Water. Earth. Fire. Air. Long ago, the four nations lived together in harmony. Then, everything changed when the Fire Nation attacked. Only the Avatar, master of all four elements, could stop them. But, when the world needed him most, he vanished. A hundred years passed and my brother and I discovered the new Avatar: an airbender named Aang. And although his airbending skills are great, he has a lot to learn before he's ready to save anyone. But I believe, Aang can save the world.

This thread is also about practicing to be a VA. To that end, we have many resources SOURCE LINKS

I don't 'pander' to women, but I do like them and their voices. And many of my resources have been used in FSA.
You should eat before you perform, because you never know how many takes you may have to do.
John Hernandez
My voice is rather too cutesy for comics bleh
Landon Jones
Whatever do you mean? There are cutesy comics
Michael Garcia
I know the feeling. I've got Michael J Fox voice. I'm in my 30s but I sound like im 17. NOT good when I want to voice manly men and gruff dudes.
Xavier Reed
If I were able to do that off the cuff I wouldn't be posting here, I'd be working in the industry
Owen Morris
Have you seen ads looking for a Mojo Jojo impersonator?

Purina Diet (Better version for a joke)
So I'm at Wal-Mart buying a bag of Purina dog food for my dog. While in the check-out line, a woman behind me asked if I had a dog. Why else would I be buying dog food, RIGHT??? So on impulse I told her that no, I didn't have a dog, I was starting the Purina Diet again, and that I probably shouldn't because I ended up in the hospital last time, but that I'd lost 50 pounds before I awakened in intensive care with tubes coming out of most of my orifices and IVs in both arms. I told her that it was essentially a Perfect Diet and all you do is load your pockets with Purina Nuggets and simply eat one or two every time you feel hungry. The food is nutritionally complete so it works well and I was going to try it again. (I have to mention here that practically everyone in line was now enthralled with my story.) Horrified, she asked if I ended up in intensive care because the dog food poisoned me. I told her no, I stepped off a curb to sniff a poodle's butt and a car hit me.
Not bad, but you didn't include his overuse of synonyms.
Evan Murphy
I genuinely want someone to read this with all the emotion they have. Make an user cry.
Justin Kelly
I'm no VA or anything but an audiophile, but it was great. Very dramatic and well-paced. I hope some VA pros will show up and give you a real review.
Robert Allen
I did it twice

Jace Hernandez
You, user, guy, did performed, enacted, brought forth an act, performance, often, repetitively, more than once?
Michael Adams
Yes. the "sombody lied" part and the "the girl I love" part (though I couldn't come up with other ways of saying it on the fly)
Colton Hernandez
You need a Synonym Finder.
David Gutierrez
Damn, user, that's pretty good!

====================================================================================================== GLOSSARY: TERMS FOR SPEAKING ABOUT VOICE
Volume – relative loudness of voice
Pitch – relative highness or lowness of voice
Rate – speed at which you talk
Pauses – small breaks carefully timed for impact, but not too many vocalized pauses like 'er' and 'um'
Vocal Variety – VV refers to changes in volume, pitch, rate, and pauses, and is crucial to making your voice lively and animated. This is one of the main ways to differentiate between reading and performing.
Pronunciation – words should be pronounced correctly and articulated distinctly
SFX- sound effects including slaps kissing sucking etc...
Accent/dialect – regional variations of inflection ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Apologies for my somewhat crappy laptop mic. I left my Blue Snowball at home. :P
Evan Reyes
yo good work dog. like two moments felt a little weird but mostly very tight performance.
I think it could be better if you ignored the source and just read the words, adding your own inflection u feel
David Howard
was meant also meant for
Dylan Peterson
Thanks, man. Which two moments felt off? Be honest, I can take it.
Not sure what you mean by ignoring the source, can you clarify? Thanks.
Jace Sanders
actually it was only the second has happened. I just meant like ignore when the words are bold and ignore the drawings, just perform the words how you think they should be performed. not really a guarantee it will improve but i think it'd be an interesting exercise
>I just meant like ignore when the words are bold and ignore the drawings Oh. I can I see how it might be more interesting to ignore the bold words and add my own inflection, but I don't think I could ignore the drawings. They go part and parcel with the script--how else would you know Tony was crying?
Easton Bell
i guess the point is that you could not be crying. comic books don't have voice actors, animation does. and in animation (script driven) the VA only has a script, no drawings
Easton Carter
We are well-started. But we usually are. Let's see if we can stay up
Hey, thanks! Not enough people taking the time to critique recordings in these threads, so I really appreciate the feedback from you and that other user.
Ill do somehting if the thread stays up for 2 more hours
Anthony Hall
Oh shit user that was actually good.

