New Venom Creative team

Time for Cates to save Venom

Another #1? God I hate the state of cape comics.

Strange has been great. Looking forward to this.

Don't think I've ever read Cates, is he good?

No

It's norm of modern comics since the mid 90s.

>Industry spins between various genres for years. Superheroes become dominating force again by the 60s.
>Last 30 years on that.
>It crashes
>"hmmm, we could try other genres...or we can keep running this into the dirt!"

DC and Marvel are run by idiots.

Very.

>Stegman
Good god man, why?

Faggit

No

>we could try other genres
They did. It failed.

Didn't they try to make a romantic tennis comic awhile back?

The genre itself isn't really the issue, it's how messy the whole thing is. He's right, another #1?

>Barely try to advertise them, mostly tie them to existing comics, don't even consider new distribution options.
It's on them.

that was some shit in a drawer that finally published

i mean it was fine but it wasnt' like a launch

Above average for capes
Bad for creator-owned series

Quite.
>Not like God Country, Redneck, or Babyteeth
k

>Cates/Stegman
FUCK. YES. Time to actually start reading Venom.

>God Country
Predictable and lame
>Redneck
Better, but didn't care enough about it to pick up the second trade. And the art is sloppy
>Babyteeth
Haven't read what is it about?

Seems like it's been a while since Brock was Venom.

He's been Venom again for months.

Babyteeth is about a woman who gives birth to the Anti-Christ, it's got cults and illuminati stuff and cool assassins and stuff. It's my favorite Cates after God Country, not a big fan of Redneck but Babyteeth is definitely worth checking out. One of my favorite ongoing books at the moment.

Most of their stuff is relaunching again.

To be honest, I too am trying to forget that Costa is writing Venom ongoing.

Due to how the comic market works and rising prices, building a new audience like that is pretty much impossible.

No idea, I'd be giving this a shot more for Stegman. Would rather see him either writing or drawing ASM though.

His Doctor Strange and Thanos are god tier.

It was pretty good, but zero advertising

>but zero advertising

You guys say this all the time but there were ads for it in other comics.

Fuck! I never wanted to read venom. But this team

top fucking lel

>God Country
>Predictable and lame
Predicable doesnt always mean a bad story. It had stakes and even the characters knew it.

Thanos has yet to pay off. His Strange is fucking great

He's a less cosmic Al Ewing.

>Slott coming off ASM
>Costa coming off Venom and Stegman on art

It's like they know it's my birthday in May

that's Robbie Thompson
Cates is like a less dumb Aaron

is this true?

also, lemme check

What’s the problem? I loved his work in RYV and the few issues of Venom Inc that he did, I think it’s a big step up from Sandoval, and I say this as someone who actually liked Sandoval’s art

As much as Stegman being on art is always a plus, he never seems to actually stays on a book that he's put on for more than an arc or 2. After that, it's always a demotion

Superheroes are keeping floppy comics (a dying medium) alive just like they are keeping modern cinema theaters (a dying medium) alive.

Both accurate statements.
