Instead of the usual image dump, why don't we brainstorm new designs, especially for characters who desperately need it. We could also point out what details from different eras work for certain characters too

What characters need a rework, anyways?

You expect too much of the people here.

Perhaps a Drawfag Redesign thread would be interesting though.

Looks fucking stupid, OP.

One of my favorite threads on Sup Forums was where we critiqued a Batman redesign. The artist gradually edited the outfit based on our pointers, & eventually wound up with a standard Batman costume.

Well if it ain't broke don't fix it

link to the thread? i wanna have a hearty chuckle

I remember the one user who critiqued all of Cyborgs designs and why only his Teen Titans cartoon one is good while the rest are total shit.

That user is not entirely wrong. Cyborg's designs are often lackluster

No, absolutely do not make it a drawthread because then it'll just turn into begging.

...

I could think of a few villains, maybe a few heroes
>Toyman
>Clock King
>Blizzard
>Mole Man
>Prowler
>Vibe
>Doctor Polaris
I remember that, it was "Sup Forums creates a Batman costume

Wonder Woman's costume looks retarded

That is fucking horrible
>Lazy whore Harley
>Preggo Ivy
>Overly warrior Wonder Woman
>Even lazier Nightwing
>Thong Supergril
>Surprisingly even more lewd Powergirl
>Fetish suit Mr Freeze
>Star Wars Cyborg

Someone please kill Cyborg.
I can feel his suffering

>>Star Wars Cyborg
Looks more like a cyberpunk experiment gone wrong.

Earth-THICC

To start things off here is a Superman template for people to muck about with if they are so inclined.

>Cyborg have you hacked the system?
>MMMMMFFFF!!! NNMMMMM!!
>Hold in there,Cyborg! We're counting on you!
>FFRRRRRRHHH!!!

Also an old redesign based off it.

Bad idea. Superman is especially touchy when it comes to redesigns. We could spend an entire thread asking trunks or no trunks

>Doctor Polaris
The Bronze age Emerson look is one of my favorites. The New 52 one is maybe the worst design ever.

Batman looks like he wants to commit a crime with that black Robin.

But the women are nakie!!' Gets my peen hard!!

I like dis

Slap something on Cyborg and let's see what you've got.

Cyborg is now a Half Life 2 Stalker.

Awful, all of them awful.
Supergirl's is literally just her DCAU outfit with a thong instead of a skirt.

Also Nightwing doesn't open himself up for good designs does he? I have never seen a good Nightwing redesign.

Joker looks great.

I like this one, only because it feels like a good Not-Batman what with the cowl. The problem with Nightwing, is also his strength; simplicity.

I like Sportmaster's normal purple look, but I'd also like a return to when he'd change his costume depending on the sport he was using for the crime.

I just love Vibranium suit Wolverine

>that filename
I see you my nigga. I see you.

All the main heroes are gonna be replaced with minorities in the next 5 years so who cares?

That's not quite what the Negro League means.

I think Joker dressing like he's from a 80's cop show works surprisingly well.

>Sup Forums creates a Batman costume
Fuck, now I'm curious. Was this several years ago? Tryin' to find it on desuarchive.

I think the only salvageable thing from this, is superman's belt

what the FUCK is happening to WW's legs in this image?

Found it
desuarchive.org/co/thread/85219537/#85219537

Fuck yeah, thanks senpai. Have a funny out of context picture.

This looks like what would happen if a porn artist and the other does those "diversity redesign" artists from Tumblr had to work together on character designs.

Superman and Joker are honestly pretty good though.

Anyone got any Martian Manhunter redesigns? Figured they'd have to be some interesting interpretations of that character somewhere.

I really like his slim and sleek Forever Evil/DCYOU/Rebirth ones

I feel like most redesigns of J'onn go out of their way to make him look like a HOSTILE alien instead of the friendly green boy he should be.

>Toyman
The creepy fat guy aesthetic is overplayed and trite, drop it but keep him overweight. Bring back the garish suits but style him more along the lines of men's haute couture, ideally you want your artists to never have him wear the same outfit twice. The idea is to reinforce the fact that he's a manchild, a greedy, gluttonous trend whore wreaking havoc because the world dared not to sate his ego and desires, without being on the nose.

>Clock King
Honestly the button down suit is a pretty terrific and thematic design.

>Blizzard
Take a page from the Iron Man: Armored Adventures design, a walking, weaponized industrial freezer.

