Apply for entry level IT job

>Apply for entry level IT job
>5 years experience required

When did the job market go to such shit?

>went to trade school
>get out with multiple job offers for $20+ an hour

Feelscomyman

What trade user? I'm broke, I need food. I'm going to fucking die.

Probably when the economy half colapsed I imagine but I could be wrong, also you have to consider that you are vying for an actual decent job and almost all of the jobs created since the crash have been shitty part time jobs for teenagers and shitskins

Hvac meme currently driving a end dump tho

Unless you're Indian they don't want you. Stop crying that you're applying to a job that America outsources 1000%

I feel for you OP, it was hard to get a job after I finished uni but once you get it hold on for a few years and it'll be easy after that

How long did it take? I'm thinking about switching, I don't want to be fighting over scraps with poo in loos.

lel

I'm in the same boat user. I've worked some hard fucking jobs. I can't get a call back on anything for shit.

>Junior Developer position
>Never get a callback because they want someone with more experience

9 months

Sweet, guess i'm doing that.

>When did the job market go to such shit?

When liberals made a college degree meaningless by lowering admission standards and offering degrees for worthless shit.

Job ads are often copy/pasted shit jobs. You have to just apply and see how much they offer you. Right now is really not the planned recruitment season though, if companies are hiring now it's generally people they need 6 weeks ago not trainees

Start your own business

user, the requirements posted are desired qualifications. they rarely meet them. they also use them for keyword resume searches

so, load your resume with keywords in the listing, use custom layout, font, & margins, and quit being such a defeatist faggot

just go into the interview and tell them you have no professional experience, but fucking love IT and have been autisticly learning it for years

don't believe me? write up a fake resume with no experience but load it up with the right lingo and post in on monster in a different city and with a throw away email contact. the recruiting fags will be reaching out in a matter of days

Apprenticeship mate, only way in if you have no experience. Also you can use them to bypass bullshit 1st line support.

I'm doing apprenticeship right now in 2nd line support, networking.

Yeah, I applied for a job that said that straight out of college and got it. It will depend on the firm, but they bullshit for a variety of reasons
>HR being clueless
>using a job qualification so obtuse they can post a unique job listing tailored off a resume to say they have to hire an immigrant on H1-B
>trying to discourage useless applications

Depends on what you're trying to do, but try to apply and YMMV.

>This

So much this

This

If everyone can get an education then an education is worth nothing

Tech jobs are trash. All sub 100k, and shitty corportations will replace you with poo-loos. I love computers. They are my passion, but I would never work any of these jobs.

Start your own business. Make your own job.

literally in the same boat user.

Forget about IT. Everything entry level went to India, Russia, and Pakistan a decade ago. Its why a CCNA today is good enough for level 1 help desk, when 15 years ago a CCNA was a 90+k a year job

So tired of hearing this. Should every broke user should take on massive debt and open a restaurant/taxi/hand job company?

Most businesses make no profit their first 4 years, and around half fail by 4 year anniversary

>I'm broke, I need food. I'm going to fucking die.

Jesus, what a third world country you are.

Apply for it anyway. They say that to get cucks like you to not apply. If you dont apply then they can go cry and get a H1B.

IT jobs are especially bad, user.

There are these endless claims going around that there's supposedly a "shortage of tens of thousands of IT specialists", and that it hence were easy to get a job in that business.

Turns out what they really want is people who simultaneously are in their twenties, have a Masters degree in Computer Science and somehow also have 2-5 years of experience.
Either that, or cheap labour that works for less than the living wage.

And even if you do somehow get a well-paid job, pray that you're not replaced by 3 poo-in-loos within 2 years, whose combined earnings are that of your current wage.

>hand job company

Pretty much this. At my company 95% of IT new hires are Indian. You have to be in the industry already or just lucky. Gotta love our visa system.

What jobs would you recommend then? Anything paying well at the moment not involving computers requires 4 years of pharmacy school or medical school. Or it's blue collar and you're working 80 hours a week.

Redpill me on small business loans? What's the down payment to loan percentage?