Voila! In view humble vaudevillian veteran, cast vicariously as both victim and villain by the vicissitudes of fate. This visage, no mere veneer of vanity, is a vestige of the “vox populi” now vacant, vanished. However, this valorous visitation of a bygone vexation stands vivified, and has vowed to vanquish these venal and virulent vermin, van guarding vice and vouchsafing the violently vicious and voracious violation of volition. The only verdict is vengeance; a vendetta, held as a votive not in vain, for the value and veracity of such shall one day vindicate the vigilant and the virtuous. Verily this vichyssoise of verbiage veers most verbose, so let me simply add that it’s my very good honour to meet you and you may call me V.

I’m thrilled you all could make it tonight, gentlemen. I know I ask a lot of you, but I hope you all realize, I notice everything. Every tiny smile, every command obeyed, every sacrifice given. You’re my men, aren’t you? And tonight, you’re going to prove it. Now, I want you all to pick up your instruments and line up in—You! Stand up straight, please. I said, stand up! Would you like the whole town to see you in a wrinkled band uniform? Don’t answer, just listen. (pause) Now, form that single line and reflect on your assignment tonight. Remember, you’re more than simply clarinet players or baton twirlers. You have a mission, a purpose—and while you may not be here to witness the difference you make, know that I will. And that’s really what matters most, now isn’t it? So all those people who said I didn’t have a voice, who said no one would ever listen to me—those awful people, with their awful taunts in my head—“She called ‘fire’ and no one heard her!” “Have you noticed how the waiter never stops at her table?” “She can’t even get a dog to lick her hand!” Well, Awful People’s Taunts! Look at me now. Listen to me now! I have all these gentlemen right here. Haven’t I, gentlemen? Don’t answer, just think! You’re all prepared to march out that window, march out with flutes and heads held high, and fall to your fated death…all for me. All for me.
Xavier Rogers
Jesus, my mic is bad on this computer. Here's just a bit from the beginning, I hope you like a fake british accent
>vocaroo.com/i/s1OnmLUmtFjA NIce, but it sounds like you have the same trouble with an English accent than I do. I can't maintain it log or stick to one regional variant. Mine reminds me of most of the British porn I've seen where all the Americans. have Texas/southern accents.
I wonder if any linguists will stop by to give us advice. That would be cool
Feel free to gender-bend that one. Just using He in place of she would do it and over-the-top bandleaders don't have a particular archetype.
Josiah Ortiz
Yeah, I didn't really even make any attempt to stick to any specific regional accent, that sort of vaguely british but not quite is essentially the way I speak English, unless I let my natural accent through.
I have a feeling I crossly mispronounced "clarinet".
Brody Russell
>I have a feeling I crossly mispronounced "clarinet". Oh, I don't think so. It didn't stand out, and a clarinet in the hands of a bandsman isn't all that impressive anyway.

wanted to try my hand at this one, don't have anything better than my headset unfortunately
Do whatever you feel most comfortable with - I'm just trying to keep the thread bumped
Anthony Gonzalez
Having noise issues. Should be up soon.
Henry Martinez
Does anyone still have Clay Puffington's monologue from season 3 perchance? Was considering trying that. Or doing it in Bubbles' voice. I can do the three girls and Mojo Jojo alright, just can't find the text.
Got the vocal bug out of me, time to catch up on previous anons recordings.
Wyatt Roberts
Nice subtle delivery.
Never get tired of that Meatwad voice.
Impressive voice switch in one take. Also "TREBEK!"
Brayden Thomas
Thank you. Any commentary on my reading? I'd like some feedback to know how I could do better next time.
Carter Parker
Holy Moly! I was gone most of the evening and when I saw we were on page 1, I jumped for joy.. A few hours ago I checked and we were on 10. I couldn't bump from my phone since the grocery store's IP on the WIFI I was using was permabanned. Lots to respond to, so let me start, rehydrate and listen
>javascript:quote('98575095')>98568710 That's one of the purposes here, but I didn't want to put it in the thread title because I want other anons to feel good about posting stuff in this thread they want to hear. We can talk about this on the thread too. I've done that before and it worked very well.
Did you look for it in the monologue links above? Have you used your Google-fu? Is there some PPG fandom site that might have it?
Some headsets work just fine.
You are a good user.
I still need to find that whole page. It's a good scene.
You have nothing to apologize for.
Ryan Diaz
vocaroo.com/i/s0nluABqwjYm I am not a good voice actor nor do I have a good mic, I just really like this joke
>Did you look for it in the monologue links above? Have you used your Google-fu? Is there some PPG fandom site that might have it? Lol, why would a PPG fandom site have a monologue from Moral Orel? I Googled with no luck, will try the monologue links then.
Alexander Smith
I blame dehydration. I thought we were talking about them, not Moral Orel.