>Mole Man
Put him in a regular workman's jumpsuit that's worn, dirty, and held together by crude repairs he's made himself. Then cover it with bits of armor, jewelry, trinkets, weapons, and mementos. Make it look like fighting the Fantastic Four is what he does when he's not having kickass adventures under the Earth straight out of early 20th century weird fiction.

>Prowler
His recent design from the solo series wasn't bad. Start with that and give him back the classic cape and color scheme.

I thought it'd be neat if J'onn's armor was similar to that Marvin's armor, and if the top of his head was translucent so you could see his brain

This is perfect

I think the Brightest Day era bodysuit was pretty good but suffered from unimaginative color choices. The high collar and shoulder covering cape pair well with his aloof and taciturn nature.

...

Is it just me or does Cyborg look a lot better in Blue than in Red? A lot of his red suits are really fucking menacing and he ends up looking more like a villain than a hero.

It's probably why his Teen Titans design is the most popular, it's a lot easier on the eyes and he appears far more approachable than in his other looks.

Here is a good one.

...

...

Just disregard that a stupid lion mane like that while slow him down in the water

...

Oh, I like this one. The color choices are great and I really like the collar and cape too. Surprisingly, I like the defined brow and sunken eyes the artist gave him, fits MM fairly well.

...

>the defined brow and sunken eyes
Permanent "U Wot M8?" face.

...

...

are there any designs of marvin the martian as a DC martian?

im ready for fucc boi arthur

Working my ideal JL made up only of fan designs.
No idea of what Batman design I will use.
I would give the blue of the Super/Power Girl suit the same texture as the blue on the Superman suit.

I wanted a more sexualized Wonder Woman but I loooooove the detail on Sejic's Design here.

Considered this Aquaman -

>U having a giggle over there Ma'alefa'ak?

Bogan J'onn best J'onn.

>J'onn is teleported to Australia instead of America
Oi yeah, fucking nah, I'm the Martain Manhunter or some shit, I dunno, hand me some more Tim Tams.

Is Clive the Martian Manhunter?

Well, he can shapeshift...

Looking more "friendly" doesn't not necessarily equate to better character design. I actually liked some of the designs that emphasized his roboticness and inhumanity over ones that emphasized "friendliness" because that's a central question about his characterization.

IMO Superman redesigns emphasize his alienness too much. They should emphasize his human strong man nature.

...

Batman really shouldn't be as dusky as his compainions: Wayne is a WASPy name and the bat-vampire axis makes him a natural candidate for a pallid complexion. I get that playboy Bruce Wayne may have the perfect bronzed tan, but Batman is a creature of the night and his look should reflect that.

...

...

Gonna be the dissenter here, I love a lot of these designs, barring Ivy where I'm not sure why exactly she's preggo. Cyborg actually looking like he's half-machine rather than just some dude in a suit gives his character a bigger punch. And of course, the super-girdle is a surprisingly effective addition.

...

...

disgusting

...

>make the incompetent stoner hispanic

I think that's more racist than just leaving Shaggy white, honestly.

She's probably preggo as a fertility god thing. But if you were going with a vegetation spirit you could equally well do a dying and resurrecting god motif or based off Agdista have a futa Ivy.

Actually thinking about this maybe explicitly basing Superman off popular depictions of Moses would work. He was based off the Moses motif by Jews and was a small town farmer.

I'm not gonna lie, black Sephiroth is pretty badass. I'll go as far to say better then the original.

...

...

...

I normally roll my eyes at a lot of racebends, mostly stuff like but this has a surprisingly authentic tone to it both in terms of it being true to the style of FF7 and true to the general black/whiteness of the characters. Cloud, Tifa and Woolie all look like something black fans would fucking love, while Barret Jensen is actually pretty appealing to white fans as well.

I agree. On a related note Batman: White Knight has Ventriloquist redesigned as a spindly, older, black man it works really fucking well.

go play injustice you dweeb yeesh

...

I don't see what is Injustice-y about them? Not overly armory except Wonder Woman & it's a very different style of Armor to the Injustice stuff.

7 and 8 are the best, the chest scar is stupid.

...

One idea for Cyborg. No visible human parts, but a projected face from before his accident. The remaining human parts are all internal is his body.

...

Love this one in particular.

Batman isn't designed like a man in a suit he is designed like the statue of a god.

Joker and supes are good. the rest are varying flavors of bad.