How many months of your employee's pay do you factor into your business loan?

> need to fill minority quotas
> negroes are dumb drug dealers
> hire poo in the loos
> dodged a bullet there

Because we allowed women to work and affirmative action. We doubled the work force, and lowered the bar to allow negroes in.

Now, companies want Five Years experience for entry level shit to weed out the garbage.

>Going to trade school for HVAC
I will never get this meme, why do I always have to teach you guys about SH/SC and the refrigeration circuit reeeeeeeee.

One guy from a school was technically shit though he was a beast at brazing somehow, would bust out linesets in like 15 minutes flat no swager.

It's not even anything to do with minority quotas or shit like that, it's just cheap labor.
India dominates in the IT branch when it comes to cheap workers.

I used to do IT, apprenticeships don't really exist. Best thing to do is just work self employed until you can bullshit hard enough and make a believable enough resume to get in somewhere. You have to work cheap at first but after a few years you'll be making a decent salary and you can easily run a side business (actual government regulations almost don't exist for IT) for some serious extra money. I was basically making my salary in side jobs before I exploded and realized I couldn't do IT for the rest of my life.

If you know how to code and enjoy making websites then fucking upload your pet projects to github and get a fuckin job ASAP. Not a single person I work with has gone to school for development, all self taught

>you need 4 years of related experience
>trump gets to be president with no gov experience

>Redpill me on small business loans? What's the down payment to loan percentage?
You don't need any for IT, it's like 100 something bucks for your DBA and an SP or LLC. Start advertising through a BNI and CoC and you'll get a reputation quick enough.

Also try doing low volt cabling for a bit, they need installers bad, the pay is decent, and a lot of times they need real IT guys and will transfer/train you.

In America it is.

Have you built any software projects on your own?

I've deleted everything I've ever created.

I even had 5 years of photos, deleted them a few weeks back.

Deleted FaceKike, deleted anything social media orientated.

I'm a complete ghost.

If youre a programmer you get a job if you have a vagina. If not, you can maybe work at Best Buy

There's lots of IT and Tech jobs, the problem is that the people that go into this field tend to be introverts and not sociable so they miss out on a lot of connections and opportunities.

No way he did, he'd have a job by now. There's no one out there who participated in some sort of coding project during college that isn't employed. That's the thing about college, you're not just supposed to fucking go and get a degree, you're supposed to pick up work experience, internships, and participate in projects akin to what you want to do after that but everyone just decides to go to fucking adult day care and fuck around. Know a guy that went to a shit uni for CE and simply because he participated in some gay little robot club doing stupid shit he got a job making 68k before he was even out.

blame it on the poo in loo's.

This, you may not be able to get a fulltime job. However, there's contract work available in many places that need a website built or something designed. The problem is you got to make yourself known and be willing to talk to people.

Fuck people senpai.
Draining as shit.

It's happening in other countries too. I work for one of Brazil's largest banks and we just dumped half of our IT in the streets to outsource to indians for one third of the pay. I hear Germany is putting engineers out of work to hire romanian engineers.

It's really scary that even the people on the good side of automation will be entirely replaced soon.

Pretty much, all of the major contracting and consulting companies like Cognizant or Infosys are dominated by Indians who only like to hire other Indians.

Yes I have user

Here's how it usually works

>Be me unemployed for a year since I was laid off due to industry slow down
>Apply all over for any computer related job
>Get a call from a recruiter
>Ask me about my experience
>Tell them I have projects on my phone and my computer I can bring in to the interview and show them
>"Ok user I'm going to pass your information along to my manager"
>I call back a week later
>"Yeah sorry user we're just looking for someone with more experience"

The plural of anecdote ain't data, but in my case this is true. I am still fucking terrified of getting replaced by poo, which is why I'm hunkered down in a DoD security clearance job that fucking blows.

K...KEEP ME POSTED

>Redpill me on small business loans
I wouldn't invest any money or go into debt right now if I was you, especially for flimsy, idealistic business ideas you might have, no offense I feel you.
If you've already developed some skills through education/certs or in your free time I would start offering services. Your business could be as simple as having a shoebox full of receipts, an address, and having a accountant. At least that's how it looks like in the US to me, not sure though.

