Want to read a comic from a CBZ file but I don't have a program to open it. I looked up online and "CDisplayEX" seems to be the most recommended and have the cleanest UI. But further research shows that it has Malware and bloatware.
I guess I want to ask, is there any alternatives to it or if you use CDisplayEx, should I just download it?
I'm reading that there was a yahoo search bar bundled with cdisplayex about 5-7 years ago, but no searches bring up anything recent. That said, I use YACreader.
Jackson Adams
Does this not have malware?
Hunter Powell
I tried going to the website, but my McAfee went off. Should I still download it?
Thomas Myers
Probably the safest option OP
Connor Richardson
I've never had a problem with it. It's open source, so you can look through the code yourself.
Carson Collins
Quick question but do you even need a software to read comics? Can't you just read it individually or from a streaming site?
Ethan Wright
I thought it will be a nice alternative than to read it from individual photos
Adam Lee
HoneyView portable.
Jackson Adams
I saw that, I didn't really like the UI and the website looks more sketchy than the CDisplay
Angel Wilson
Has anyone looked into ComicRacks?
Luis Martin
SumatraPDF maybe?
Carter Diaz
Maybe STDU Viewer, portable?
Hudson Powell
I've used CDisplay for almost six years now. Never had any malware or ads or anything like that
Jacob Lewis
I looked at both of these and they both look kind of out-dated. Plus I wan to look at it on desktop rather than mobile. Thanks though
I paid a dollar for Cover on my windows tablet and haven't used anything since. It's also free, but it has some restrictions. It's my go-to since I stopped using CDisplay. Other readers just feel clunky as shit on a tablet.
Jaxon Rodriguez
Cover, is it available on Android?
Ian Stewart
Maybe outdated is the wrong word. Why do you prefer using it?
Samuel Carter
No, fraid not. Probably the reason it's so stable is because it's windows exclusive.
Joshua Peterson
user, it's just bundled with bloatware... You opt to customize it and uncheck both bloatware when you install it. Please read things fully before you try to install software, thanks.
I use challenge viewer on Android - both on my Note 8 and my Yogabook and it's been fine
Sebastian King
Uni-fag here My school's network straight up blocks the download link. However the beta and original versions are given a pass.
Again, the program attempts to install chromium and some antimalware program, click next carefully and make sure to click cutsomize for both of them to uncheck the boxes
Brody Young
>Sup Forums gets all its information from articles written 7 years ago CDisplayEx NEVER had malware or adware in it, Jesus Christ you fucking sheep. What happened is, they naively distributed their content via Cnet, which began bundling adware into the downloads they hosted. CDisplayEx has long since stopped serving their software via Cnet and now provides direct downloads from their own servers.
Austin Foster
it might just be a false positive. my local library's site was flagged as a potentially dangerous site once by google.
if you really really want to play it safe, wait a week and see if McAfee still hates it.
Oliver Williams
If you want to be specific, it's a PUP/PUA, actually two, the whatever the fuck the anti-virus is and the Chromimum/setting your homepage to Yahoo.
Now, you can say "b-but it's optional", yes I'm aware it's optional. It's checked by default and idiots tend to blindly click "next" and we get the PUP/PUA installed on their machines.
Parker Thompson
So as long as I check the specific boxes, I won't receive malware
Henry Adams
Thanks! This really helps
Evan Johnson
UNCHECK IT Fucking Hell, user.
Jeremiah Barnes
just read before you click stuff, use common sense, and you'll be fine
Mason Long
It was those ads you're supposed to skip and decline. One of them happened to be malware. As long as you're careful on installation, you can use the final build.
Liam Martinez
Fuck, definitely missed typed that.
Angel Garcia
Thanks for the advice guys
Sebastian Brown
If you're honestly unsure, I can show youa screenshot
Ian Perez
Sure, send it
Isaiah Morales
Ok, fucktard, here we go. Notice, on the left, in the red circle, the box does not have a checkmark in it. Notice, on the right, in the blue circle, it says "click here".
Both those places normally say "Click here", so you click here, then you make sure all three boxes, are like the box in the red circle.
If you have problem, I suggest knifing yourself.

just get mangameeya 2.4. its SUPER light and simple. i like it so much its my standard image viewer as well as my go to for porn archives. just drop in animeboysgettingtrickedintocrossdressingandthengettingfucked.rar into it and click go and sit back and fap. you can change the hotkeys and controls and you can zoom and it has image filters and it has sorting and all kinds of good shit.
it has no support though so the old version, while the best one, RARELY has issues with common file types that have been encoded oddly that you can fix by simply resaving the image through paint. if trapswallows.jpg comes up as an error, just resave it as a jpg through paint and it'll work fine.
mangameeya DOES have a newer version, mangameeya 7. but that version cant read japanese characters. so it crashes if you try putting gay japanese anime boys in there. i keep that around for comics if i feel like reading something huge
Chase Collins
Thankyou, and yes, I am a fucktard
Asher Hughes
oh right. mangameeya 7 can read any image that mangameeya 2.4 cant. if you dont plan on reading anything thats titled in japansese characters, just get that
Caleb Bailey
Thats also a good alternative. I'll keep that in mind
Owen Baker
user, if it helps, I'm venting because I work as a sysadmin and have to deal with questions like "the lightbulb is broken, can you fix it since it's electricity?"
You have more common sense than most people for making sure you don't get malware/bloatware/whatever the fuck you want to call it
Easton Price
i completely forgot to mention that they both can read rar, zip, cbr, cbz, or you can simply drop in an image folder
Jaxson Morgan
Just disconnect from the internet when doing the install. It won't try to get you to download the other stuff then
Blake Lopez
I use it and like it
Robert Cooper
Aw, thanks for your honesty. Sorry if it sounded like a dumb question.
Carson Scott
Any specific things you like from it?
Aaron Gomez
Streaming sites don't have a lot of more obscure stuff like eurocomics and you can only download them.
David Allen
It has more features but it always runs slower than I want. CDisplayEx is just more convenient and has a better UI in my opinion.
Evan Bell
I like GonVisor
Tyler Turner
I thought so too, thats why I wanted to know hwo to download it without the Malware risks
Jeremiah Howard
Like others have said, there is no Malware risk. Just make sure you don't check the adware when downloading and installing.
Jack Perez
Got it. Thanks to everyone who helped me!
Joseph Torres
It's what I use. Reads everything and is the most like the original CDisplay.
Joseph Butler
>McAfee One of the worst anti virus programs.
Brandon Brown
Holy shiut, do people actually fall for this?
Camden Cox
Thankfully Ubuntu/Linux uses the same reader for both PDF and CBR/CBZ, so I've never had to install anything, just double click and that's it.
Jaxson Clark
This, GonVisor is top tier except it doesn't generate thumbnails like CDisplay does. Top mobile apps: >Android - Perfect Viewer >iOS - ComicZeal
Thomas Brooks
>downloading CDisplay from the cuck that made CDisplayEX No wonder you're getting malware
Sebastian Ramirez
>Holy shiut, do people actually fall for this?
All the time. People are conditioned to mindlessly click "yes next next accept" in installers.

For all the faggots in this thread who don't know how to be careful when installing things, get Unchecky.
