There are several episodes of Gumball exactly like this. The Night, (dealing with dreams) The Extras, (dealing with background characters) and The World (dealing with inanimate objects) are the three that come to my mind, but I think there may be more.
There's also that Valentine's day Family Guy episode that might be up your alley, but it does have a bit of a plot.