That's what I suspect. Also, many companies will send out software engineering test questions through email and call back anyone who gets it right. You just need to keep applying until one of them sends you a test problem and you're able to demonstrate your competence

trump will make it great again

>work 24 hours a day struggling with your business instead of browsing reddit all day for 50-80k.
ya man tech jobs are so trash.

"We can have this done in India for $1500"

>IT is cucked
>programming is cucked
>trades are soul-crushing
Fml. What's a good STEM field that isn't shit and will give me guaranteed work?

this. used to webdev now moved to IT. so many techs are self taught, just put some effort in it. never been unemployed in my life

EE? No clue honestly, here in Belgium engineers have a 0.2% unemployment ratio a year after graduation.

Anything if your a woman and ethnic but not too ethnic where your names is bahkaleshehemzo

>In Fortune 500 IT company

>13 an hour for shitty set schedule, strict rules and weekly hour caps

>Laid off

>Deliver Amazon packages in a comlany van fkr 16 an hour and as many hours weekly as I want

The IT field in the West is almost dead, outsourcing has murdered wages. Can't export delivery, though.

Engineering or Medicine is your best bet. I think you can definitely still find opportunities in Tech, but it's better if you're a developer. IT is not looking good at the moment.

Science I have no clue. Most likely you'll have to stay in academia.

Civil Engineering or Medical

that's about all that's left

Apprenticeships are very common in the UK for those smart enough not to waste time in university doing history or philosophy

Yup and that's it. Any software guy who knows even a bit and at the very least has developed something can get a job. Hell I got a DB contract and I knew almost nothing about software, had to teach myself while working on it.

>trades
>soul crushing
Where did you get this from? Just find one that you like, carpentry while being a very low paying trade for example is extremely rewarding. I never thought I'd be an hvac tech but lo and behold I said fuck it and gave it a shot and I really like it.

>work I enjoy
>great compensation
>company vehicle that doubles as a personal so I don't have to pay gas or insurance
>company phones so don't have to pay a phone bill
>They even wash your fucking uniforms
>never have to worry about a job, can walk into any shop and get a new one on the spot, seriously have people stop me in traffic to try and recruit me

Trades are pretty nice.

here's my opinion: you have to go back to fucking plebit and never come here again, gtfo now lol

They only really exist in Union state trades here. MOST trades will train on the job either way though even in right to work states though due to shortage. IT isn't really considered a trade though.

More experience as in have you ever fucking worked?

Who the fuck doesn't work in any jobs and then expect a professional entry level job? You were meant to get work experience even if it was flipping burgers or making coffee.

Uni isn't for getting you a job it's just like school but you get to learn a specialized field. You still have to go out and get actual work experience in anything before people will think about hiring you.

Nothing is worse than a green straight out of college/uni faggot who thinks he's entitled to the entry level job. The private sector learned their lesson over this and so now you have to go work in other fields and learn to be a working person.

Otherwise you just turn up to work late then slack off as much as possible, you have zero work ethic until you actually learn to work and fear for your job.

Also if you went IT in uni you made a huge mistake and should have gone to a tech college for that.

I am getting a degree in Leisure, Sport, and Tourism Studies. What do you think of that ausbro? Am i fucked? Or can I make it work

when I went to college all of my white professors were laid off from their field for being old or outsourced, one was a chinese visa that couldnt actually code at all and the other was a poo in loo that couldnt even set up an IDE and would print out 9 year old C# examples for a VB.net class because "its basically the same"

the minute I graduated was when every company decided a white guy isnt desirable anymore and Ive been hunting ever since.

Nobody irl is really surprised that i pray for a civil war at this point.

Engineering sounds a step more dignified than being a code monkey. Other than civil engineering, what else is good?

Petroleum engineering sounds appealing, but I don't want to get cucked by the Saudis.

5 years experience in the USA means 5 years experience working directly in your field. Yes. for entry level jobs because they shuffle down laid off people.

