to touch Egyptian culture and myth once or twice. Fuck, even Jimmy Neutron did that shit. I'm not saying they do it well, and yes, it would be nice to get something more going on in media that does touch it, but it's still pretty prevalent.

>all the gods are turned female
>except Bast, who is now a catboi

That intro music....that takes me back. Some epic stakes here.

Damn. That music is great .

>tfw undertale fucking ruined trying to search for Papyrus comics and cartoons
Fuck you, Toby.

Comic AND TV show

>tfw I have a fetish for ancient Egyptian themed girls
An ancient Egypt themed show with good waifus would be a godsend

sometimes we put in numbers when tranliterating Arabic to English as they resemble some of our letters. "Sno7y" would be pronounced "Snu-he".

Disclaimer never watched the show, Yugioh was the go to for me as a kid. If you think English dubs can get bad you should just hear Arabic ones.

Only if they are cats

Greek Mythology didn't have Sekhmet tap dancing all over Egypt in an orgy of blood like a giant lion with chainsaws for legs.

...

That dhow was fun.

Could you list some cool Mesopotamian gods and what their dealy was?

These dudes look cool until you realize they're all super anorexic with armor made to make them look bigger.

The epic of Gilgamesh is one of if not the oldest myths and its the proto-mythology for all Abrahamic faiths so that would make an awesome series.

I wonder if Egyptians see Ancient Egypt as 'theirs', or as separate; being a culture that existed there before them.

>Break it into several seasons
>The first season has Enkidu as the protagonist and Gilgamesh as the mysterious villain he's traveling towards
>Penultimate and Finale of the Season is a big ass brawl that ends with them becoming friends.

I don't about Egyptians but most latin people don't see the old civilizations as "their"