>Applies for an IT job with zero work experience
>didn't do internships throughout college
hope you had fun with your "college experience" while other people were getting their work experience while getting paid little-to-nothing

No user, they want you to have 5 years experience in the field you're applying for despite the fact that you're applying for an entry level job

it's a catch-22

you drive your own car or you work for UPS or some shit?

You can make it work but don't just ignore real work in anything like most faggots do.

Why don't you go get an unspecialised entry level job then work your way up. Idiots who haven't ever worked are the most unemployable people in society and is a huge red flag to management that you will be trouble.

>haven't even graduated yet
>send in CV for entry level position at a medium size IT company with international presence
>land interview appointment immediately
>bomb on some of the questions but they still want me
>they keep mailing me for an internship contract with a guaranteed job afterwards
They were my first choice of company too.

You are the reason the employers pay shit wages. Kill yourself.

He was high-energy though. You're probably low-energy.

>it's a catch-22

It's not it's entry level in the specialised field because they want you to learn how they do shit. You need work experience because they don't want to train some green straight out of school dumbass but someone who's proven they can apply their skills. You have to literally work your way up for 5 years now to get that job.

What did you believe that a uni degree would magically grant you a job even though you have never proven you can even work?

Uni degree 4 year + 4 years of working your way up minimum. Welcome to reality.

>Can't export delivery, though.
Meatbag, please.

>implying (((internships))) aren't a way for companies to Jew people for free labor
>implying companies count (((internships))) as experience. They don't.

Nice meme, do you believe everything else you see/hear in social media?

what are you even talking about you dumb fucking idiot?

how can I get 5 years of specialized work experience in that field if I can't get hired because I don't previously have 5 years of specialized experience in that field?

Go work for geek squad at best buy

another interesting thing is when they have an upper limit on experience (e.g. 2-5 years) and at the same time boasting "no age discrimination". I never see job ads for 10 or 15 years experience.

>8 years experience in IT, 5 of those 8 with the government
>no degree

Thank goodness degrees are such a joke now a days that almost all jobs allow you to substitute experience for a BS.

Currently job hunting even though I got a 60k/year job and fully paid health insurance.

Why would I hire someone unemployed?

I have 12 years experience with computers, and 0 years experience in IT field, still can't get hired

I guess it's construction job and cheap apartment for the next 20 years.

I'd hire this guy over a uni grad who has never worked.

They're lying. I got a job offer when I was only 6 months into my field from one of the biggest corporations in my industry for a job that required 5 years experience minimum when I had been in the field 6 months. It's all fluff.

Probably because your name isn't poo in the loo ahmed.

>20 years in (assuming you can still work after 20 years of working blue collar shill job)
>making $25 an hour

Well shit, where do I sign up? Quit LARPING and help a guy out maybe.

Lol what the fuck.

6 figures is normal in a lot of trades after just a few years. Last shop I worked at had me pulling 1500-2500 every fucking week. Have a few friends pulling 3-6k consistently.

Once you're in you're in, that's it.

I took advantage of the oil boom in North Dakota and got a job in IT because they were desperate for computer nerds. I was smart and creative so I stuck around with the tiny business solutions company for 3 1/2 years, then applied for a government job that was available. Got the government job and been with it for 5 years. The economy is shit here now because the oil boom went bust, so I'm looking for a new job before I get laid off or some shit.

You should apply to a small office or a medium office and earn a low wage. I stated in IT @ $9 per hour, then $12, then $15, then yacht club.

What you want to do is find a place that is willing to work with college grads.

Unless you are an h-1b shithead they dont want you because you cost too much

>See flying low hovering delivery machine
>Put on ski mask and baggy clothes with no labels
>Throw brick
>Get package and machine parts
>Nobody knows it was me
>????
>Profit

In short, it's corporations.

Rich companies should be democratised and turned into worker co-ops. High taxes won't been needed then.

Bingo. I was making $11/hour when I started. Now I make $25+/hour after being in the field for a few years. The first place I worked only had 30 people in the entire company.
